Dear fellow passengers on the ferry,
I owe you an apology. If you were hoping for a nice and peaceful boat ride, yesterday wasn’t your day. It may not have been my best judgment to let my children take up an entire bench and play dead while laughing hysterically. Ring around the Rosie in the middle of the floor probably should have been stopped as well. But I have trouble ending their fun when they are playing so well together. You should not have had to suffer, though. Sorry. The 25 minute tantrum that my four year old threw while sprawled out on said bench was not fun for anyone, however. I assure you that, although she was wailing “you’re going to throw me off the boat,” I never really intended to. Apparently my humor doesn’t go over well with the four year old crew. I’ll work on sarcasm with her.
I am sorry that I neglected to take my Dramamine, I should have known better. I am sorry to those of you who were trying to enjoy a snack while gazing out at the ocean. I am sorry to those of you who were on deck getting some fresh air. Mostly, I’m sorry for the owner of the black BMW parked below who ended up needing a car wash thanks to the rules of gravity. Those cheerios looked much better the first time around.
The good news for you, fellow riders, is that the subsequent car ride with my children trumped the boat ride by far. The screaming, pinching, biting, hitting and throwing were a million times worse than what you witnessed. Count your blessings. And wish us luck for the rest of the week.

P.S. It’s been a wonderful week so far, other than the transportation part. The kids have been spoiled rotten with cousins, beaches, pools, and ice cream. It’s been great. And the best part is that we’re only weeks from September. And September means school. Thank God.

Kids don’t you just love them. But they looked to be having a great time so the hell with what everyone else thought, your little once so let them have fun.

Thanks for the letter of apology – I assure you my kid would have been doing the same and I would have been the one upchuckin cheerios on BMWs – I so could’ve written that letter (except not quite so well)

OMG I have missed you!!! I am cracking up at the pix and the story. And I so feel your pain on the ride back. MY brats know all the fun has been had and there is nothing they will miss…so they play it for all they can. We still have 11 days 8 hours and 45 seconds until school!!!!
