Lily has a little Fisher Price camera, given to her a few years ago by her Uncle (best gift ever.) It just eats batteries, though, so we alternate between phases of it being used constantly and it being buried in her closet, dead and useless. Every few months, Lily uncovers it and I replace the batteries. Once again it’s her favorite toy and she can’t put it down, documenting life behind the little pink lens. Her images always crack me up and give me some interesting insight into my girl. She’s been a busy little bee over the last few days of fresh batteries, and I think, is showing enormous promise.

So… without further ado, I present you with a selection of the photographs, from the artist herself.

Impressive, huh?All images are available for purchase and will be hand signed. Please inquire. Full portfolio available upon request.

My daughter loves hers too. In fact, I just posted a picture of her using it yesterday. They don’t hold up all that well over the long-term unfortunately. My son’s no longer keeps the pictures in memory – he takes them and they vanish – and my daughter’s camera takes them but then won’t upload them to the computer. Luckily she doesn’t care and just keeps deleting them to take more.

The self portraits are awesome. Kids today have the coolest things to play with. As I recall my sister’s first camera was a Brownine camera. And you had to wait 3 to 4 weeks for the pics to come back. And you had to walk 5 miles in the snow to get them.

I second Coconut Cake’s suggestion: My kiddo has the same camera (in pink as well) and after going through approximately ninety million batteries in approximately two weeks after she received it (’twas a Best Gift Ever from her grandmother a few Christmases ago), we got rechargeables. SO much better, and you know, you can pretend you’re doing it because you’re green and want to save the environment, when really the only green you care about honestly is the green in your wallet not going for more batteries…..

I also love the Warholesque kid pictures – very cool!

I had an electronic flash that ate through batteries faster than I could take pictures. I switched to rechargeable batteries and the flash worked perfectly, lasted longer and I did not have to throw out the batteries when they were dead and mess up the environment. The only trick is that you have to keep the batteries charged. What size batteries does the camera take? I may have some I can give to Lily with a charger.

Love, Papa.

I am such a believer in giving kids a camera to shoot with… they have such an amazing perspective and view of the world.
These are great! And of course someone beat me to the Andy Warhol comparison! What a creative girl!

ahhh Lily’s world- sweet- especially love the chest thump!
We got our son a cheap video camera when he was six- it molded his life- of course he makes films now, sometimes, when he is not slacking hard! AND we have some interesting kid films from times gone by that are sometimes so endearing they make you weep and sometimes so painful cringing, throwing up,and sheer terror are understatements.
