I am reviewing the Bedroom Chemist
Starter Kit. The idea behind this product is a good one. Couples who
are looking to spice up their sex lives or break out of their bedroom
routines can subscribe to Bedroom Chemist, and they send you a series
of kits filled with products designed to help you do just that!

I received my kit via the mail. It was
packaged very discreetly in a plain white box. The addressee was
listed as “B. Chemist”, and on the customs slip the contents were
described as “bathroom supplies”. Inside the plain packaging, it
is wrapped up like a lovely little present, in a cute box with
ribbons and tissue paper. The first thing you see is a booklet which
describes each product included, and tells you how they can be used
to good effect.

The kit has three main products. One for
mood, one for foreplay, and one for passion. It also includes a few
little extras for added fun.

The first product for mood is
the Ono Pleasure Massage Candle. It is made of all natural waxes, and
the scent is red mandarin and shea butter. The idea is, once you
light the candle, the melted wax can be used as a massage oil, which
you and your partner can use to get each other in the mood. The scent
is fantastic, it smells citrusey and piney. The wax does work well as
a massage oil as well. Who doesn't want a massage? It is somewhat
slow to melt, and it does tend to melt a hole in the middle, so it is
a good idea to light the candle well before you plan on getting it
on. The container is metal, so sticking it in the microwave for some
quick melting action is not an option either. It does get quite hot,
so be careful about dripping it directly onto your partner's
sensitive areas, and be careful of your fingers. I also found the
skin did not absorb it as well as it could have, and after a time it
dried to leave a slightly waxy residue. I did adore the scent and the
massage, but quite honestly, although this seems like a fun idea, I
would have preferred a bottle of massage oil or lotion plus a regular
scented candle in the same scent.

The second item for
foreplay is Flower Balm, which it says is formulated “for her
pleasure”, although my partner enjoyed this one as well. This is a
minty body balm which can be applied anywhere on the body for a
cooling/heating/tingling sensation. It is a nice thick balm which
stays where you put it, despite friction. It does however, taste
pretty terrible, so beware of that. It takes a very thorough washing
to remove it from the skin, I managed to get some from my finger to
my eye in the shower (yow!) so make sure you soap up well before you
touch your face, a rinse won't do the trick! Please note!! This
product is not latex compatible.

The final product is the
bcute curve. It is a 3” silicone vibrator, battery included. It is
multi-speed, it is controlled by twisting a small knob on the bottom.
The further you twist it, the faster it goes. Top speed is pretty
good for a little machine. It is waterproof, so easy to clean. The
silicone is very soft and smooth. The little curve at the end is a
nice touch as well, makes for some interesting positioning. It also comes with a little storage bag. The curve
is supposed to make for great g-spot stimulation according to the
booklet, but I find it is really lacking in girth to make it great
for anything internal. It is a nice little addition to play between
partners, but not something I would choose for going solo.

 

Finally,
there are a few little extras. A few little packets of lubricant,
which are pretty straight forward, and some scratch ticket games.
These are totally useless in my opinion. They are poor quality, and I
pretty much scratched right through the paper so I couldn't read what
was written. They have some little games on them, variations of dice
games basically.

All in all, this kit is not something I
would spend money on, even though I did like some of the individual
items. It may be a very good place to start for vanilla couples who
would like to spice it up and have no idea where to start. For those
of us who are already a little more adventurous, you are not going to
be thrilled by anything you find in the kit. Perhaps the following
kits progress into things that are a bit more daring, but the website
only tells you what is in the starter kit. You are expected to
subscribe to buying six of these on the basis of that alone. Based on
the starter, I would not subscribe. The same $60 that each kit costs
could go much further in my local adult store.
