The Super Mario-themed animals are available online now and in stores this weekend
If anyone loves stuffed animals and is also obsessed with Nintendo, today is your lucky day. Build-A-Bear has partnered with Nintendo to create Super Mario-themed bears and accessories, and they are just as amazing as you would think.
Build-A-Bear’s Nintendo collection features three full-size “Make-Your-Own Friend” bears — Mario, Bowser, and Yoshi — and also a line of costumes and accessories to go along with them. I know this is something we’re supposed to buy our kids for Christmas but I want all three of these immediately and I’m not sharing, so there.
According to the Build-A-Bear site, our favorite “mustached-hero,” Mario, comes with his suit, embroidered mustache, and Super Mario logo on his paw pad. Bowser, the “troublemaking King of the Koopas” is so cute you will forgive him for causing so much trouble and Yoshi, the least expensive option is equally as adorable.
“Super Mario is a classic game franchise many of our guests know and love, and we’ve had a lot of fun bringing these characters into furry-friend form,” chief product officer at Build-A-Bear Workshop, Jennifer Kretchmar, said in a press release. “Like Build-A-Bear, Nintendo’s characters appeal to everyone, so we couldn’t wait to team up for the first time and offer another way for guests to enjoy the timeless brand with a new collection.”
I wasn’t lucky enough to have a Nintendo growing up but my best friend’s little brother had one. Guess who got up every single weekend with him at the crack of dawn to play with him? This girl. And guess who didn’t feel one bit guilty beating a six-year-old every single time? You guessed it. I figure I taught him a valuable life lesson about effort or something like that.
If you know a kid (or adult) who would love every single thing about this collection, it is available online now and will be available in stores in the US and UK beginning this weekend, just in time for us last minute shoppers. Not only are the three main characters available, but the clothing and accessories fit any of their bears. It’s a win-win-win.
Happy bear building!
