I'm not sure if this has been talked about before. (sorry if it has) what does everyone do for a living? Is it what you wanted to do? Including SAHM how many kids? I was a SAHM (now working) I think its a job too.

I tried that SAHM thing. I bow down to all of you that do it. It's the hardest job I have ever had.

@kysmommy I agree with you completely! @Love did you enjoy working with at risk youth? I have thought about looking into that. I could see how its would be difficult but extremely rewarding at the same time

It's exactly that @lovinmom. Exactly that. It's heartbreaking, frustrating, agonizing...but at the same time, one of the most rewarding, fulfilling things I've ever done.

My past jobs include data entry clerk for the federal tax agency in Canada, bartender, shooter girl, beer tub girl, stripper :) yee haw lol

@freedomlover this is something I don't mention do why not put it out for everyone to see right? Lol I have always wondered what it would be like to be a stripper. I doubt I could because I can't dance but I love pole dancing classes

@loveit I think you should give it time and try to work on the cons if they don't get better what you know in your heart is right. Who am I to comment though lol I'm going through a divorce!

I will say this... Being a stripper in Canada is a lot different than in the states. I travelled across Canada, only staying at each club for one week. I actually really enjoyed that time in my life, as I was travelling and seeing the country, free as a bird. I chose where I wanted to go and made fabulous money. And there is no touching or anything like that-there are moats around the stages to prevent that. We had posters, key chains, magnets, lighters etc that the customers would buy off us, that's how we made tips.

@freedomlover could you do pretty crazy stuff on the pole? I think it takes amazing strength to do that stuff.

I am currently a SAHM to a wild firecracker of a (recently turned) 2 year old. This little girl is a hellcat and there's never a dull moment around here. We decided that one of use would be a full time parent when we were pregnant, then DH got a wonderful job opportunity a few weeks before college graduation...so here I am. :)

I have a bachelor's degree in Education and Social Psychology, but my career before becoming a mama was a restaurant/bar manager. I LOVED it. It's always been my dream to work with children as a teacher, therapist, or social worker, but I've always worked in the restaurant business as a way to make a good living while going to school and the career just fell in my lap. The salary was way too generous to pass up, so I snagged the job and that's how I met my DH. :)

@loveit, I was JUST telling Nathan last night that I would LOVE to be an interior designer. They had an interior design program at the University I attended and I was always jealous of the students.

Omg I have seen some amazingly talented and strong girls on the pole! I am more of a dancer than a gymnist (sp?) So I definitely incorporated the pole in my shows, but I am 5'9" so I wasn't one of the crazy little things flying around up there lol.

I'm a secretary now, used to be in sales making almost twice as much, but am so happy now. Less money but exponentially less stress. I am thinking about going back to school. I'd love to finish my Chemistry degree, but nights and weekends don't really have those classes.

I have a BA in communications but like an idiot I didn't specialize in anything so my degree is so general its pretty much worthless. I would have to go back and get my masters to make any money, which I would really like to do but I'm already going to be paying off student loans for the rest of my life.

Dispatch manager for a small trucking company.  Oh the fun I have dealing with everyone's personal problems and personalities!  Really it is fun.  Everyday is different.  Plus my boss is really awesome - I can bring DD to work if she's sick or out of school; leave early when I need to for DD; my dog comes to work with me too; ETC.

SAHM to DD4  and DS2 and part time mommy of a 1 year old (really...she calls me mom)
Im pretty extraordinary in an ordinary way
  • Before I had my DD, I was a professional nanny for ten years while earning my degree in child development and certificates in Postpartum Doula, lactation educator, Infant Sleeping Coaching and Infant Care specialist. I primarily worked with newborns and twins in both North and Southern California.
My clientele consisted of celebrities, government officials, famous chefs, Football players, hockey players, socialites, musicians, High end Bankers, actors, heiress', mayors etc......
I also owned a well known nanny placement service out of san jose, CA which I sold last year. Also high profile clientele (Hardest, stressful, unappreciated job I have ever done!! I don't miss owning my business at all!)
While I was building my nanny agency I worked nights doing sleep coaching for twins/newborns, also doing public speaking and helping new moms by referral from the hospitals.
    I wear many hats.

I am now a SAHM while still helping a few moms here and there with sleep coaching, breastfeeding troubles and newborn care.

Up until last April I was a PreK teacher in a public school district. Now I am a SAHM to our DS(almost)2 and our basset hound, Bosley. We're expecting another DS March 10.

If I ever go back to work I'll either sub in the local school district, maybe finally teach Middle School Social Studies like I have always wanted....or do something else entirely different. We'll see how jaded I still am by then.

I also have my own Etsy shop...I make items as I have time to and sell them. I wouldn't mind doing it more full time once the kids are in school full time. I'd love to do craft shows, too, one day.
I'm as sexy as a burp mid-kiss. Watch out!

I was a full time police officer, now I'm a full time 911 dispatch supervisor and a part time cop, because the hours were better and included less forced overtime (for court, paperwork, etc). I gave up my dream job, for now, but I see twice as much of my son, and still get to kick ass and take names part time ;)

I've also been a waitress, beer girl/ticket girl at a NASCAR track, lifeguard/swim instructor, worked in retail and an in school suspension supervisor (worst.job.ever.)

Oh gosh, when I made money: Event Organizing, I was a fundraising coordinator and I had a lot of Office Jobs, I've also done Graphic Design and Advertising consulting on the side (sounds fancier than it is: i.e. I helped friends of friends with brochures, flyers, etc.) I am currently a student, and mom.

@lovinmom - it was alright but really draining.  I worked for a bankruptcy firm though and the people kind of got me down after a while.  Being yelled at everyday for 5 years wasn't a lot of fun.  The company was a good one though and that made up for it, but in the end if I ever needed to get a job again I would probably go some where else.

I'm an attorney (another please don't hate me job).  Before law school I was a social worker in the mental health field.  I would LOVE to be able to stay at home with my son, at least part time, but I am swimming in student loan debt, so that won't be happening.
