I'm due Sept. 18 with yet another girl. My husband and I have finally settled on a first name Raynne (or Rayne,Raine,Rain,Raiyn) The problem is we both really like Raynne but neither one of us can come up with a middle name that flows. I don't want something stupid or cutesy like Cloud,Bow or Storm. Raynne is usually used as a middle name so using it as a first name is hard. Our last name is Betters. And the other thing is my husband doesn't care how it's spelled and told me that's up to me so I'm wondering what spelling you would use?
-
Personally - I like Raine but I could be biased because that's my friend's daughter's name. Honestly "raynne" looks awkward to me...I don't know if it's the extra n or what but it just doesn't look right to me. I'm not a huge fan of creative spelling of names though...it probably won't bother you if you don't mind them.
Middle name I'd do 3 or 4 syllables - like oh I don't know... Amanda. Haha actually I don't like that with the other names but according to whoever makes this stuff up a perfect name will use a different number of syllables for the first, middle and last name. -
My nephew's name is Rane his middle name is Ezera, which is after some guy in sports. It's is difficult to find a middle name that flows with Rane. When I was picking out names I actually imagined myself yelling them to see if it sounded good :) I also agree with @demanda on the spelling. But it's your babies name.not my chair, not my problem

When I read Raynne with the extra N, I read Ray-anne.
Marie is a good middle name. But its used a lot (its my dd's mid name too) and maybe you are looking for something more unique...? -
a friend of my daughter is named Malia. it is prounonces in french tho.. dunno how you guys would say it in englishIt is for me to know and you to dot dot dot.

Exactly. I read Rayanne as well. For a middle name ummmm maybe Elizabeth, Marie would work too. -
@French_mom, I would pronounce Malia as Ma-leah. Is that right?
-
yeah thanks :) @MassHysteria i could not find in my not awake yet brain how to make it sound in english. It is for me to know and you to dot dot dot.

I thought it was supposed to be rayenne which I actually like. Some middle names I considered were kelise, kalia or kaliyah, kira keira or kyra, kiara. If its 2 syllables u want the accent to be on the last syllable though. Raine Kelise? Raine Kiara. Rayne Kaliyah~slim shady~
-
Rayne Caroline or Rayne Caitlin...I think both sound good. I do agree with the above posters about the extra N. I read is Ray-anne as well.
-
I read it as Ray-anne as well. I like the spelling of Rayne or Raine. I've been sitting here for several minutes trying to come up with a good middle name that will flow with Rayne. I've got nothing. But I do like the suggestions of Rayne Ann and Rayne Marie.

Raine Lea (pronounced lay-a - and yes from Star Wars)Raine LeighRaine ElizabethRaine MichelleRaine McKenzieI like this spelling of Raine because I think it will be easier for her in school with teachers and things. I have a cousin Jayne and we say Jay - nee not Jane so I think she might get Ray - nee, not Raine.
-
I think Raine also, for spelling. I agree that Raynne is awkward.
I think a 3 or 4 syllable middle name works well.
Raine Elizabeth
Raine Catherine
Raine Evelyn
Raine Cherise (2 syllable but it's my niece's middle name)
Raine Abigail

Rayne Elizabeth Betters ... That's the first one that popped in my head.I love purple; I love cats. Imagine if cats were purple ...
-
I like the spelling 'Raine' because the 'i' makes it feminine.Raine Rose Betters?Raine EliseRaine AliyahRaine Niamh (Neev)I think the middle name has to be quite soft to follow the 'n' sound at the end of the first name."Be who you are and say what you feel. Because those who matter don't mind and those who mind don't matter." - Dr. Seuss
-
Rayne Isabella
Rayne Madison
Rayne Kendra
Rayne Celeste
-
I think Rayne/Rain is very pretty. Rayne makes it seem more trendy or modern, while Rain feels more soft and feminine (but that's just IMHO!) I don't care as much for the extra "N" spelling b/c I agree its a tad awkward and I think others (not to mention the child) might have trouble spelling it right.
This might sound odd but since the first name is kinda unique, what about a more traditional "first name" sort of name for the middle? Like Rayne Elizabeth or Rayne Allison, something like that? Honestly the middle name's flow is going to depend on how you choose to spell the first name...At least, I see Rain going with different middle names than Rayne...
-
I like Rayne Elizabeth
I also think Rayne Olivia is pretty! I like that spelling bc my youngest's middle name is Skye, so I might be biases a little :)If life gives you lemons, squirt lemon juice in life's eye! -
I like Raine Elizabeth or Raine Isabella :)
-
Oooo, I was about to say Rayne Isabella @unforgiven, I really like it :)
Also Rayne Kalisha, Rayne Alyssa, Rayne Eliana (LOVE Eliana!)
Hmm... writing this, I noticed all of my suggestions end in A. I think (kinda like what @Irishlass said) because Rayne has a stop sound at the end of it, it needs a name that balances it out a bit.
I initially went with Raine, but switched to Rayne when I pictured scrawling it all over a notebook like I used to at school (Rayne loves Johnny etc) The Y helps it flow.

I like Raine Elizabeth or Raine McKenzieStay away from my chocolate and nobody gets hurt!
I think I like who I am becoming... -
Ooo I like Kianna too @shadylane and a few of your other K names. I kept coming up with A names lolMore people would learn from their mistakes if they weren't so busy denying them

I like Raine Elizabeth! Trendy names and weird spellings make me cringe a little. I try to keep in mind that people will always be trying to read and pronounce her name, and I'd think that every single person having to ask would get annoying. And her initials wouldn't spell anything, also not a fan of that fad either. (And I swear I'm not grouchy this morning, even though this post kinda sounds like I am.)

My niece is Rain Renee

Both of these are thing I kept in mind when I named my kiddos. I went through life having to correct the spelling and pronunciation of my last name. So I wanted to be sure that my babies wouldn't have the same problem. BTW, I love Raine Celeste @NorthernMommy!

Funky spelling means they will forever have their name mispronounced or misspelled. My DD is Jaci Lee, pronounced Jaycee, rhymes with Traci. My mother in law cannot pronounce it and DD is 8. She calls her J.C. as in two syllables. We even tell her "ma, say Traci, now say Jaci" and she can't get it. She frequently is called Jackie and its often spelled wrong. Just be prepared! Raine is a lovely name!

I'm new here, hope no one minds me weighing in! I come from a line of different names. My siblings are Roberta Joelle (she goes by Joelle), Jonica Elaine and my name is Janessa Olise. My middle name is a combo of my grandma's middle names. Which were Olive and Louise. My nieces name is Jalaine. Which is a combo of my middle sisters middle name and my first. My daughters are Brenna Joelle and Jonica Julyn. Julyn being another combo name of my moms middle name June and my BF's middle name Lynn. I think Rayne is beautiful! I'm with the others about family names...I like that its a special tie to the person the are named after :-)
