I had back to back events events this weekend, and my feelings about the outfits were all over the map.
First up was a night out with Lily. I loved the denim dress, despite Jeff’s opinion that I looked like a farmer. What does he know? (And, no, I didn’t ask what he thought.) It was comfy and cute and I liked it. So there. And, I even like the pop of color from the scarf. Total win in my eyes.
Evan was especially fascinated with the bracelet.
I wore the fisherman top again on Saturday to a MomzShare event. I love this top and much prefer it with a skirt instead of the shorts from last week. Love the red heels, too, and these ones are actually really comfortable. I would totally wear this one again, (next time with a bigger purse, though!)
And, then there was the farmer’s market outfit.
What can I say about this one? I think it was a case of the sum being less than the parts– is that the saying? I don’t know, I always failed math. I like the cardigan and the bag was cute, but I wasn’t loving the shirt, and then there were the shorts. Again with the shorts.
Do you guys wear shorts? Am I the problem? I can’t get on board with them. But, I did it.
Again.
Speaking of shorts, the top outfit for next Sunday is, um, shorts. Please, please vote for something else for me. Anything else. Pleaaaase?

That sailor top with the skirt and heels looks awesome. Love that outfit. I actually tried on the denim dress but it didn’t quite work on me. I think because i’m really short.
As for the farmer’s market outfit, i think it’s missing a pop of color. Nothing about looks bad, it’s just a bit drab.
I have a hard time finding shorts that i like too.

I would say, bar the shorts (though I like the colour of them, and would totally wear it if they wear trousers) the third outfit is my favourite, but then I’m not a skirt/dresses sort of girl.
Also, I would enter (a non shorts) combo as an option for you; but I’m not allowed – stupid you-have-to-live-in-the-states Rule!
I think you’re being awesome brave doing this, and I’m really enjoying hearing about the whole experience.

I totally agree with Saucy B. Striped shirt & skirt = great. The shorts outfit looks fine on you, it’s just kind of boring and lacking the color and accessories that so many of the other outfits have had.
I suppose the further North you go the less call there is for shorts. Down here in the Sunshine State they are absolutely necessary for survival (no mater how we may look in them). All of my pants are banished to the back of my closet from April to October. I try to mix it up with lots of fun little skirts, but usually my Mom friends look at me as if I have sprouted another head when I go against the Florida SAHM dress code of shorts, tank top, filp flops.
I may have to go buy those red heels you have on in the second pic though. They are fabulous! Hope you can walk in them.
Cheers !

You look great in shorts! My pale skinny legs won’t be ready for them until August.

What’s wrong with shorts? Skirts are all well and good but shorts can be fun and flirty too and you are rocking those olive colored ones. And if you’re like me and you sometimes forget to keep your legs crossed when you’re sitting, shorts will save you from some embarrassing crotch-shots. Love those sassy red heels!
I don’t really know why I don’t like them, but I just don’t. I will give you that they are easier to sit in than shorts, but still not worth the tradeoff for me– I’ve mastered sitting in skirts. Or, I just stop caring about flashing my crotch.
Well, you look great in all the outfits! The sailor shirt actually looks really good with that skirt, and those red heels are awesome (going to go to Target and look for those shoes)!
I am not a huge shorts fan either, but living in Florida I wear them about 90% of the time. The key is, finding the right fit (which is extremely difficult for me). So, I hear you on the shorts!

I love the sailor shirt with the skirt, too!
I think that you are pure adorable! And the dress & scarf couldn’t possibly be cuter.
I also love that you had a night out with Lily. How fun is that?!
For the record, with the shorts, you look *very* Farmer’s Market-ish! Does that help? At all? :)

LOL, I did feel Farmer’s Market-ish. Not sure that’s a good thing, though. :)
i don’t do shorts either…capris all the way!

I went and bought the dress and $150 worth of Merona stuff today, thanks to you. Well, I thank you, my wallet didn’t.
I love the demin dress. The shirtdress trend isn’t going anywhere, and probably for good reason – it’s so flattering. It’s very now, but has a vintage feel. I think you look great in all, but that’s my choice!
I am not a shorts kinda gal too, so I’m with you on that. I like you in dresses and skirts – show off those legs baby! And the red heels, very cute.

I LOVED those red shoes. Sorry I didn’t get a chance to really sit (I mean drink) and talk with you. I think all the outfits look great. happy Monday
LOVE the striped shirt and black skirt. The red shoes with it just looks great! I’m voting against shorts – I promise!

I don’t wear shorts – any more……not since I had my kids. Capris are a staple in my wardrobe now!

No one has seen my legs since 1998. I’m too pale; shorts freak me out. THOUGH the shorts you’re wearing there do meet my criteria for length. I think you look great, Jill.
Yeah shorts are brutal. I always feel like they accentuate all my larger areas. Ahhhhhnnoying! :) You have great legs for shorts though!!!!

I’m surprised to find you in shorts, I had you in a pants outfit for the Market. But I agree with everyone else, the second outfit was the favorite, love the shoes!

i’ll go dive-bomb all computers and electronic devices in sight to vote against shorts. they are no bueno for all… ALL, i say.
I’m with you on the shorts (although unlike your excellent legs, in my case it’s because I’m practically translucent and have no calves). That same outfit with cargo capris would be just as cute.
The denim dress looks great – tell your husband he’s clearly blind. :)

I think I made it clear Saturday night now much I loathe shorts too, but I’ve got to say, you really do look nice in them. Still, message heard loud and clear. Won’t vote for the shorts.

I’m stealing this bit from “Things I Cant’ Say” (who is wonderful by the way)
You are awesome in anything you wear, but I agree – shorts make it hard to concentrate on having fun. I’ll go vote for a Prom gown or something:)

I think you look great! I’m always in shorts in the summer. Sweat pants in the winter. And tank tops. Always tank tops. You are way more put together than me.

Wow, I’m just the opposite. Hate skirts, hate hate hate them! I haven’t bought a skirt since I stopped working–and I’ve been SAHM for 9 years now. When I was chunkier, the thought of my bare skin rubbing together under a skirt was horrid. Always had to wear stockings. There’s no way I could chase after my 4 year old in skirts and flimsy sandals.
I haven’t worn shorts out in public since the 8th grade. No lie. I finally bought a pair of capris last year because they seemed a little too short-like for me. There’s nothing wrong with my legs, except for being white enough to see-through now, I just don’t like shorts.
The striped top and skirt look great! The shoes definitely make that outfit. Though the shorts don’t look bad on you, either.

I like the shorts on you; cute. Of course you’re radiant no matter what, so there’s that. :)
And I take back what I said about not liking the striped top; I think it’s totally cute with the skirt.

I love the first two outfits. Great! Shorts do look good on you. And farmers market is kind of casual.
I have a navy suit of shorts and a jacket. But I prefer to wear it with heels, otherwise short always make me feel, well short.

I think the outfits are cute. I think you look good in the shorts. I know you don’t like them, but at least they are longer. How are they different from a dress? But I did go vote for the stuff that wasn’t shorts. Just for you.

Dresses are just so much more comfortable for me. I don’t like the way shorts look or feel on me. I did see someone yesterday who was wearing the cutest pair, though, so maybe I just haven’t found the right ones.
I am five feet tall, capris look like high waters…shorts it is! Seriously, you look good in the shorts and they are a convenient way to go in hot weather.
I loathe shorts so, I’m with ya! Love the denim dress & red scarf combo. Very cute! I created some outfits for you but, was sad about the lack of options for accessories. We need more choices for you!

I wear shorts ALL the time from April until October because that is the easiest for me and it’s HOT and HUMID here all the time. So yes, I love them. And you have great legs so it’s all good! Do you just like skirts more? I should wear more skirts, they are cute too. :) I love the second outfit too!
You have cute legs, you should always wear shorts.
And, your hubby is crazy, you do not look like a farmer. And even if you did, farmers are hot.

And that outfit was totally not a farmer’s outfit. But my husband would have said the same thing. Boys are dumb.

ditto on hating shorts. there is nothing that shorts do that a cute sassy skirt can’t do. although i do have to say that they look totally good on you. i should send you some really bad pictures!
I love love love the sailor shirt with the skirt and red heels! So cute!!
They all look great; even the shorts!! Although that last outfit did need a pop of color, I think. And yes, I live in shorts during the summer months – you *have* too!

I love shorts and wear them all the time. However since you mentioned you’re not a fan, I’ve kept that in mind when creating and voting for you.
What I don’t understand is the scarf with every outfit. I guess I’m just a huge fashion don’t LOL

I have the same blue and white striped ‘sailor’ top! I saw you post last week in it and thought…Hmm, that looks familiar. And then i just realized I have them same one! I got it on the sales rack at Target for like $6 a couple weeks ago. My boobs aren’t big enough for it to if fits me a little weird around the neck, but it’s so comfy! I love that I can cover most of my tattoos with it too. {Not that you have that problem…}
I love all your outfits!

You look great in all the pictures, honestly. I love the second picture the best, that striped top and red heels, and your gorgeous legs = perfection!
I too HATE shorts, like seriously! I don’t EVER wear them, EVER! Even at the beach! Grade 8 was the last time I felt good in shorts, wait, not grade 10, I remember being at my friends house and wearing a pair of red and navy blue striped shorts. Okay and some jean shorts in high schoool, but yeah.
NO MORE SHORTS YOU GUYS!
I can’t vote, by the way, I LIVE IN CANADA DAMN IT.
