Thank you for your honest post. I'm so sorry you had to experience it. I was shattered when I miscarried...twice. I, too, am a planner and dreamer and I had always assumed I'd have lots of babies running around. I got married later at 30 and thought I'd have plenty of time, but then we had trouble getting pregnant. I was overjoyed when we finally did with the help of some entry level fertility treatment. It never occurred to me that after finally getting pregnant, that I wouldn't STAY pregnant! I remember the grief being so searing and well meaning friends offering comfort by encouraging us to try again. I just felt so betrayed by my body and so incredibly sad. Having said that, I was amazed at how many women I knew had experienced a miscarriage and DNC. I felt like I had entered this reluctant club that I didn't know existed, and knowing they understood really helped me navigate through the experience. I hope you are able to surround yourself with great friends and family as you move forward. It will be worth it, and the bliss you experience at being pregnant and holding your baby will be multiplied tenfold for having this experience. You will likely not be one of the pregnant women who complains about their pregnancy. In my experience, I found myself so incredibly grateful for every bit of it. Good luck and take care.

Elimination Communication (EC) is a form of potty training. It starts in infancy and you basically pick up on non-verbal cues and baby's sounds to discern when they need to potty or "eliminate". Just like you'd do with their cues that tell you their hungry, upset, etc. You can practice it daily, with diaper-free time, time on the baby's toilet, etc. Eventually, it works out so that they are potty trained very, very young. My friend's little girl is 14 months and is fully potty trained and has been for quite some time!

There's lots of info on the web about it, and videos on YouTube too!

I'm so sorry for your loss. Yes, it REALLY sucks when our bodies don't do what we want them to do, or what they were made to do. I've had three miscarriages, but also have two beautiful girls. I wrote about miscarriage last year when a close friend also experienced a loss. I'm sure you can relate. http://onthenightyouwereborn.wordpress.com/2009/11/09/miscarriage-sucks/

Good luck as you try again!!

"Twinsies". I love it!

I read a great article about elimination communication in one of the more recent issues of Mothering Magazine. It actually sounds pretty easy if you just make it part of your normal routine. My friend is doing it and her 14 month old is totally potty trained! Crazy.

Wow. My sister just emailed me this link and wrote: "During parts of this I thought you wrote it." I could have. Brittany, I think we're twinsies. Except, I'll swap elimination communication for baby food making. Unlike you, I think the first sounds impossible and the second is definitely in my future. Making my way over to your blog...

Oh I totally resonate with you ... I've had 3 MC's myself, and all I could do was wait to get my period back to try again.

You're so positive - here's to it happening sooner than later!
