I love cast iron! We recently got the Orgreenic (sp?) frying pan. It is not what they claim it to be. And you have to season it just like cast iron so...

We recently bought cast iron pans but they rust after every use! :(

Really liked our non stick pan, but the non stick is flaking now. :(

If your washing your cast iron after every use it will rust.  You really aren't supposed to wash cast iron.  It's supposed to be seasoned.  You're supposed to wipe it out.  If you're concerned about the "stuff" on them, burn/crisp it off.  Best way to do that is in a fire.  If that's not available the oven will work.

You can purchase non-stick spray to replace your non-stick surfaces.

A good place to purchase excellent cookware is at a restaurant supply store.  Hands down some of the best shit you can get!

Yes! You can also scrub out any rust on your cast iron and "season" it with lard in a really hot oven to restore it. I had to do this when I was younger. I have scars because we were supposed to bake the cast iron at five-hundred something degrees and I was taking the pans out to cool them when I discovered that my *wonderful* little brother decided to cut slits in the potholders. 2nd degree burns to my hands, belly, hip and foot. 'Twas great. That being said, cast iron
upkeep is super easy and they cook things really well.

I clean mine with kosher salt and a paper towel. Rinse and dry if needed. Tsp of oil smeared around and then put it in a plastic grocery bag to store.

Does the salt have to be kosher @lauriebizz?

@livingthedream No, but the bigger crystals provide better scrubbing :) I store mine in the bag, because I don't use them everyday.

I use coarse sea salt to clean mine with. And when I'm done rinsing it, I turn on a burner on the stove, set the pan on it and use a paper towel to dry. And then I pour oil in and spread it around the inside. I have my eye on bobby flay's 12 inch cast iron at kohls. Can't wait for payday!

@anonmom When I was there last week it was on sale for about $15.00!!! I was strictly clothes shopping so I had to wait. But the clothes I got, ended up getting me a $10 kohls bucks so I'm going to use that as well when I go back. I just hope it's still on sale! You can't even get a generic 9" cast iron at walmart for less than $20! And it will be my very first piece of bobby flay cook ware. I have 3 of his cookbooks. He is my FAVORITE!!!

I woship my Kitchenaid Massive fry pan.  It is about 16 inches in diameter, 4 inches deep, heavy as hell...definitely a 2 hand load, is very versatile...can use in oven or on stove.  Comes with a clear glass lid also.  It is Teflon lined and very well made.  Expensive though.  I think I spent about $130 on mine. But, you can do everything in it.  Got it at Kohl's also.

Calphalon is expensive, but view it as an investment. We got ours when we got married 9 years ago and they still work like new, even with a couple of nicks on the inside. If you buy a lesser brand, you'll end up replacing them sooner, so you've technically spent the same amount of money for lesser quality cookware. Target has it, I know, that's where mine came from. Do they have lay-away?? K-Mart does, but I don't know if they carry that brand. Good luck with whatever you choose!!
