What would you do if you were given these amounts, seperately?

For us:

$500 - This unfortunately wouldn't make much difference. I would buy my boy some damn clothes (I've asked him to stop growing but he said no :P) and do a medium shop. Money gone.

$5,000 - A new freaking bed $2,000. Car stuff that needs doing $1,000. Clothes for us all $500. Big food shop $500. Computer desk for hubby $500. Bookshelf $400. Linen cupboard $100. Money gone.

$50,000 - A new freaking bed $2,000. Clothes for all of us $500. Big food shop $1,000. Computer desk for hubby $500. Bookshelf/linen (5k or 50k, this would make a big impact on our living space) $500. Lawyers fees, see if there's anything we can do RE: biodad situation $5,000 (at least). A month long camping/motelling road trip up the east coast of Oz, with money to actually visit the really fucking expensive attractions. Beaches, mini golf and amusement parks :D $5,000. Pay off old debt. Unsure of the exact amount, but $5,000 tops. A (new as we're comfortable spending) car, total absolute max $25,000. Total $44,500, leaving $5,500 for savings/miscellaneous spending.

For instance one from my life...

My third son was transverse and need a C-section, during which he got stuck which caused a panic attack that required me to be sedated. When they finally got him out he was barely alive, not breathing hardly a heart beat and they somehow nicked an artery in me and I almost bled out. My poor Dh had just watched both his wife and newborn almost die and when he went into the nursery with our son who was just over 11.5 lbs and 22.5 inches long the nurse there asked the nurse why she was bringing in a non-newborn child. When it was explained that the baby was indeed a newborn nursery nurse said "bullshit, that kid looks like he is 3 months old, damn the mom must be huge"  My sweet Dh already pushed to the breaking point almost slugged the nursery nurse. The saddest part about this is that all the nurses knew there was a baby being born and had heard the announcement for pediatrics to the OR stat like 15 minutes earlier.
