Mickey Shunick turned 22 on Monday. She has been missing since Saturday. My community is at a loss. There are no leads, no clues, no tips. We have a large percentage of our community who uses bikes a transportation. I know our members are spread throughout the country and we have alot in the south, if you see her please call.

They found surveillance video of her riding her bike at 148 am. They are looking for 2 vehicles that were seen on same footage. But nothing has been found!

@Birdie the last update I saw from my Lafayette friends is that they're looking for like 4 cars now. We're spreading the word down here in NOLA, too!

@finallyfree2bme. Yes. There are 3 vehicles. 2 trucks and a car.

The local news has reported her bike was found at an exit near the atchafalaya basin. No confirmation from police yet. If this is the case there are 100's of acres of swamp there and it's scary.

Please pray for her family to be prepared to handle any news that may come.

It has been confirmed that it is her bike that was found by fishermen today.

@finallyfree2bme. I'm sure you know that exit. And you definately know the area. It's hard to stay positive when you know what's down there. And how many acres there are in the atchafalaya. And how dense the swamp is.

My friends east of here please post the missing sign. The bike was dumped I-10 east.

I told professor where and his face just fell. That area is just so dense and goes on for so many miles.

Cops are back on scene at whiskey bay. It's 10pm here. Possible evidence in the case. 3 different parishes are out there with state police and FBI. Word is its her body. Please pray for her family.

That's so scary. If nothing else (if the worst has happened) I hope her family gets closure (I hate that word) and more importantly justice.

An arrest has been made in the case. Police are currently searching a major crime scene that 'may or may not' be connected to the case. But they said they will give info at tomorrows press conference concerning the arrest. The crime scene is 30 miles north of here in Lawtell.

Still have not found her. They found his truck that was seen on surveillance burned in Texas. He is not cooperating.

It is with a very heavy heart that I type this. Police believe they have found Mickey's body in a wooded area in Evangeline parish. They cannot confirm that it is her until tests results are in. They were led to the area by credible tips and discovered the body that the police chief has said he believes is Mickey.

Brandon Scott Lavergne pleads guilty to murdering Lisa Pate and Mickey Shunick in exchange for life in prison. Lavergne was required to show police where Mickey Shunick's body was buried and physically recreate the actions on May 19. Lavergne signed of statements the prosecution presented to the court. Those statements say Lavergne followed Shunick down St. Landry Street in his truck. He intentionally hit her bike and persuaded her into his vehicle. She was able to mace him, grab his knife, and stab him several times, giving him what were described as "life-threatening cuts." He grabbed the knife back and stabbed Shunick four times until she fell over. At this point, Lavergne thought she was dead. However, when Lavergne brought Shunick to a seclude cane field in Acadia Parish, she jumped up and regained control of knife. Shunick stabbed him in the chest. That's when Lavergne grabbed a semi-automatic handgun and shot Shunick in the head, killing her instantly.
