It is for me to know and you to dot dot dot.
-
This is for you then @Thefinder
I'm a giant Scifi nerd, so anything related I'm going to love, watched Firefly 63 times while deployed.
@-) also Stanley Kubrick movies are my bane.
You show the lights that stop me turn to stone, You shine it when I'm alone. And so I tell myself that I'll be strong
And dreaming when they're gone. -
Oh I am crying =)) I love that scene @FoulMouthedSailor Thanks for showing it to me. I thought the Maury Povich clip on the side was hilarious too.
-
You guys are cute. like it's a bad thing to love firefly (or serenity!) @foulmouthedsailor
I watch things like... Kill Bill ... or Dogma... Princess Bride... My Best Friends Wedding... 10 Things I Hate About You
at least I have some variety?
But I'm with @TheFinder Kevin Smith is a GOD. Did you see his tv show? I'm not sure it's still on. it's about the comic book store he owns? sadly i found it dull and annoying.
Just keep swimming. Just keep swimming. Just keep swimming, swimming, swimming. What do we do? We swim, swim. -
@Luvlyssa Clerks was his best series, animated one I mean. Movies were good too, except he failed every one on Jersey Girl. You show the lights that stop me turn to stone, You shine it when I'm alone. And so I tell myself that I'll be strong
And dreaming when they're gone. -
I am a sci fi nerd as well, but don' twatch alot of tv or movies. I love the old sci fi novels. DH calls them my "sexy space stories".
-
I think I am going to try Firefly @foulmouthedsailor. It has always been my secret ambition to colonize on another planet. I wouldn't do well in space though for real, I'm totally agoraphobic.
-
I am kind of addicted to Quentin Tarantino films.
I also love this one weird-ass, disturbing, freaky movie that pretty much everyone I know HATES called Freeway 2; Confessions of a Trickbaby. Not to be confused with the movie "Freeway" with Reese Witherspoon (though it was billed as a sequel of sorts, it's pretty much universally hated whereas the Reese one is adored).
Oh, and I have seen Gone With the Wind probably 50 times, starting when I was a little kid. Even saw it in an old theater in Austin, Tx, at some sort of anniversary showing. My Grandmother got me started on that film and it just never stopped even though I sometimes cringe watching it now, I still have it pretty much 100% memorized line for line.
Also Blue Velvet because I was a Dennis Hopper fanatic from the time I was 17 or so.

Anything terrifying. Then I sleep with my light on and check under my bed for a week.Get me a damn beer.
-
@canadamom, I used to love Star Wars (I was 7 when the first one came out and blew everyone's mind) but I'm afraid George Lucas lost me at Jar-Jar Binks. It was all downhill from there.

@fatchickonabike - I am not sure wth he was thinking with Jar-Jar but mercifully he is minimized in the next 2 movies. I don't understand why he doesn't just CGI him OUT like he CGI'd IN so many other creatures.
-
Hmmmm I love Practical Magic, Joe Dirt, Son in Law.... Lots of the circa late 90s movies
-

@foulmouthedsailor, Yay, I have never met anyone else who watched the Clerks cartoon. Makes me want a Discreeto Burrito, LOL!! As a fellow military member, you know it's ALL about the dick and fart jokes.I like all Kevin Smith's stuff but I am a maniac for anything by Tim Burton. I love dark, creepy shit. There is a 2 day monthly window where I'm receptive to chick flicks. Hope Floats get me every time, OMG.I also really like disaster movies, like Dante's Peak, Volcano, stuff like that. End of the world stuff. -
Yeah, I'm a Firefly & Serenity fan too, I like SciFi. But if we're going on "guilty" pleasure movies it has to be The Prince and Me...it's dumb, it's sappy, it's romantic...and I'm NOT a chick flick movie gal either. And kids movies, I love most disney movies..And of course, being Sicilian, The Godfather...I don't really have a genre that I like, though I'm not a big fan of slasher movies. I've never seen Halloween, the chuckie ones, nothing like that, more of a psychological thriller fan.Bite me, cupcake!
-
And My Fellow Americans is funny as shit...Bite me, cupcake!
-
I like big disaster flicks like Armageddon, Independence Day, Day After Tomorrow, etc.
80s movies like Footloose, Top Gun, Dirty Dancing. I love getting caught up in the memories from growing up in the 80s.
My all-time favorite movie doesn't fit into either of the above, though: Reese Witherspoon's first movie, The Man in The Moon. It's such a sweet, tragic movie, and I can't help but sit and watch whenever it comes on. And, of course, cry...
-
Natural disaster movies - The Day After Tomorrow, Volcano, and the old disaster movies like Towering Inferno and original Poseidon Adventure.
I also watch 8 Mile every time it's on VH1.
-
@PallasAthene I like the Firefly series and Serenity movie because it was a mix of Scifi and old school western movies, plus all the actors had a good chemistry and I think it was well written.
I also have two book cases full of Scifi and fantasy Scifi books, moving them was a bitch!
@French_mom I'm just sad it was cancelled after one season, and Farscape was awesome as well.
@Bombkitty I'll still laugh at dick and fart jokes when I'm 100 years old. I didn't know about them till my buddy showed them to me, instant loveYou show the lights that stop me turn to stone, You shine it when I'm alone. And so I tell myself that I'll be strong
And dreaming when they're gone. -
@doesmyasslookbig: ooooo, you hit on my all time favorite movie, Top Gun, and NOT because Tom Cruise looks hot in a flight suit, thought that certainly didn't hurt. I'm all about the flying the jets!I was on a date when I saw it the first time, my date was completely ignored...Bite me, cupcake!
-
@FoulMouthedSailor yeah i was sooo pissed at FoX for that one. They do that a lot.It is for me to know and you to dot dot dot.

Now, that's a version I'd pay good money for!

Romantic comedies are my weak spot. I've watched Love Actually seriously over 1000 times.
You've Got Mail, The Holiday, The Proposal, Definitely,Maybe, The Love Letter, I.Q....sucker for all of them. LOL
And Disney/kid movies. Love those, too.I'm as sexy as a burp mid-kiss. Watch out!
