my husband has a horrible habbit of picking at his nails, it gets to the point of where he makes himself bleed, and he scratches me with the nail frag. Left behind. So I told him, if he wants, ill manicure them for him.I get mine done professionally, I suggested it to him but his feet are way too tickelish. So far he's doing better with the picking, hell let me trim them and whatever else he needs. Luckily he doesn't have gross feet. I don't use any kind of polish on him. But I was thinking of getting a clear gel over coat for his toes, so they stay strong and maybe recover from the many years of abuse. Idk about his fingers, is it noticable when your wearing clear polish? I have "fake nails" so I don't use paints or anything else. Would this be a sufficient way to help his nails grow in healthy?

And yes, clear polish leaves a glossy shine...so I'mma thinking he may not care for that overmuch LOL

You can check in the pharmacy section in the foot care aisle, and see if there isn't some healthy nail stuff that doesn't leave a shine.

My DH can't reach his toes, so I have to clip them for him, otherwise they will grow into talons. I hate it, ewww! Toenails are icky!

They are so gross! @pallas my daughter has some pretty funky toes too. I clip reg but it never seems to help and she won't sit still long enough for me to file them

I go with DW and DD for a pedi about every other month or so.  The people at the salon do a good job filing the callouses and while I clip my toenails regularly, I like for someone else to file them and take care of some of the cuticles.  I, too, have ticklish feet.  That's why I don't go as often as DW and DD.

If your DH or SO has any misgivings about going to a salon, have him watch "The Blue Collar Comedy Tour."  The four guys get the full treatment at a spa.  I can't remember which volume, but Larry the Cable Guy is especially funny at the spa.

Lol ill have to have him check it out. He's mostly worried about some guy (the person who does my nails is a guy) touching his feet and it being weird. I told him its their "job" and I'm sure they've seen much grosser feet(my mil ha!). And that they don't care usually, business is business.

I've always had a woman do it; just the way it's turned out.  At the salon my family goes to, the male co-owner focuses on manicures.  If a guy is OK going to a male doc, he shouldn't have a problem with a guy working on his feet and hands.

@unforgiven right! My husband works for ups and he's on his feet 12+ hours a day. I'm surprised they aren't worse than what they are. And ill see if I can't work him into it. Maybe he needs a little encouragement

Maybe if we went together? They're not ugly feet either, and he keeps his nails clipped.. they're just so worn and rough. :(
