When your husband complains of an earache and stuffiness for weeks on end, you may want to offer up a bit of sympathy rather than rolling your eyes at him. He may just have a double ear infection, sinus infection and popped eardrum.
Just something to keep in mind.
{Sorry, honey.}

Yikes. Though rarely do I get a sympathetic ear from my wife. Did she help you write this?

It must be universal. If you men weren’t such babies, we’d be more sympathetic!
I’m sure he deserved the lack of attention if he’s anything like my husband who acts like he is dying when he has a cold! You’ll make it up to him with extra love today I’m sure!

hi there! First time on your blog came over from Suburban Scrawl . Love your blog name & layout! Can’t wait to read more!
Hope your hubby is ok. I think I would have made the same “oops”! :)

I just went through that but with my husband it was the flu and strep throat. I thought he was just being a big wuss. I mean, c’mon, it’s not like it’s childbirth or anything.

Oh good. It’s not just me.
Men are wimps regardless of how many ears are infected or just plugged. I jumped out of the hospital (moments after a c-section) with twins and infant in tow to run from Hurricane IKE! Later camping out with relatives; sans electricity, hot water, and the IV drugs I was promised by my physician.
So 9 months later, after hubs got the big cut, and whined incessantly for a whole weekend via the couch and refusing to help with his 3 offspring, I had little patience. I read the take home info. He was suppose to feel just a little sore (like someone knee-ed hinm in the groin) with full recovery in two days. You’d think they had cut them off.
I knew then, and after checking his one stitch every few hours, this man knows no real pain…………
Don’t beat yourself up, Scary Mommy!

Well…. if he had just went to the dr sooner then you would have known and you wouldn’t have had to roll your eyes like that. I’m pretty sure we can always find a way to turn it around on to them, at least most of the time anyway.

I have ear problems all the time when I get a cold–my heart goes out to him because that shit hurts!!!!!!
I don’t get sinus infections anymore because I finally broke down last winter and bought a neti pot. Have him buy one, it’s amazing.

It’s his fault he didn’t know how to express his feelings properly and whine..I mean communicate appropriately (-:

My hubby tries not to admit that he’s sick.. He gets no rest at home. It’s easier to catch a nap at the office if it’s necessary. When he DOES admit it tho, he’s down for the count. Tiptoe thru the house and keep the kids quiet or outside is better!
but…usually he doesn’t. Usually he’s just being a big, fat baby.
I’ve had one of these, too. DH complained that his cold was so much worse than mine (I had it the week before) and it turned out to be ear and sinus infections topped with bronchitis. Oops.

How are you supposed to tell the difference between that and a man cold? They are usually such babies about stuff like that. There’s no way you could have known.
Well, if they wouldn’t whine EVERY time they got the sniffles, you wouldn’t tune them out…

Whoops. I’m the same way, though. 95 percent of the time he’s being a baby, so it’s hard not t0 roll my eyes 100 percent of the time. Surprisingly, telling one’s husband to “stop acting like a dumbass” when he’s having a diabetic low leaves one feeling a little guilty.

That is HILARIOUS! My husband is such a baby! Last year he got a cold and stayed in bed for 3 days and was complaining and complaining then we found out he was allergic to his eye meds and his fever shot up to 103. I really felt bad for him then.
He gets a sniffle and he is in bed.
Eeek – poor guy. I hope he feels better soon!

This one time, my husband was sick. I had already planned a trip to my parents’ two hours away, so I left him on the couch. Figured he’d be just fine. Couple hours later he calls, says some wacky stuff, and informs me that his temperature is 105. DEGREES. FARENHEIT.
And all I could say was, “Sorry, hon. Take some ibuprofen?” You know, because I was two hours away already.
He still brings that up to this day.
Congratulations, I think this is my longest comment ever!

Oooops. My 13 year old had this same problem in the Spring. I was convinced he was fine until he said it sounded like I was talking to him under water. Yikes. Even though the doctor tried to make me feel better by saying that it’s okay to wait these things out because they mostly take care of themselves, my son would NOT let me live it down.
How’s hubby now?

My wife has been battling a horrible sinus infection and let me tell you she is not having much fun. And every time I get bummed because the two of us never have any fun she gets furious and says I’m selfish. She may be right…..
She was going on about it the other night and was watching a video about a balloon sinuplasty procedure or something. She is now convinced that this is the thing for her and has a doctor appointment tomorrow where she will talk about it. I don’t have a clue.
I hope she feels better. And not because I am selfish. At least not only because of that, ha.
She’s DRESSED! Not in her ratty old jammies!

I think it’s a heavily researched and proven fact that men suffer all illness %200 worse than women isn’t it?
I’ve literally been on my hands and knees cleaning up kid barf, throwing up in the bucket myself (love the stomach flu) and had my ex-husband step over me on his way out with his friends…
“Have a good day babe, call me if you need anything…”
I kid you not and I assure you, he didn’t make it all the way out the door.

You know it would help if they weren’t such big babies the other times they get sick when really they’re not that sick. Maybe THEN we’d take them a little more seriously.
Where on earth did you find this picture? Although I have never been to your house, this doting wife is something that you (AND I) will never be.
Our people subscribe to the “suck it up” mantra.
Besides, our husbands knew what they were getting into before they said, “I do.”

I roll my eyes everytime my husband says he isn’t feeling good. I immediately think “Well when I’m sick I still cook, clean, play with the kids, cart everyone around the whole damn state, work, and still deal with you tapping on my shoulder at the end of the night looking to get some”
Hey, at least I don’t SAY any of that. I’m sure he can read most of that on my face. I just say “oh, do you need anything?”
I suppose I could be nicer. :-x
