#14818...tubes tied but still have period that you dont want
-
I had an ablasion done...the Novasure procedure. Best. Decision. Ever. Havn't had a period since October of last year. Never been happier.
-
Wow...you are so lucky! I just had a regular ole' tube tying and my periods are HORRIBLE!! I used to only have a 3 day period with nothing heavy and now it's 7 freaking days and I have to put my panties and pad on before I can get out of the shower just to keep from getting the stuff on the floor!

Tying of your tubes will not affect your period. your uterus still gets its lining because the gland that secretes the hormones is in your brain. your ovaries just add to the hormones and secrete eggs. Ask your gyn about the ablasion!!! I was scared and suffered heavy periods for two years (it is normal for women in early 30's to 40's to get heavier periods as they get closer to menipause) you do not have to go thru it! I used to get my period every other month and now, it's crazy (before ablasion) after: I am still waiting for a period... What they didn't tell me: I have clear discharge from procedure still 2 weeks later. A friend said hers was for almost a month, nothing a pantiliner won't take care of, and it doesn't smell bad (like a period can) my "period" was not even spotting (at least when it should have been). 55% see lessening of periods significantly, 25% see very light periods, 13% see no periods according to my gyn, who did the procedure (Novasure) in 10 minutes as a day surgery. severe cramping when i got home, slept until next morning, felt pretty good. I don't do well with anesthetic, so you might even have it better! Was exercising Monday had procedure Friday morning.
ASK, ASK, ASK!! -
Yes! the worst part for me was the anesthesia...My "discharge" went away after about 3 weeks...I had two different nurses tell me before the procedure that it was the best decision they ever made...and I totally agree! I wsa 36 when I had it done...finished having kids...but my periods were HORRIBLE! No more period at ALL

I agree with the above posters about the ablation!! My periods were horribly heavy and painful. After the ablation, I didn't have a period for 6 months. Now, they are much more tolerable. The ablation is so worth it!

What exactly is ablation procedure?
-
Its where your GYN goes in and uses a tool that "sonically" takes out the lining of your uterus. No more periods after! There are 2 prerequisites: you have to already have tubes tied, or another "permanent" solution to not getting pregnant (tubes tied) and 2. they have to do a uterine biopsy to make sure you dont have cancer. Look up the Novasure Procedure.
