Last year, on November first, I struck gold. My best friend and I found ourselves in retail utopia, otherwise known as Marshall’s just as the employees were marking down all of the Halloween decor. Giddy with excitement, I piled my cart full with signs and door mats and wreaths. When my first cart was overflowing, I grabbed a second. It was heaven— everything was marked down to a dollar. A dollar. No matter what the original cost, it was a buck. Can you even believe it?
To say that Jeff didn’t appreciate my finds would be the understatement of the century. He couldn’t even muster up the slightest bit of enthusiasm, so I offer them here for your viewing pleasure. {For the record, this is not a paid or endorsed post, blah, blah, blah. I just love me a good deal.}
The kid’s tacky contributions to our decor…
and my absolute favorite…
You better believe that I will be first in line the day after Halloween this year. And next year? Will be over the top.

Looks so festive! I was just thinking about how your screen name/blog name is SO appropriate for the Halloween season! How perfect to find that “scary” sign!

I LOVE Halloween and the decorating! Those are great.
I was so mad, I couldnt find my decorations this year! The hubby feels the need to rearrange the garage about 3 times a year and he cant remember where he put them, or if he even did move them. Nice huh? I think it was a blessing that I couldnt find them cuz they’d be getting ruined right about now. At this moment we have 1 1/2 feet of snow since this morning. All school and halloween activities have been cancelled for today and tomorrow!

Oh how wonderful is that sign???
My mom adores Halloween so we always get her stuff marked down after Halloween (or after Thanksgiving) and give it to her for Christmas. Is that weird? lol

Love the Halloween decor. I am not so lucky in the Marshall’s department. I think I love shopping and I get myself out there and look around and nothing. Maybe I never show up on the right day, I get bored easily, blah, blah, blah. I don’t know. Maybe it’s genetic, in fact, I’m pretty sure it is…the ability to find bargains at places like that. Maybe you’ll adopt me. But that won’t really help unless maybe it’s a nurture/nature thing…hmmm. it’s 3:30am so this isn’t making much sense. But I love your site (and your friends’ sites too). Can’t wait to roam around, get a flip phone and hopefully someday comment coherently and you’ll be as glad to meet me as I am to meet you!

That is a great buy! I only have one little Halloween candy basket for decorations and that was a gift. I’m not one to do much decorating but I like that last one best too! What a great Halloween sign.

I LOVE those after holiday deals that you happen to catch before everyone else gets wind of them, rushes in, takes all the good stuff, and leaves a broken, crumbled mess behind. That’s the best! And, such cute Halloween decor it is! Even the kids’ tacky contributions. Loads better than our handmade ghosts!

Dude, I am SO there on Sunday. Halloween is my fave holiday as far as decorating goes (though I have done NONE this year) so I’m definitely going to be filling carts at Marshall’s in the Swamp. I may even hit TJ Maxx as well! One thing we lack is a close HG though… have to go to Danvers for that. Blah.

I’m always banging on Target’s door to open the day after the holidays (ALL of them) but their paltry 50% and eventually highly picked over 75% usually suck. I am all over Marshall’s this year! Very cute!! And I would never show my husband until next year rolled around :) Just pack it away and convince him we definitely had it last year.
[Reply]
Score!!! Love the signs.
I hide the kids crap decor in their bedrooms and bathroom. Sad isn’t it?

The decorations look amazing!! Halloween is such a fun time of the year although my kids are too old to dress up these days. In case any of have free time while your teens are sleeping in, Bravo announced that they’ll be showing the first 4 episodes of their new show Mercy at 8 am on Halloween. It’s such a great show, I highly recommend it!
