Good Night, Sleep Tight…

Jeff’s has always had a very special relationship with his grandmother. As a child, he would spend weekend nights at her house, enjoying her home cooked dinners and back rubs. Many of his fondest childhood memories involve tales of her spoiling him rotten. She had the wonderful ability to make each and every grandchild feel like her absolute favorite. As an adult back at her home for visits, Jeff would transform into the little boy he once was, savoring her head rubs and brownies.

She welcomed me instantly into her family and at the end of every visit would embrace me and compliment the family her grandson and I had created together. She adored my children, and despite the many miles that separated them, always made them feel like the most loved and special great-grand children.

She passed away peacefully today, at the age of ninety five. Up until the last couple of weeks, she was up to her old tricks; dancing, planning and living her life to the fullest. She will forever be present in our home, through her good-night poem which the children hear nightly, her cooking and her memory. And she will be forever missed.

I’m so sorry for your loss.

My husband’s granny turned 80 yesterday. She lives next door to his mom, so Shane grew up spending a lot of time at his Granny’s. And she’s famous for her backrubs… must be a grandmother thing!

I think remembering her each night with a bedtime poem is very sweet.
