    You're so lucky @chocoholic! I love my hubby to death, but the one thing that dude absolutely CAN'T do is cook. At all. I'm still trying to teach him to BBQ because he really wants to be in charge of the grill in the Summer. Ha! He's such a nerd.

    Lol @sammie, I'm not allowed to grill, even though I'm good at it. Dh has claimed it. He makes his own bread crumbs out of quinoa bread, I'd guess they are as good as shake and bake? No idea haha.

And if it makes you feel any better my DS2 drank all of my Mountain Dew when I was using the bathroom a few days ago :-SS Talk about not getting him to bed that night lol I totally won the mother of the year award on that one =D>

    I think we all do the best we can food wise - given our different budgets and time restraints.

    For 5 years I was a single parent working full time weird shift with kids who were not helpful around the house, so food became what I could get on the table with the amount of energy I had leftover - so lots of pre packaged lasagna, chicken pies and shepards pie with a bag salad or frozen vegs.  Cheaper and slightly more healthy than take out all the time. I felt guilty all the time about it as I wanted to cook more but I needed to sleep as well!!

    Now I have a partner who really helps around the house, and I occaisionally have a housekeeper come in, so I have alot more time to cook.  Now much more is homemade from scratch - which I prefer.  The kids even say - we didn't eat this well before Gary came. They don't remeber that I cooked like that before the divorce as again two adults in the house makes a huge difference.

    We put too much stress on ourselves. I have moments that I feel "less than" for not being perfect.
     Thats one of the reasons I love this site. I can feel okay about being perfectly imperfect.

    The OC never once said any of YOU are failures, she said SHE felt like a failure.  She wasnt judging anyone other than herself.  Why does everyone have to take things as personal attacks?


    I've never had shake n bake, a pop tart or many other processed things, but no one says you can't.  But like the OC, I am entitled to feel those foods aren't appropriate for my child, and you are all entitiled to make your own personal choices

    @kdt7688 I did read thru the comments and a lot of people were being rather defensive and stating "oh excuse me for being such a mom failure" etc etc.  The tone everyone was taking was kinda snarky.  Why can't this woman feel like she failed because of what she did?  She wasn't confessing "I think anyone who uses shake n bake is a failure"  she just said she felt like one and most responses were catty

    We do shake and bake a few times a year. It reminds me of when I was a kid. I like the smell of it more than the taste though. I always regret it afterwards because there is soooooo much sodium in it.
