I'm going to Disneyland on April 24-27 and will be over 20 weeks pregnant. I'm obviously staying off the major roller coasters and just planning on do the smaller riders with my 6 yr old son.

My question is have any of you been to an amusement park pregnant and do you think it will be safe?

    Any tips?

I havent been to Disney while pregnant but a state fair just avoid any of the big rides and most small kiddo rides are safe but read the warning signs and take anti nausea meds and stay hydrated

I went to Epcot 6 months pregnant and had a great time. We did the really calm rides like Nemo, The Land, El Rio Del Tiempo and the Maelstrom, and my DH's favorite (insert eye roll) Spaceship Earth. All were pretty slow, no sudden turns and no jerky movements.

My best advice, STAY HYDRATED! I was doing ok for most of the day, but my hands and feet started swelling (the only time I had swelling my whole pregnancy) so we got a bottle of water and we rode the bench for a few minutes.

And wear sunscreen, believe or not pregnant lady skin is more vulnerable to sunburn. Learned that the hard way this summer. LOL
I'm as sexy as a burp mid-kiss. Watch out!

I went to lego land and sea world when I was about 5 months pregnant they had a sign on each ride if you could go on with health conditions or not. You should be able to go online and find each rides safety recommendations. Plenty of water and comfortable shoes.

we are going in less than.two weeks and I will be 18 weeks pregnant with a 2 1/2 yr old and a 5 1/2 year old.  I plan on letting hubby do most of the riding.
  • I did Disneyland when I was 23 weeks preg with DD. I still rode pirates of the Caribbean and all the good rides. I walked a lot so get good shoes!
Limit your sugar intake and watch the heat.
I waited too long to eat, it was blazin hot and nearly fainted at California adventure. The OC is hot in Aptil. We used to live 20 min from Disneyland.
We are going in May and if I'm pregnant right now, I'll be 15 weeks.

That's true.  I think you will know what you can and can't do.  If you have any doubts, check with your doctor before you go.  He/She might be able to put you at ease.  Just remember the water and comfy shoes.  Have fun!

I'm sorry I don't know the website address, but do google Disneyland while pregnant or something to that extent and there are a couple of good sites/blogs with info on every single ride actually. I know one I found while pregnant (we didn't end up able to actually go, but that's a different story) was written by a big Disney fan who has compiled her own list (even had tips on least popular bathrooms so you don't hit a huge line when pregnant bladder kicks in, lol!), and if I'm not mistaken I think there is even one either done by Disney themselves or at least "endorsed" by them. Anyway, you can find the exact "warnings" that you would see posted out at the front of the rides at the park (i.e. not appropriate for pregnant women, not appropriate for heart conditions, back problems, not wheelchair accessible, etc.). That way you can even sort of "map" your trip in advance. Have fun!

@Still_ur_mommy, I worked in rides at a theme park (not Disney) for 8 years and was the Rides department manager for 3 of those.  I strongly suggest reading the safety information that should be posted at the entrance to the line of each ride or check the website before you go as they probably have them listed there. Also take into consideration that those recommendations are from the manufacturer of the ride and that they take into account not only normal operations but also what occurs if something like a power outage, a mechanical failure or the ride operator (or a guest!) hits the emergency stop button and the ride has to be evacuated. For example, in most rides that involve water, if something happens the water will immediately drain into a reservoir which may increase the current and if you're in a boat the one behind you will most likely slam into you very hard.  Some recommendations are made because of the way safety restraints are designed to fit and work.
Other than that make sure you drink plenty of water and I would suggest you make sure to know where the first aid station is in case you need it.

I think you will be fine, just drink lots of water, and your feet could hurt and ankles swell with the extra walking and the little bit of extra weight.  Have fun!!
