Bread & Butter; A Kitchen Shoppe

November 23, 2009

newB&B button

I have a really bad habit of starting projects, getting completely and utterly obsessed and simply abandoning them a few months later. It’s kind of a joke with those who know me best, and really quite a marvel that I’ve manged to stick with this blogging thing as long as I have.

One of my brief obsessions was a little kitchen store I had when we lived in Tennessee. It was called Bread & Butter, and was housed in an old warehouse as part of an antique mall set-up. It meant that I could buy, stock and merchandise, but didn’t need to man the shop. It was perfect for me. I closed it up when Ben was born, but never really got the whole thing out of my system.

store

The brick and mortar shop I dream of isn’t an option right now, so for the moment, I’ve revamped and reopened my little kitchen shop on-line at breadandbuttershoppe.com. I’ve got adorable aprons, fun cookware and some great holiday gifts.

In the coming weeks, I’ll be doing some great giveaways and charity auctions, so stay tuned. And, as a reader here, I’ve got a special gift for you. Use the code SCARYMOMMY at checkout for a surprise I know you’ll love.

Please check it out and let me know what you think!

OK, just went to check it out. So cute. I may just have to get myself some of those fluted snack bowls. Way cuter than my Ikea ones. And the Carlotta apron is going on my Xmas list.

Just wondering was your kitchen store in Franklin? I remember a great area where there were some great shops clustered in one building. I saw Faith Hill there one day with her girls.

Kudos on opening the shop online. Great idea and more exposure!

I’ve considered the possibility that I may suffer from some sort of manic depression. For the same reason you boldly admit here.
I get crazy about an idea. Let it rule me for days, even weeks, blood sweat tears, snot…..you get the picture.
Then, I just up and quit. Not because I lost interest, but because I lost faith. Not faith in my ability to finish either. But, faith in the ability to finish it with the PERFECTION I originally set out to achieve. I am my worst critic……I can ridicule myself into giving up on many things.
Like three half written novels.
But, I do bake. (and I don’t turn the oven off before the cake rises) So, I will visit your shop. If only to peruse your personal defeatism.
The one thing we both follow through on, though, is motherhood. I’d like to think its my greatest work!

The only reason why I have continued this blogging thing and am finishing my book is because my husband has challenged me saying that I always start out strong only to fizzle out. Well, here is my true test.

Will I reach success if I don’t fizzle out or should I give in and revert back to my old self?

I wish that we had boutiques like Bread and Butter here in Aspen. We used to but the rents got too high. Your shop reminds me of the stores I used to love back in Massachusetts. I will visit it right now and look for X-mas gifts.

I am the polar opposite of domestic. I don’t think I have cooked or baked something (all by myself) EVER, but my new bud The Kitchen Witch sent me here and I’m thankful she did. (Thankful even the day after Thanksgiving. Good, no?) I will check out your goodies and who knows… Maybe between the two of you, I will become a new woman? A girl can dream, right? Happy belated Thanksgiving!
