I am not a sentimental person. I throw away most of the art projects the kids make, never save cards for more than a month and sold all of my wedding china when we were broke a few years ago. It makes my hugely sentimental mom totally nuts. But, every now and then I do get misty eyed and emotional, especially when things come to an end. The very end of December? I’m kind of a mess.

I’ve often said that I started this blog as a baby book for my kids, and it’s true. Though it’s become much more than that, I am most thankful that it’s forced me to document the little moments that would have otherwise become forgotten. When I look through my posts and pictures, I re-live the best and the worst of their young days and I think it’s a pretty amazing gift to present to them.

2010 was kind of a a roller coaster year, but I suppose most years with young kids are. Here’s a quick look back at some of the highs and lows in pictures and some of my favorite blog posts.

And, thank you to all of you for visiting/commenting/supporting. The year would not have been the same without you. Here’s to a wonderful 2011!

January: Ignorance is alive, and it’s watching my child Part I and II

February: Cabin Fever

March: The Curse of a Thousand Faces

April: Desperately Seeking Something

May: What Mothers really want for Mother’s Day

June: The post where I alienate people once again

July: Smart Parenting

August: I’m not pregnant

September: Saying When

October: That Kid

November: To my 16 year old self

December: National Abstinence Month

I haven’t been blogging long so I don’t have a year in review but I must agree that in a mere four months I have veered from my original goal to something completely different. Blogging is a journey which is different for all of us. I just read all those posts and what I liked was that the subject matter was so eclectic …. Like you are …and I am. So, thanks for being that way and a special thanks for allowing me to guest on your wonderful blog!

I too have only been at it two months so I guess I’ll have to catch this hop next time around. I agree with other posters though. Blogging has certainly become a journey. I started blogging about one thing I was passionate about and have ended up somewhere entirely different but strangely satisfying. I love your blog.

Well, I wouldn’t say I’m all that sentimental either (although probably a bit more than you Jill ;-) ) but I’m clearly emotional because watching that video brought tears. Holy Moly I don’t even know you or your kids! In any event, I appreciate that I found your blog a few months ago. You’ve certainly given me some pretty good laughs. I don’t see the blog post on your favorites, however, that you wrote about gay marriage. It was the post that caught my eye and brought me to your blog in the first place – I thought it was fantastic! Happy New Year to you and your family Jill!

I’m new to the world of Scary Mommy so this review was a wonderful crash course.

And, there’s nothing like peeing my pants from laughter and nearly waking up the baby in the next room at the use of the F-word in the alienation post. Of all the things kids can come across on the internet, they’re biggest concern is the F-word??!?! Geesh. My 15 month old daughter said “uck” when she was trying to get up on the couch today but couldn’t. She’s brilliant for using it in context at such a young age. That’s my girl!

Keep us laughing in 2011 Scary Mommy!
