I started reading the first book about two days ago (don't get much time with a 22 month old) and I'm not 100% sure how I feel about them.  I don't mind kinky borderline sex if it's on offer but the contract and the stipulations about how the sub should act, dress, eat etc makes me damned mad at Christian!  I also think he's a bit of a psychopath! Other than that, I feel like I need to get an air conditioner installed.  HOT! HOT! HOT!

Has anyone read these?  What did you think?

Thank you Sammie. I have found yet another way to lose wast amounts of my life to the internet lol.  I have loved this site for a long time, but never did really take the time to get involved with the threads, let alone post.  Maybe I am just getting older now and the reality that I may never truly be happy in the sex arena is something that scares the hell out of me lol.

Is there an underlying reason you don't enjoy sex? Upbringing? Past abuse? If so then seek counciling, it can help you get to the root of the issue and make it easier to deal with sex. If not then you may want to have your hormone levels checked. Lack of estrogen can cause low libido. Sorry in any event! I genuinely wish every woman could own her body and enjoy the pleasures of sex.
Darling, a true lady takes off her dignity with her clothes and does her whorish best! At other times you can be as modest and dignified as your persona requires.

I do have issues from my childhood (parent that had a very real aversion to clothing anytime they were home, and no reservations about fondling each other...as well as other things growing up), but my adult brain knows that those were wrong and that I should be well beyond them.  Not that I am or I even know, but either way, I certainly have a tendency to never trust a therapist (tried that a few times).  Not that they are bad people, but I actually was great friends with 4!! of them...how strange is that.  Hell...they needed more help than their clients.  Not to mention the conversations we had about their clients (no names mentioned) that gave us hours of entertainment.

My biggest problem is that I am just incredibly inhibited and have never found the human body (male or female) sexually attractive.  I prefer it clothed (trendy styles if I have a choice, lol).  And the scents...I think I am missing whatever hormone it is that is supposed to make those smells enticing.

My DH is probably very normal in that he is comfortable with his and my body (much to my dismay sometimes, as I think he could stand a bit more modesty).

@kkduo, have been married for nearly 19 years.  My DH was a virgin when we got together.  He was completely clueless!  After 4 children and many ups and downs, we are finally enjoying the best sex we have ever had.

My very best wishes that you may reach a point in your life when you are able to "let go" and enjoy.

I just stareted reading this book. So far it's good. I haven't gotten into the juicy parts yet. I'm not a big reader but this actually has my attention. LOL

I read the first book, and the second is waiting on my Kindle! Was NOT the most well-written, but those sex scenes were a lot of fun!!

That being said, I honestly think that if your hubby is your best friend, and would do anything for you in the bedroom as you say, why not ask him?? And I don't mean, ask him tonight to tie you to the bed, but start slow and see where it goes! Maybe he'll like it too... or maybe you won't!

I am reading these books right now.  Finished number 1 in no time flat and am into number 2 right now. WOWEE they turn me on.  DH knows I am reading them and knows what they are about, he is actually the one that talked me into reading them.  We are going to try out some things from the book and I am NERVOUS! ;)

I sooo appreciate you posting this- I feel exactly the same way. (hubs, best friend, but someone to play with would be nice) I need to start those books- they are waiting in my Kindle!
Maybe they will help in the bedroom. Maybe I am just looking to sow some wild oats that i never did. Why did I have to be so "good" in my youth? ha!

Fine, but I am just amazed that there has not been the same hype for a fabulous novel entitled 'Golden Rose'.
It is erotic in the extreme and yet maintains a certain dignity. The story is totally original; there is of course deep romance, drama, comedy, in fact everything that is natural in life.
I came across it on the Pink Flamingo website.

I just finished reading the last one last night. I was a little intimidated by the crazy bdsm in the first one but after that it was awesome. The love and commitment between the two lead characters was amazing and I really want to find a "Christian" of my own :>
I prefer not to think before speaking. I like being just as surprised as everyone else by what comes out of my mouth.

I have yet to read any of the Shades of Grey and am a little hesitant to.  Anyone who has read them... how much and extreme do they go into the BDSM stuff.. not only am I not interested in that at all.. it's a huge turn OFF for me. I don't want to bother even starting on it if the majority of their relationship and sexual encounters include physical violence. (tying hands type stuff is ok.. but no smacking/whips etc.)

    @Boring_name

I'd say 96% of all their sexual encounters involves at least bondage.
After the first book, there's not much further whipping, minus, like, one hand-spanking in each sequel. (eta, I take that back, I think there's a situation with a riding crop in the last one, but it's pretty light)

The first book is pretty intense at the climax. My best guestimate from what you've written is that you won't be able to enjoy the love-story part of the books, for the BDSM theme that is predominate.

@boring_name...I feel exactly the same way you do and had I known prior to reading the books, what they were about, I would never have read them.  And I would have missed out on the best trilogy I have ever read, literally.  Yes, there are issues that surround the whole BDSM thing, but honestly, it never really got into it between the two main characters.  It was more of a reference towards BDSM throughout, but never really the acts of.  I think you should try them.  It's actually more sex than anything.

Much much SM/bondage in the sleeping beauty books. That poor princess pays for that kiss that wakes her up. But I like that kinda stuff. And the writing is what you would expect from Anne Rice - detailed and amazing.

Thanks @Love and @MyInnerGoddess I appreciate the feed back... I might look at them when I find a free download... LOL

@FreeToBeMee  that's a really old series isn't it? (close to 20yrs or more?)  My DH used to work at a book distribution warehouse (OMG do I miss that!!) anyway.. they'd get free books etc.. and he did bring the 1st one of those home... I don't think he never read it.. I made it through a few chapters... and got rid of it.. was definitely not my thing!

@boring_name an excerpt from the most intense scene:

now the tears are streaming down my face. I don’t want to cry. It angers me that I am crying.
    He hits me again.
“Five.” My voice is more a choked, strangled sob, and in this moment I think I hate him.
One more, I can do one more. My backside feels as if it’s on fire.
“Six,” I whisper as the blistering pain cuts across me again, and I hear him drop the belt behind me, and he’s pulling me into his arms, all breathless and compassionate  …   and I want none of him.
“Let go  …   no  …” And I find myself struggling out of his grasp, pushing him away. Fighting him. “Don’t touch me!” I hiss.

IMO that's the worst of it, but it's considered necessary for the storyline to continue for the sequels. If you can get through it, or flip through it, the rest is cake.

Honestly, I like BDSM-light, and those pages were hard for me to read, and I've never been able to not finish a book before, and I've read some seriously demented stuff, so I pushed through. I liked the second and third books a LOT better than the first.

Maybe I'm a little vindictive.. but anyone tries that with me... will find their belt/crop/whatever in an orifice it really doesn't fit in!!

    Right?
I have the utmost respect for other people's life style choices, but I am NOT a sub and the pain that comes from a leather belt does nothing for me sexually and I shudder to think what would happen if...LOL
    It's just not my thing.
But I know a lot of people don't like being tied up, and I do, so it's just a personal preference, like anything else.

    It kills me.

I should look up the Anne Rice series. I loved her writing, it's very sensual. And I actually like intense bdsm. Reading it, that is.

I just finished reading the trilogy and loved every minute. Couple of times I winced at what was happening but in general there is enough of the other stuff that you can't stop reading. Best part though is my DH is interested in reading it. He is not into anything remotely kinky, not that I really am, but using some light bondage might be fun. Can't wait to see the movie!

    Are they making a movie?
Y'all know that this book was originally called Master of the Universe and was a book about Edward and Bella from twilight? That's why I starting reading it because I'm a teenage girl on the inside in love with the twilight series. Lol!

    Hi Love,
In answer to your question. No the title given is complete 'Golden Rose'. Here is a link to the publisher:

It is a unique approach to an erotic novel. No holds bared and yet not offensive in any way.
Try it. Novel being the key word, because it has a highly original story to bolster the genre.

@mommyto3.  I tried to open those links and when I went to click on the download button/read on computer button, the books never came up.  Downloading to a device gave me the infamous 404 page not found, and the read on computer or whatever brought up only the last page that read, the end.  Does one have to have an account on epub?  Or could you try them yourself and see if they work please?

For anyone who has read Fifty Shades...

My BF and I were walking down the street. I had told him a few days before how I had finished the book, thought it was fun, but not well written. He says his sister, who he lives with, asked him to download it, AND she sent it to her boyfriend's mom.

I was SO grossed out, I stopped in the middle of the sidewalk, and told him that him downloading Fifty Shades for his sister was like downloading softcore porn for her... EWWWWW!!

Anyways, it doesn't matter, I just wanted to share!
