Yes, I love Jennifer Lopez

I have a confession to make: I kind of love Jennifer Lopez.

By kind of, I mean that I love every movie I’ve ever seen her in.

Don’t judge.

Alright, I know you will, but hear me out.

Today, I rented The Back-up Plan. An Oscar winner? Perhaps not, but I was totally entertained the whole damn time. It was funny and sweet and formulaic enough that missing a few moments here and there wasn’t going to ruin the experience. There were parts of it that portrayed motherhood really accurately. I’m actually watching it for the second time right now, in fact. Ahem.

Monster-in-Law is another one. It’s one of those movies that I catch on TNT every few months and always stop to watch it. That and How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, but I digress. I’ve had a crush on Michael Vartan since his Alias days and though he’s dumb as shit in the movie, Jenny from the Block is funny and Jane Fonda is a revelation. Kind of.

And, who can criticize Maid in Manhattan? I mean, suppose it would be easy to, but why? Do you go exposing Santa Claus to young children as well? It’s just a good old romantic comedy. You don’t need to think about it or interpret it, you just watch. It’s refreshing. Same with The Wedding Planner. So, so great. In a not so great kind of way.

Shall We Dance is a tad deeper, but still cheesy enough and it’s hard not to love Richard Gere in dancing shoes. If the last scene doesn’t melt you, you’re made of stone. Seriously, it’s gooooood.

Now, I’ve never proclaimed to have good taste in movies. Or even decent. If the New York Times loves it or Rotten Tomatoes rates it resoundingly fresh, I will not be a fan.

But, J. Lo makes me happy. And I bet she could make you happy, too.

If you only gave her the chance.

She is actually not a bad actress! And totally gorgeous, too. What was the movie she was in with Ben Affleck, the one where she died? Argh. And the other movie, where she was in an abusive relationship and escaped with her daughter? That was good. And that one where she worked as a wedding planner? Loved that movie!

I think the Ben AFfleck on was Gigli , and I have NOT seen that b/c um… it’s Ben AFfleck. Sorry Sydney Bristow. MAybe he should take over J-lo’s singing carreer and not act.

Jersey Girl was with that chick from Armageddon. Liv Tyler?
Julie recently posted..Coach Mom

Reply

25 Katie September 9, 2010 at 4:48 am

You’re both right. Jersey Girl had J. Lo but she died at the beginning and then Liv Tyler was in it for the rest. It’s a Kevin Smith movie so I should automatically love it but the only thing that saved it was George Carlin.

She was also in Gigli w/ Ben Affleck but it tanked… shocking.

The one with the abusive relationship was called Enough.

I’m not really a J. Lo fan so I don’t know why I know all this… I’m a little nervous for myself now!

So there’s that, all cleared up.

And, I agree. I really want to love Jennifer Garner because, well, I DO love her, but her choice of movies kinda circle the drain.

She is so incredibly likable in her movies. As a musician, well, not my favorite… but because of the movies, I’ll call it even.

Um, what’s NOT to love about JLo? Totally entertaining movies and she’s hot. The Wedding Planner? Awesome when you have a bad cold. . .

My ultimate JLo pick is The Wedding Planner, “You saved my shoe.” She is adorable and her big butt makes me no so down on my own. And who doesn’t love that?

I love her. Know why? Because she’s one of the best hip hop dancers ever. I mean, *seriously,* move over Paula. JLo is da bomb! (Mind you, Paula is one of my favourite dancers/choreographers, too — the difference is, though, that JLO’s still really got it — is she ever gorj…). Also loved Maid in Manhattan! (Did not like The Cell — forever haunted.)
