Oh I'm tots doing Black Friday.  I've already requested that day off from work.  Me and my Mom LOVE it.  We don't even buy all the much (even tho much is a relative term).  We just love the excitement and being together in the wee hours of the morning.

NO! Our best friend is getting married that Saturday. We'll probably be en route to NJ that Friday.

Now, I love her with all my heart, but our best friend's fiancée still plans to go shopping at the buttcrack of dawn Black Friday. The fucking day before her wedding! LOL she cracks me up. Better her than me. I don't have the patience. Cyber Monday is more my speed.

I do it, but I am not crazy about it. I am not going to sit in line in the middle of the night for something. We usually provided Christmas for a family in need in my hometown. We do necessities mostly (new clothes, shoes, food). We are always able to give more if we shop on Black Friday. And my office closes on that day so it is convenient.
  • Are the prices really worth all the hassle? My mom did it for years and always said how bad it can get lol

If I leave the confines of home to shop Black Friday, it's only one or two stores and I go by myself with a mission. I am not going with kids. I am not browsing. I'm much more likely to shop online Black Friday deals and Cyber Monday. Amazon.com can have some really great deals either in "gold box" or "lightening deals". I think Black Friday to Cyber Monday has the best electronics, toys and entertainment deals of the season.

I think the important thing is, to know what you want and buy only that, or something that is close enough to what you want that it will satisfy you. If you have wish lists to fulfill, make sure you have all of your details straight before you start shopping. (Does your BIL want just any old format of The Avengers, or does he specifically want the Blu-Ray + DVD + Digital Copy?)

This year, I'll be checking out deals for digital storage.

I go every year and prep for weeks beforehand. I check out all the ads online and read reviews of certain products. Then I decide which stores to hit first. Last year Target opened at 12:30 and I was there. Some years walmart has the better deals. I'm usually home and back in bed by 5am. I know, I'm one of the crazy ones!!

Yeaaaah, we go, Doesn't matter where we spend thanksgiving... by 8pmish we are at my mothers house getting DS ready for bed in my sisters room. We leave him home with my 20 and 15y.o. brothers. Mom, youngest sister and I scout through ALLL the ads. since DH runs a newspaper dock he gets the ads out of EVERY paper in the area lol.

My moms house is best because she's close to CT, MA laws keep most of the stores from doing midnight and 1am sales. So we hit CT first without DH, then he meets us around am after work and we hit MA stores.. then at about 8am DH and I gather the wee beastie, head home, DH goes to bed and I stay up as long as I can before tossing a movie in and snoozing on the couch. My mother and sister keep going until the afternoon, hitting malls and such farther away, because they're insane.

I am! I don't really go because of the great deals but trust me, I'll find plenty to buy lol. I just get excited that the stores are open early :-) I get up at 4am every day to hit the gym and get shit done around the house so it is AWESOME to be able to get up and go shopping. The rest of the year I'm just waiting for the rest of the world to wake up and open!

Last year was the first year I have ever done Black Friday and ended up doing most of my Christmas shopping then. Some of the prices were worth it some werent but it all adds up. I did mine online cuz there's no way in hell I was going anywhere near a fucking store. Plus I could shop multiple stores in a matter of minutes or compare prices. This year I will be sitting on my computer at midnight waiting on shit to go on sale once again! Hell I'll probably have everything in my shopping cart already (if they let me) just waiting on price to change. Then once again I'll be kicking myself come CyberMonday because I'll be broke! lol!

Same here. I mean, we don't have Black Friday in Canada - the closest thing we have is Boxing Day - but there is no way in hell I would do that. That shit scares me!

    No. Hell no.

I used to be drug to the Black Friday sales when I was a teenager. I hated that shit. Standing in line, freezing my tits off at 2 a.m. when I should have been in bed was bogus in my book. And truthfully, for what my step-mom would end up spending because she thought she was getting these amazing deals, she could have waited a week or two and done much better for herself. Then I worked in retail. That pretty much solidified my hatred for both retail and Black Friday. DH talked me into going last year. We went to Wal-Mart (pretty much the only thing here) and it took us an hour to get from one side of the store to another. We bought nothing. So to reiterate...

    No. Abso-fucking-lutely not.

Did it for the first time last year, can't wait to do it again this year!  Except, the crappy thing is, my daughter's birthday falls on that day this year. I will be super tired, but it will be oh so worth it!!

Last year was my last Black Friday...I did a little comparing and I really think Cyber Monday deals were overall better. Why waste my time getting up early after stuffing my face to NOT get the bestest deals ever?

Plus, I got food poisoning from Chick Fil A that day...People seem to think I avoid them for political reasons. Nuh uh, I avoid them cause they gave me the worst vomiting experience I ever had outside of pregnancy.

i did it right after i had ds 4 years ago. he was 3 weeks old and i left him w/ dh. my sister and i went to the big outlet complex near our house. i got 3 things lol. my baby sister goes to target and old navy and VS, but shes single and kidless so she buys just much for herself as for others.

i might hit toysrus, and i normally take my grandma oabout 1pm after the stores have settled down. she buys the great grandkids stuff then. i dont to 12 am lol im not doing that again!

we got the house!!!!! i have worked so hard for 5 years to get us in a spot to buy! isnt it cute?!?!?!?

I "did" black Friday last year for the first time.  I went to Wal-Mart at 9 PM on Thursday night.  It took me 4 hours to grab 2 toys and get out the door.  Totally not worth it.  I won't do it again.  Online ordering, it is for me!

My husband was in retail for years-- his first Black Friday out of retail he had no intention of leaving the house.  I went into labor with #6 and at 5 am we were doing the mad dash to the hospital as everyone was going shopping. Let's just say it was a bittersweet moment for him after he had gloated to all his former coworkers about sleeping until noon. It was, btw, my SECOND Black Friday baby (born 17 years apart- both on Nov. 26th) so evidently I wasn't meant to be a Black Friday shopper!

    THIS

I am a TOTAL online shopper as of 3 years ago. Black Friday can KISS MY ASS.
It'll be the same price online two days later anyway, and I don't have to fight 6000 people just to pass by an aisle...

In the past I have worked black Friday in retail...15 plus hour days. Working them I had no problem, it felt good to see our hard work and preparation paying off. Come to think of it I can remember working from 7 a.m. till after midnight getting ready for the madness.

Shopping on that day no way! I don't need anything that bad to save some money...I'll leave that to the super shoppers that get a rush out of things like that. In reality it's a shame that Christmas has turned into how much crap you can stuff under the tree. And the stores opening up earlier and staying open later to make a buck is beyond ridiculous. If that's your cup of tea enjoy. I'll be sticking with shopping online on the comfort of my couch...no lines, no crappy parking spot, no stressed shoppers to contend with and I can drink and shop at the same time!
