Need ideas for a "GIRLY GIRL" home party for a 10 year old.

Hello brilliant Scary Mommies!  I need help with some ideas for my daughters b-day party.

We were going to originally go to “Girly Girl” which was a place in the mall where the girls get to do makeup and dress up and do their nails and karaoke but the damn place had the nerve to close.

My daughter wants to have a Girly Girl home party which is a cute idea so I’m looking for ideas!  I can get cheap makeup at the dollar store and some cheat hair stuff – but she doesn’t have any dress up stuff anymore (she outgrew it all).  We DO have a karaoke machine so we will set that up but does anyone have any other cool ideas that we could use?

She’s going to be 10 so this is a big deal!  All she wants for presents is cash or Justice gift cards so she can go on a shopping spree after her b-day. =)

Set up a mani/pedi station? Nail polish, nail decals, glitter. That's all stuff that you can come by fairly cheap as well. I'd skp the nail trimmings and such and just buy a bulk pack of disposable files.

You can serve fancy little mocktails & appetizers/finger foods while they get all dolled up.

If you want to send them home with something, you could print out a picture from your home computer of them all together after their beauty treatments. (Glossy photo paper is cheap.) You could do that with a little bag that has finger nail polish & nail decals or something along those lines.

If they want to play dress up, but you lack the dress up clothes. Ask everyone to bring a dressy outfit on the invitation. They can all dress up after their beauty day and have a fashion show! You could even make a faux runway. You could use red butcher paper even. Doesn't have to be expensive to be awesome!! :) I LOVE planning parties :)

Let them do dress up from your closet... :D Always fun.. or ask aunts/gramma/friends to bring dresses etc..

Then do a mini fashion shoot with a digital camera :) After the hair and make-up first!

We have done a "Glamour Shots" Sleepover for Girl Scouts twice... both were BIG hits and everyone had a blast!!

What about goodwill/thrift store for some dress up clothes? Foot massages and smelly lotions? What about getting some beads at a craft store so they could make bracelets and necklaces to take home? I love the photo idea too. If you can't print even to email to their moms.

We did a tea party for my daughter.  I have an aunt who is a red-hatter and she brought her tea services....scones, the whole nine yards. (We used juice for the tea)

You could do little peanut butter and jelly sandwiches (make sure no one has a peanut allergy), remove the crust and cut them in 4's.

They could have little dollar store tiaras.  They brought their American girl doll's and we took pics.  We had them come dressed up and because my daughter's birthday is December 19 (bad planning on my part LOL), we used my polaroid camera and made ornaments with them and their dolls for the tree.

It was a lot of fun - they had a blast.

Check out Semi-Homemade with Sandra Lee. I fucking hate her, but she had a great idea for a tea party for girly girls, and it was all super easy. That's my two cents. I hate planning birthday parties. They look great in my head, but somehow just don't translate to real life...

Yep. We do/did this too. Our overpriced and outrageous "Girly Girl" store is called Libby Lou, and EVERYONE wants a Libby Lou party. Unfortunately, it's close to $50 a head.
So, not no, but hell no.

We can get all this at the dollar store:
solid, bright color nail polish, to cover with bright glitter polish finishes.
Stickers and rhinstones for added glitz on nails.
cheap, braided, or brightly colored hair extension pieces <---LOVE THIS
    makeup
glitter spray (or you can use loose glitter, and secure it with hairspray)

We doll the girls all up, and then in the corner of the room, I set up a photo booth, and take our own "Glamour Shots"

eta: I hardly ever have to buy anything anymore LOL I have SUCH a huge stockpile of nail polish and makeup!

You gals have been a huge help!  I’ve given my daughter your ideas and she is SOOOOO excited!  I think her favorite idea was the fashion runway.  I have my husband looking for a piece of wood that we can cover with red wrapping paper.  We are going to do the pedi-mani with mocktails and a makeup station and take glamor shots before the girls walk the run-way.

Thank you guys so much for your help!
