Dear Good Fortune,
It was totally amazing to find my son’s favorite bear in that Marshall’s bin six months after it disappeared. I still can’t believe our unbelievable luck. I don’t think I’ll ever get over the shock of it.
Next time, however, I wish you’d rethink the fortune you bestow upon me. The bear was incredible, but how about everything that’s happened since? Having my hot water heater, refrigerator and dryer break all at once really wasn’t appreciated. That pebble that cracked the windshield in the rental car one day before I needed to pick my car up from the shop? That totally sucked. And giving me the flu when Jeff is away for three days is just plain cruel.
So, the next time you’re thinking you owe me something, let’s stick to saving my thousand dollar appliances or keeping miserable, highly contagious illnesses far from my house. As much as I appreciate the bear, I think I’d appreciate those even more.
Thank you.

We just got off a run of our own bad luck, including, death, dissolving marriages, stop-loss redeployment to the middle-east and a full-on stomach flu lasting over a week. I offer you my sincerest sympathies.
I hope your luck turns around.
(That is so, so sad about the tragedies in other blogger’s lives.)
That sounds like my life. But JUST like my life, I consider it to be far better problems to have than others. I didn’t follow Tuesday’s story – but just heard about her recently. It’s heartbreaking and a reminder to be thankful for every day with our children – even if the day includes broken appliances. Because children can’t always be repaired. And they can never be replaced.
Sorry about the Flu.
When it rains it pours. Here’s to some good luck for ya.
Oh and btw, get the flu shot!
Hopefully, good fortune will come back and help you with all the misfortune you’ve had.
Ah, Fate. What a fickle friend. Wishing the good to outweigh the bad for you. Soon.
While mine are not necessarily totally bad luck, I certainly wish it would change.
A toast to the luck turning around. Fast!
but finding the bear was totally worth it. especially if the boy gets sick and throws up all over one of the bears, cause now you have a back up again!
By the way… can we comment anywhere within this shoppingspree time window or do we have to comment in the shopping spree post?
I just wanted to stop by to thank you for making the Welcomista button! I love it:0)
a little good luck just seems to pale in the face of all that bad. Karma may be a bitch but she just might owe you big time in the near future
I hate it when I get crapped on.
thinking of you.
When it rains it pours, right?
I would give up all my modern conveniences everyday if it were to send enough Karma to save me from the anguish Tuesday’s family is going through.
Ack! Well bad things happen in 3s so you should be alllll kinds of set!
Just like winning a dollar scratch ticket rather than the Lotto. I have Lotto on the brain today.
Sorry to hear about the troubles. Here’s to better times.
That is rough! I hope you have a better streak soon.
Nice letter. Me? I would have just curled up in the fetal position, rocking in the corner until all the bad stuff went away.
Okay not really, but dang that sucks that it all happened at once.
BTW the button for the Welcomistas RAWKS!
Yeah, a bear comes your way but the other crap…stay away…so living that right now.

thanks for creating the welcomista button, it turned out great. i love it!
Good Fortune can be a real bitch!
I SO can’t believe you found that bear!
May your next good fortune be the lottery! Really!!!
Through the years I’ve found stuff like that happens in clumps. I don’t know why. It’s maddening and really ticks me off. Then I feel all mad and sorry for myself and read about families who have ill children or something else and feel the EXTREME GUILT, which is almost as bad a Mommy Guilt. I still think it would be nice if broken things and sickness would be spread out.
