How to be the Best Wife in the World (Tip #1)

November 11, 2009

81773992

When your husband complains of an earache and stuffiness for weeks on end, you may want to offer up a bit of sympathy rather than rolling your eyes at him. He may just have a double ear infection, sinus infection and popped eardrum.

Just something to keep in mind.

{Sorry, honey.}

Oh good. It’s not just me.

Men are wimps regardless of how many ears are infected or just plugged. I jumped out of the hospital (moments after a c-section) with twins and infant in tow to run from Hurricane IKE! Later camping out with relatives; sans electricity, hot water, and the IV drugs I was promised by my physician.

So 9 months later, after hubs got the big cut, and whined incessantly for a whole weekend via the couch and refusing to help with his 3 offspring, I had little patience. I read the take home info. He was suppose to feel just a little sore (like someone knee-ed hinm in the groin) with full recovery in two days. You’d think they had cut them off.

I knew then, and after checking his one stitch every few hours, this man knows no real pain…………

Don’t beat yourself up, Scary Mommy!

My hubby tries not to admit that he’s sick.. He gets no rest at home. It’s easier to catch a nap at the office if it’s necessary. When he DOES admit it tho, he’s down for the count. Tiptoe thru the house and keep the kids quiet or outside is better!

I’ve had one of these, too. DH complained that his cold was so much worse than mine (I had it the week before) and it turned out to be ear and sinus infections topped with bronchitis. Oops.

Whoops. I’m the same way, though. 95 percent of the time he’s being a baby, so it’s hard not t0 roll my eyes 100 percent of the time. Surprisingly, telling one’s husband to “stop acting like a dumbass” when he’s having a diabetic low leaves one feeling a little guilty.

That is HILARIOUS! My husband is such a baby! Last year he got a cold and stayed in bed for 3 days and was complaining and complaining then we found out he was allergic to his eye meds and his fever shot up to 103. I really felt bad for him then.

He gets a sniffle and he is in bed.

This one time, my husband was sick. I had already planned a trip to my parents’ two hours away, so I left him on the couch. Figured he’d be just fine. Couple hours later he calls, says some wacky stuff, and informs me that his temperature is 105. DEGREES. FARENHEIT.
And all I could say was, “Sorry, hon. Take some ibuprofen?” You know, because I was two hours away already.
He still brings that up to this day.
Congratulations, I think this is my longest comment ever!

Even though the doctor tried to make me feel better by saying that it’s okay to wait these things out because they mostly take care of themselves, my son would NOT let me live it down.
