Okay I need to get a life. Y'all think I am kidding but this is what goes through my head. I have some blue Manic Panic. I also have an ugly ass couch that has tan cotton removable covers. I am planning to get rid of this couch when I have money for something better off Craigslist but for now I am stuck with it. It's a light tan, sectional thing with rattan frames, it's actually several chairs with no arms that sit side by side.
So, knowing how Manic Panic stains the crap out of everything, and having no money, and wishing for more blue in the room (my rug is peach with blue flowers)... I thought "Hey! Maybe!?" Maybe I could make a "dye bath" of sorts in the tub by diluting some of the blue hair color. I just don't wanna stain my tub.
I can see how it wouldn't work on something you wash often but if I did this and then air dried the cushions then put them back on, I wonder if it would work? It should dry fast since it's 10000 degrees out.
I guess there's not a lot to lose here, because when I get something new I will put this current stuff out by the dumpster anyway.
Wow, I will do anything to avoid doing the crap I SHOULD be doing. ;)

I wouldn't worry about the tub being dyed. My bff uses a red manic panic and she has white tub and sink. She uses bleach to wash it out afterward. I say go for it. If not you can go to the wal mart craft section and pick up some rit dye for a few bucks ($5 maybe?) that is specifically made for fabrics. Thing with mp is that it's semi-permanent, liquid spills may cause the color to wash out after a while. Plus you couldn't use fabric cleaners. Just a suggestion!

Just looked up rit dye on amazon and it's anywhere between $2 and $10. A lot of it is prime eligible (free shipping love my amazon prime!) And it comes in dozens of colors!

Thanks! yeah I had a nightmare Manic panic spill once. Purple... all over my bathroom wooden cabinets and even Kilz wouldn't cover it! But that was wood.
But this couch will be gone in a couple months anyway so what the heck, right?

I didn't even think about it staining the clothes!

Yeah I thought about that too. Maybe I will just do one first and see. I actually have extra cushions because I threw away part of this set already, the frame broke, but I kept the cushions. So I will seee if I can just dye one first to make sure it isn't going to wear off on anyone.

I would be afraid that it would stain the clothing of whomever sits on it. No point in having a pretty blue couch that ruins all your clothes...
I'd just go buy some of the dye that is meant for fabric. Isn't that stuff cheaper than hair dye anyway?
Yeah, it is. It's just that I already have blue hair dye that no one is going to use anytime soon and I was bored. :)
