For all those with baby girls, when did you pierce their ears.

I did dd's at 18 months.  I wasn't sure I was going to do it, but now I wish I'd done much earlier, like maybe around 2-3 months when she would have been much more still.  I would have had I known how easier and how much more quietly it's done now.  When I worked retail and pierced ears, it was this huge, LOUD, piercing gun.  Now its a little plastic thing that makes hardly any noise and they pierced them both at the same time.

I don't agree with piercing baby's ears. I am one for waiting until they are old enough to want them and can take care of themselves.

Oldest DD had hers at 9.  Youngest had hers done on 8th birthday.

DD was 3. She wanted them. Then she spent the weekend with grandmother and they got infected !!! I had to take them out and they grew back together. She wanted to get redone and we were going to, probably for her 8 th birthday. But that didn't happen. :(

Did miss thangs at 3 weeks at home with one of those preloaded dissposable guns. My female parental unit did it while I took a walk, when I got back she was sleeping.

I had to wait until I was 6, and I liked the whole excitement of it. I got them done on my birthday. Yeah, it kind of hurt, but what I remember the most is being so proud and happy. I felt like such a big girl. If I had a daughter, I'd probably wait also. It's a great memory.

Plus, I also learned about how to take care of them, which was a good lesson too. Not that I care what other people do, but just my preference.

3 months which is youngest allowed in texas. I'm of the opinion girls get their ears pierced boys get circumcised. (Yes I know I shall catch hell for that statement but I don't give a flip =) )

The doctors office pierces ears?? Where? I've never heard of a doctors office doing that!
Dd got them done on her 1st birthday, but at Claire, not the Dr's, lol.

I got mine pierced at age 5 by the family doctor (who also made house calls - that's how old I am). DD got hers pierced at the same age, also by a doctor. They put some numbing cream on her earlobes for a few minutes beforehand, used the gun, and mission accomplished. DD said she'd never been stapled before. She said it didn't hurt.

I'm waiting until she asks also. I had no clue about the doctor's office though, so when she does ask, I'll definitely be going that route if possible!!

I got DDs done at 8 months. It was quick she cried for about 30 seconds and then she was fine. They never got infected and she really never played with them or acknowledged that they were there.

We just got back from getting hers done. We just went to claires and the lady was super sweet.. She gave dd a lollipop to keep her occupied while she put the dots on her ears, I took it from her when she was getting them pierced.. She held her breath after the first one and was rather blue when I turned her around but then I gave her back the lollipop and she immediately stopped crying. We also had some sucrose in my purse drom when we were at the hosputal and I gave that to her when we were done (helps calm them and is a natural pain reliever for babies under a year) ... She is napping now and happy as ever.

See, I did dd's at Claire's and they had 2 people do it at the same time, she cried for about 10 seconds and was done.  There are some doc's offices who do it, my niece's doc does but our didn't.  You just have to ask.

I want to wait to get dd2 done. I've noticed that when they do them too young the ear lobe is still growing (they do ur whole life), but it looks kinda funny after they've grown up. Almost like the ring is up higher than normal. And I also don't want to have to maintenance them and its one more thing she can fuss with. To each their own.

I am letting dd6 decide when she wants them. I've asked her a couple of times if she wanted to get her ears pierced, but she tells me she will not give herself a ouchie on purpose. Lol

I waited with dd6 until she was 4. She asked for it so we took her to Claire's. She kept losing the earrings and now the holes are grown back together. I've had my ears pierced since I was 3 weeks old lol

Three months old to the day with both. It's definitely expected with Filipino baby girls. My mil could not wait! And all the aunties who came to see the girls as babies slipped me a $20 to get their ears pierced. I made a lot of money, lol! My dh still doesn't know that.

I'm the youngest of 5 girls... ALL of my older sisters had to wait until 16... I got mine at 12.

My girls I let them decide. Each chose their first piercing around 8yrs old and both got their 2nd a couple years later.

I didn't want to make that decision for them, but I don't judge those who do. :)

I'm not against piercing babies' ears and it does look pretty, but there are so few significant coming-of-age rituals that if I had a daughter I think I would wait until she was a preteen interested in getting pierced to have it done. There's nothing wrong with doing it as a baby so I'm not trying to dissuade you but it could be such a lovely bonding experience for an older girl.

DD was 4 months... she never messed with them, and they never got infected. Only thing now that she is 5 she is asking about dangle(sp) ones. I tell her no because I'm afraid they will get pulled out.

I remember getting mine pierced at age 4 in a jewelry store. The guy pierced the first one and I tried to run out of the store because I didn't want him to do the other one. Both my nieces got their ears pierced as babies and did fine. I wanted to do the same with my DDs but DH was totally against it. Now DD3 has been asking for earrings but psycho DH still thinks she's too young, so we'll see.

Got Ry's done at 9 weeks. She got shots the day before and was cranky so I figured I'd just do it then. I got mine done when I was 4, I never left them alone and they were always getting infected. She's had them for 4yrs and no problem. If I ever have another girl, I'll do it super young again.

Mine were done when I was an infant. I wanted to let my daughter decide when and if she wanted her ears pierced. She was 7 when she decided for herself.

My oldest DD5 just got her's done last month.  I had issues with mine for years due to sensitivity/allergies, so I wanted to wait until she was old enough to help take care of them.  She asked, so we did it.  My younger DD4 still hasn't decided if she wants her's done yet, so we will wait.

We made it a very special day for her, and she loved every second of it!

I took my 3 yo when she was 4 months old. I'll probably take my youngest around the same time. She's 3 months now. We never had any issues with ODD's ears. She still doesn't realize she has earrings. She's never even touched them.

My oldest was 2 and half months, my 2nd daughter was 6 months and youngest was 5 months.  The only issue I'm having is the baby takes hers out now that shes a little older (10months)

This is funny, DD 3 doesn't have her ears pierced, and she recently noticed the holes in my ears (I don't wear earrings much). She got very upset, and wanted my ears fixed. She's not interested in getting hers done.
