    Baking soda as scouring powder

Vinegar as febreze (once it dries it doesnt smell anymore and kills the worst odors)

Microwave a bowl of vinegar and water to clean the microwave

lemon juice to remove rust rings

to recover  a very distressed table with a lot of white rings spread mayo all over it, leave it for a few hours and then clean it...recovers the finish

    toothpaste as spackle

Boil vinegar to get rid of fruit flys in the kitchen

Fluff anything with down with clean tennis balls

Soak pots and pans with a dryer sheet in the water, lifts the worst stains.

clean carpet with peroxide and water 50/50 (color test first) it will remove anything and everything you can imagine.

Use large computer CD case to store your DVDs and Blurays alphabetically...clears the clutter of the cases and makes the movies super easy to find.

Peroxide will remove blood from just about ANY fabric or upholstery! It's fabulous! Like she says, though, dilute it and color test it, because it can also lighten/bleach spots too. For extra cleaning power, use washing soda or baking soda *with* peroxide, to make a paste, and clean pretty much anything. (Like homemade OxiClean!)

I use the CD cases, like for music CD's? Those big ones that zip. I have a case for scary movies, a case for funny movies, a case for Spawn's cartoons, etc... We don't keep the original movie cases, we just put them in the CD album. This saved so much space! It saves digging for movies too LOL

@love Yeah we have one of the 300 slot ones that we use for everything we even have all the special features discs in the back. The only things we keep in original cases are nice box sets, and seasons of shows....they don't take up much space though.

I have tested the peroxide blood thing first hand, close friend of mine cut himself really badly when he was living with me, he needed help so he ended up dripping blood all over the carpet getting to my room. I just soaked the spots in peroxide and blotted, no more stains. works for old stains too.

Dryer sheets are super handy to keep in the house, I found this list a bit ago thought I would share. http://www.curbly.com/users/Chrisjob/posts/1602-25-alternative-uses-for-fabric-softener-dryer-sheets

According to the comments these are all for used dryer sheets.

I took this brilliant idea from Holly The Homemaker – she has a website with some pretty cool tips & tricks.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

If you are making a casserole and want to make two so you can freeze it and have a yummers casserole whenever you want without having to cook do this:

1.)   Line your baking dish with tin foil – then cover that with wax paper.  Make your casserole in the dish as you normally would but lay the food on top of the waxed paper.

2.)   Cover with plastic wrap and a rubber band if you don’t have a lid to that dish.

3.)   Freeze until SUPER HARD – this is sometimes done overnight but usually you need a full 24 hours – especially for pasta casseroles like lasagna.

4.)   Pull it out of the freezer and take off lid or plastic wrap – turn over and it will fall out like a frozen block!  Pull of the tin foil and wax paper and seal a meal it!  Good for MONTHS & MONTHS!  If you don’t have a seal a mealer, wrap it again in foil and then in a freezer bag – it wont last as long but I would still say maybe 3 months or so.

5.)   When you want to cook it up just take it out of the bag and plop it into the dish you used to freeze it!  You can throw it in the oven frozen for hours or let it de-thaw throughout the day and bake it for like 30 minutes.

I’ve got 4 or 5 of these ready to go casseroles in my freezer for late nights right now!  So easy and fun!

One more: chop up a whole lemon, run the pieces through the garbage disposal, kills the bad smell automatically.

A piece of room temperature white bread (some people keep bread in the fridge) will clean up tiny shards of glass.

Broken light bulb? Dropped a glass?
After you sweep, there are always those teeny tiny bits... dab the floor with the bread. They stick to it.
And nope, wheat doesn't work as well, but is better than nothing.
