My DH and I have filed for bankrupcy before. However, I seem to be the only that learned how to handle money responsibly since then. DH bought $200 of legos today that are never going to leave the box (collector's sets).

I feel for you. Dh (not dear) and I also filed for bankruptcy and he still buys stupid shit that he doesnt need all the time. He never has any $ for bills, food, etc but he's got a big screen HD t.v. His priorities are fucked!

:O It's time to open that box and scatter them all over the floor while he's asleep and make sure he's the first to get up in morning, or better yet wake his ass at 3 am for a glass of water.

Who would spend $200 on those tiny pieces of hell??? And if I spend that much $$ on something, it better do something besides collect dust. So sorry OC. Can you take them back?

I'm with @chaosmom! Take those fuckers back if you can!! No way in hell would I allow that shit to go on. A few bucks on Legos for a kid is one thing, but $200 on toys that will never leave the box?!?!?!?! Hell NO!

eBay is a great place for collectibles.....

Also, they make an awesome security system.....spread them over the floor and no one wll be able to cross the floor without stepping on them....

Lego's are evil! Dh was not making a good choice by buying those right now. I'm totally with the other scaries here return them or open them up and make sure he's the one who steps on them. Bet he learns his lesson if he steps on a few.

My son wants that set ssssooooo bad! He tries to save up money for it, but usually he'll get to about $80 then decide he wants an $80 LEGO set, so we go back to the beginning again.
If I'm not supposed to do it, how come I can?

So... I'll be the voice of dissent regarding Lego's in general.. I LOVE THEM!! They are fun, educational, great for dexterity, hand eye coordination... etc etc etc... fantastic toy...

HOWEVER I do agree spending any $$ on toys when there are family financial needs to be met is irresponsible and ridiculous.

For @etheriel ... http://nz.ioffer.com/i/lego-star-wars-death-star-(1o188)-deathstar-brand-new-517766282 ... This looks legit! My DS8 wants it and I am sooooo tempted!

They are normally $1000 here, but found a site with it on sale for $660 ... then found this! Unreal ...

@AloneOverseas That is an AWESOME deal! I might have to convince my fiance to snatch that up and hold it for my son for Christmas or something.

Yes, Legos can suck.  I am sooo glad DS has three sets of grandparents who love out doing each other.  I have never had to buy more than the cheap sets.  The big (extremely expensive) sets are always purchased by grandparents.  (These are the same people that had a rule about only one present at birthday and one at christmas when I was a kid).
    Imperfect and proud of it.

I feel like any sort of collectible toys are kindof bullshit! I dont get it! The purpose of a TOY is to PLAY! 200bucks for toys that wont even leave the box?? That is obscene!

@irishlass:  so right!  As an adult, I collect dolls, Madame Alexander to be specific, and Barbie.  Those dolls are not played with, but the ones my mother gave me as a child?  One would be worth thousands now, but I played with her and enjoyed her, she never just sat in her box.

If an adult can afford collectible toys, great, but if you're not paying your bills, you damn sure shouldn't be spending $$ on stuff that's just going to sit in the box and collect dust!!
