My friend Deana had a baby that was a complete surprise. She woke up in pain and ended up having a baby that day. She didn't know that she was pregnant until she got to the hospital.

so scary!!! Mom and Baby doing ok?“There are two basic motivating forces: fear and love. When we are afraid, we pull back from life. When we are in love, we open to all that life has to offer with passion, excitement, and acceptance. We need to learn to love ourselves first, in all our glory and our imperfections. If we cannot love ourselves, we cannot fully open to our ability to love others or our potential to create. Evolution and all hopes for a better world rest in the fearlessness and open-hearted vision of people who embrace life.”

@sunnymomma Yes baby Danielle was 4 lbs 2 oz a d 16 1/2 inches long. Born on August 16th. Older siblings are a 14 year old sister and 13 year old twins, one boy an one girl.

That's crazy! I've watched those shows and all I can think is "bullshit". How can you not know right up until birth??? how do you not feel the baby moving around inside your body or not notice your period hasn't shown up in 9 months???
I'm not saying your friend is lying but it just doesn't make sense to me. -
I know. I call my bff one day and say hey...havent heard from you on like 2u days where the fuck have you been? Her-um yeah i had a baby. I thought i had to poop and a baby came out. WTF
-
Holy shit! Crazy! But congrats to her. Anytime i have gas bubbles I expect to be on I Didn't Know I Was Pregnant. Show makes me paranoid.Get me a damn beer.

My MIL swears she didn't know she was pregnant with my oldest SIL until 2 weeks before delivery. She was piercing somone's ears & passed out. Took her to the hospital, ran tests & dr came in & was like "you really need to be eating better & drinking plenty of water. That baby is depending on you for nourishment." She passed out again lol. She didn't know about the other ones until about 6 months. Her period had never been regular so missing a few was no big deal. She gained a few pounds but not much at all & could still wear the same clothes. I just don't get it! She was a petite little thing.
-
Yeah it seems odd. I don't know if I'd believe it if I didn't know her myself.

There was a woman at my church who found out she was pregnant 72 hours before the baby was born full term. She's a little heavier and it was her first, but crazy!
I do have a very close friend who found at almost five months that she was pregnant with twins. She had been on the pill for years and had her period every month for those five months. Fortunately they were born healthy at 37 weeks. Major BC fail: not supposed to ovulate on the pill and she ovulated with not only one egg but two since they were fraternal twins!

I still dont get how you could just NOT know....unless its denial or something. A sort of "maybe if i ignore it itll go away" sort of thing. Wow. Best wishes to mom and baby though, glad to hear they are doing well.I shall futterwacken...vigorously*

we had a neighbor that had been told she couldn't get pregnant, so she and her hubs adopted. She started feeling weird so she went to the doctor, expecting to be told she needed a hysterectomy, he said "My God you must be at least 6 months pregnant," She went into labor a few days later and had a beautiful baby girl. It's not common, but it does happen. I'm of the same thought as how could you not know something is wrong!Hope mom and baby are doing well! Congrats.Bite me, cupcake!

It would definitely he a denial thing for me.. I'm like that with everything. Congratulations to your friend!Nothing left to do but smile, smile, smile.. -Grateful Dead<3
-
Wow congratulations to your friend!
I can't figure out how you wouldn't know until term. Crazy!
I can understand not knowing for a while because some people do get periods while pregnant and if they have slow or no weight gain. I did that myself. I 5 months pregnant with DS before noticing. The kicks gave it away. But he was my second, I don't really get pregnancy symtoms and I was still mostly exclusively breastfeeding which made the weight gain really slow and I had spotting periods.
-
I don't know all her details. I just found out yesterday.

Ok well send her congratulations from us !!!" Wibbly wobbly timey wimey ......." The Doctor

it can happen. If a woman has had a c-section she can lose feeling in her stomach. I know that I have since the birth of my son almost 2 years ago. And some babies dont move that much or only move at night. And if a woman has severe intestinal issues she might mistake fetal movement for gas and cramps associated with those issues. Thats what happened to my sister 6 years ago.She gained no weight, always had irregular periods, and never felt the baby move. one day she started having severe stomach pains and went to the hospital thinking it was intestinal problems again and a few hours later she had her daughter.
-
Congrat's to your friend. Glad baby and mommy are doing good.Being of a highly curious nature I would love to have details as far as how she felt the whole 9 months or so. I mean, she didn't feel the baby moving or anything? Was lucky enough to not get sick? And since I am a drinker and smoker I'm gonna ask, is she a drinker and smoker? How about lifting heavy things or eating all those taboo foods, stuff you're not supposed to do while preggo.I know, tons and tons of questions but there is a lot we are not supposed to do while preggo and these women that go through day to day life without knowing they are pregnant do these things and still manage to have healthy, full term babies so it does intensify my curiosity."I have a theory that placenta is brain matter I push out, so with each child I get dumber and dumber." ~ Unknown

I dont get how someone could be so totally out of touch with their body! Unless of course you were morbidly obese and had loads of health problems and your body was kindof all over the place to begin with. But then I wonder how on earth they could carry a pregnancy. I dont understaaaand! And yes, I have watched the show with the crappy reenactments!"Be who you are and say what you feel. Because those who matter don't mind and those who mind don't matter." - Dr. Seuss
-
Oh, but congratulations to her! I often think it would be cool to wake up and have a baby without dealing with the pregnancy!"Be who you are and say what you feel. Because those who matter don't mind and those who mind don't matter." - Dr. Seuss

When I was with my dh I worried about that happening. I have phantom kicks all th time and my youngest is 4." Wibbly wobbly timey wimey ......." The Doctor

This would actually be a dream come true for me. Not gain weight, feel awesome. I am so miserable when I'm pregnant I'd love to just wake up one day and be like, oh I'm having a baby!
But yeah, this mystifieds me because my body goes whacko the moment of conception. My hormones are out of control. -
@momofdbb - is that what those are called? Phantom kicks. I get them ALL the time and they freak me the hell out. But I never knew what they were, and have always just chalked them up to gas or something, butit dosent feel like gas, its a very distinct "kick" sensation. However, i thought I was insane so Ive never told anyone. My youngest is 3.
@Rosie - mine too! I knew the almost the minute I was pregnant, because my body and emotions went haywire.
Ii hated being pregnant, so theoretically that would be pretty kick ass....however you have the elements of possible alcohol/drug/nicotine use and lack of prenatal care thrown in. I think id rather have the aches and pains...I shall futterwacken...vigorously* -
That is crazy! I get huge, I mean. HUGE when I'm pregnant! I know pretty quickly. I do get phantom kicks sometimes that freak me out, thank God I know my birth control is in right and functioning! Congrats to your friend and I hope that everything will be okay for them!

This was taken 2 days before I had Ronan. He was 8lbs13oz and 22 1/2in long. I couldn't not know I was pregnant because I carry out. -
I can't believe that there are women out there that don't notice! I seriously can't imagine. You would have to be pretty big to begin with...
-
I do believe that there are women out there that don't gain enough weight to notice. Either they are really skinny or they are heavy already. I have a heavier friend who only gained 10 pounds with each pregnancy.
When I was pregnant with our second and less than a week from delivering, DH mentioned that he had met one of our new neighbors and said she was also pregnant. I asked how far along and he said, maybe 4-5 months?
Yeah, she gave birth to a full term baby three days after our DD was born. That made me feel real good about myself.
-
I have a friend who found out at the end of Aug she was preg. a week later learned it was twins. a week later gave birth. They are almost 5yrs old now :DB
-
I just don't get how their stomaches don't push out... Regardless of minimal weight gain. I'm not saying it doesn't happen, it just blows my mind that they don't notice their body changing.

I think a lot of these women carry towards their back so it might just look like they put on a little of winter weight in front. Usually though I think these women think they are having back problems. -
My stomach got so hard, though.. it just blows my mind!Get me a damn beer.
-
Yeah I held my babies in super small... When I layed down 2 weeks before I had my DD I didn't even looked pregnant. But there is no way in hell that I wouldn't have noticed my belly expanding lol
-
Someone I went to highschool with had this happen (not while she was in highschool). She went to the hospital complaining of pain, and had the baby in the hospital bAthroom. She was skinny, always had irregular periods, it just never occurred to her she was pregnant. She had a healthy baby, but she herself was in rough shape. I do suppose that denial has something to do with it, but if you're under the impression that you can't get pregnant, I would imagine pregnancy wouldn't be the logical answer to nausea, etc.
-
Although it's never happened to me, I do think that it is possible for some women to really "not" know they're pregnant. And this is just my opinion. But with both of my children, I never missed a period. I never had morning sickness, (I'm a 14/16 normally) I didn't gain any weight, or have much of a baby bump. I never ever in either pregnancy, ever, really felt pregnant. Which was a curse because I was always worried that my baby was dead, or that the pregnancy was doomed. And because I have an unusually high cervix/uterus I never felt the babies move much either. The very few times, I'd actually felt them move, it really did feel like "gas". The only reason I knew was because I had positive blood tests. And of course the obligatory ultrasounds. I sometimes wish I could've had at least some symptoms, so I could've felt like any other normal pregnant woman. But I guess, we don't always get what we want.I hope that your friend and baby are both healthy and doing well. What a wonderful surprise!! Sending positive and happy vibes their way!

i didn't know i was pregnant with DS2 until i was almost half way! i actually lost weight at first and had no other symptoms. also have an irregular period, so i didn't think anything was amiss! i made the doctor run the test again because i didn't believe her!
