    http://fox6now.com/2012/05/21/video-dad-puts-toddler-in-washing-machine-turns-it-on/

A couple put their toddler in a washing machine, presumably to scare him. But then they turned the washing machine on. Unfortunately, the machine had an auto-lock system and trapped the toddler insider while the washer starts to run.

The child tumbled helplessly in the machine while water was pouring in. The video clearly shows the parents trying to open the locked door and then searching for help.

Eventually an attendant was able to open the machine — and get the child out.

The child suffered only minor injuries — and is safe.

Security footage captured the moment a father frantically tried to rescue his child from a washing machine after he put him inside as a prank, but the door locked and it turned on automatically.

The video, recorded on May 11 and uploaded to YouTube, shows the man and a woman doing their laundry as a young boy, believed to be their son, plays in front of the machines.

As the woman is sorting through their clothes on a table, the man picks up the boy, puts him inside the machine and shuts the door.

But as soon as the door shuts the machine starts a washing cycle.

The adults are seen in the video wildly yanking at the door to try and open it before the woman gives up and begins yelling and clapping for help.

Despite there being several other people in the shop, nobody comes to their aid, and the couple is forced to leave their child spinning in the machine to find someone to turn it off.

While they are gone, the little boy's white shoes can be seen spinning around and hitting the glass window at the front of the machine.

The man and woman eventually return with a Laundromat employee who goes behind the machine and turns it off at the back.

But the employee still struggles to open the machine, causing the father to jump up and down in the distress as the mother storms away and hits a table.

Finally he gets the machine open and the video ends as the father grabs the child from the machine and walks out of sight, with the woman close behind him.

The person who posted the video online did not say where the incident took place but said the child suffered only minor injuries.

That's awful! Not cool as a prank at all, you could seriously traumatized your child doing shit like that :(

A friend of my mom's put me in a trunk and closed it when i was about 10. I know it sounds fucked but that was the last day I believed there is a god... I'm a little dramatic and as an adult I probably would have came to my decision trunk or not but I still remember it as "the day that I stopped believing in god"

Sorry of it's a bit off topic but it totally jogged my memory.

Ironically they lock so children CAN'T get in during a wash cycle. Seems they need to idiot parent proof them now with an emergency open button. Mine locks but if you pause it or turn it off it will unlock in about 3 seconds.

most laundrymats just lock... you CAN'T emergency unlock them unless say the power is cut (which I'm guessing is what they did to get it to unlock) can you imagine all the water on the floor if they didn't have the locks? but gosh... no parent would ever put their child in a washer and set it to go.

@mamateeroll the mom was just as much an idiot as the dad, she watched him put the child in and allowed him to close the door. She only reacted once the washer began to spin. the video is the first link and you see her glance over as he picks the child up, put the child in, and closes the door :(

I have to agree with @eapple. we have no audio... so we don't know what (if anything) was said. did she physically do it? no. did she stop it? no.

I watched the video twice to be sure. She actually looks at him putting the child in, and then looks around to see if someone is watching and looks back at him closing the door. Gah where the fuck is the motherly instinct? I freak out when dan gives lily peppers and she likes them lol

I also read that 2 children have died, recently, in washing machines. One father put his 3 year old in one and turned it on as a punishment. Really - what goes through someone's mind when they decide to put their child inside a washing machine??

Something is up with this video...I hope so, because the alternative is horrifying.
I was wondering if that was an actual child.

These people use this laundromat? Wouldn't they know the washer starts right up?
Wouldn't they have put money in or swiped their card 1st?
    Doesn't the physicality seem staged?
I think all you would see is my back as I tried to break the glass, pull the plug, all while screaming my head off.

Holy crap. It's true. happened in Camden, NJ.

The woman who owns the laundromat went to the police today & gave them the video. Her son posted it from their camera system last week & it went viral...6m hits & climbing.

Owner was there when it happened. The man claimed he didn't know money was in the machine & it would actually start. She reported him saying "oh, I'm in trouble..", & being scared when the baby was in there. Witnesses say the child was about 1 yr old.

She also said the boy had only a few bruises, was actually laughing after.
Camden prosecuter's office is asking the couple to come forward. Saying the incident doesn't appear to be criminal, but want them to prove that the boy is ok.

The owner says that as ridiculous as it sounds, she has to protect herself..
& soon will be putting up signs telling customers not to put children in the washers & dryers... 8-|

Camden is about a half hour from me. It is not a nice place. A lot of drug use. Kinda doesnt surprise me that it happened there.

Ug, I was really hoping this was faked. I can totally see dh doing this as a joke, and I wouldn't really protest until he went to close the door. Actually, if dh was going to take a funny pic, it would be safer to close the door, and if the machine was set to go, it would be too late. I wouldn't want him doing it in public, or where I didn't know how the machines worked, but I have to let him parent sometimes. This type of thing is why that idea scares me!

This was on our local news today. DYFS has stepped in and are investigating. It wasnt the baby's mother. It was a babysitter, the mother says she didnt know anything about the incident until she saw the video on the news.

Wouldn't that kinda be important information to share with the kid's mother?? Poor kid. Based on genetics, I don't think rocket science is in his future.

I'd have his balls and her head on a platter.

When I was little my babysitter threw a party and as a joke, one of her friends called the fire dept. -- Imagine my parents arriving home with a fire truck and police cars in the driveway.

Just another reason for me not to trust babysitter with my baby.

Ok, wasn't dad either. Dad is in jail & just heard about this whole thing. Mom saw it on tv.
Seems like the world saw it before mom even knew about it!
Some reports say it was Dad's gf, some just say the sitter. Not clear who the guy is yet...

So mom sees it on tv, calls sitter who denies it. Child had bruises, sitter told mom he fell
    while she was watching him.
