We do a gift exchange with my family (adults) where we exchange homemade gifts every year. I need ideas for men. I was thinking of making a chunky tee-shirt bracelet for my bro ... He's kinda metro. But I am out of ideas for all the rest of the guys.
    Bbq sauce maybe?
Cd's and family photos have been done to death. I'm lost.

No one in my family would really appreciate it. Not big drinkers.... Except for me!

Family if you are reading this make me some flavors vodka for Christmas! lol.

I love themed baskets. They don't have to be expensive. You could do the homemade BBQ sauce, make a few spice mixtures/rubs, thrown in a BBQ brush and a fun apron and you're set.

A pack of seasonal beer is always a good one for dudes as well...but they'd have to be drinkers, so I guess that won't work.

I agree @Sammie has a great idea. There are also cool sites on how to make a duct tape wallet Or here is a cool one for grandparents. Get a t-shirt with worlds greatest grandpa on it and have the little ones put hand prints on it with fabric paint and have them write their names by the hand print with fabric markers?

The basket would be cool too but it has to be made by hand.

Well then you could just fold up the apron, lay the sauces, spices, etc on top and tie it up with a hemp/natural style ribbon. You need a Pinterest account, lady. (I'm the Pinterst preacher, I swear.) It's PACKED with ideas for DIY gifts. I'm going to make most of our gifts this year. Not cheesy ideas either, good, affordable ideas.

hot sauce--if he likes spicy stuff. i use cleaned wine bottles for mine, and buy the spouts at the liquor store. for duck tape wallets, etc instructables.com is awesome. my DD makes wallets, little purses, and laptop carriers out of duck tape.

1/2 lb. or so of hot peppers (ripe jalapenos are best, not too many really hot peppers, the capsacin concentrates), roasted on a grill until the skins are blistered, and they are soft. when cool, put them in a blender with just enough apple cider vinegar so that they puree smoothly, then a little more so it's the consistency of tomato juice. add a handful of sea salt, and pulse again.  pour the whole mess in a big glass or clear plastic jar and put it in a sunny place for a week or so. (ok, a week in texas summer heat. 2 weeks if it's not very warm.) give it a good shake every day for a week or so. then strain it through a sieve and bottle it.  (i also roast garlic and onion for mine.) put in a small wine or liquor bottle with a cork, sealed with melted red wax, it looks really cool. and super cheap to make.

you just scared me. i think i wet my pants, a little.

etsy has homemade sex toys for sale----DD sells stuff (wallets, bags, etc) on etsy...i'm not sure what disturbs me more--that they sell them (sex toys), or that DD knows about them..........................

i think i just grossed myself out.

    back on topic...

customize something that the gift recipient guy needs...

My husband needed a new pilot's bag after his was stolen. So I bought him a new one (they look like laptop bags, which is why it got stolen in the first place). I bought a flight wings patch and sewed it on and then had an embroidery shop sew his initials above the wings. After years of being together he still thinks it's the best gift I got him. Embroidery is not terribly expensive- or free if you have a friend with an embroidery machine (which I don't). I also filled all of the pockets with things to lift his spirits aka Red Bull, candy for a sugar high, etc.

We are doing homemade Christmas at our house this year (its a first time for my husband- I haven't done a homemade Christmas since I was a teenager living with my parents!).

For my husband I am making a display unit for his collection of action figures (yes, we are geeks).
For his older brother a keychain that says "great brothers get promoted to uncle" with pictures of the nieces/nephews on it. Also some homemade biscuits for his dog.
For his younger brother a duct tape wallet. There is a great instructable out there for using clear packaging tape so that you can insert photos into the wallet's main structure.
For his BIL who loves to BBQ a jar of strike anywhere matches with a bit of sand paper attached to the lid, and also a small collection of homemade spice rubs for meat.
For his BIL who works outdoors a set of hand-sewen handwarmers (basically the same as sewing a bean bag except instead of filling it with beans, you fill it with ceramic pie weights) and some homemade candy.
And for his nephew we customized a couple of tech deck (fingerboards, aka tiny skateboards that you ride with your fingers, very popular with teens these days) by taking the wheels off, sanding off the original company logo, repainting it with the nephew's name and jersey number, sealing it, and re-attaching the wheels. We also made him a small ramp to ride his tech decks on.

oooh- Christmas two years ago I gave my husband a hoodie that I painted to say "the world's best dad is a detroit lions fan"
my husband loved that hoodie so much that when it got stained he specifically requested that I make him a new one for fathers day
