Haha! Did you see the news article about the people who didn't know their 3 year old was missing until they saw her on the 11:00 pm news?! They went to a big party at chuck e cheese and thought she went home with other relatives! Who the fuck does that? And no charges were pressed!
    3 years old!!!

Parents of a 3-year-old girl had some explaining to do after they forgot their daughter at a Chuck E Cheese and did not realize it until they saw her picture on the evening news.

The girl, named Harmony, was left behind at the theme restaurant in Bel Air, Md., after she attended a large party with her parents. According to a report from the Harford County Sheriff's Office,  both of Harmony's parents, who share custody, assumed the girl had gone home with other relatives.

A restaurant manager alerted sheriff's deputies around 8 p.m.  that the girl had been left alone  after Harmony approached a staff member to say  she was thirsty.

Unable to locate the 3-year-old girl's parents, the deputies asked local news media to put Harmony's picture on the evening news.

Shortly after Harmony's picture showed up on the 11 p.m. newscast, multiple phone calls came into the Sheriff's Office, including calls from the girl's  parents. After police determined that Harmony's abandonment was inadvertent, Child Protective Services released her to her mother, and no charges are expected to be filed.

Calls to the Harford County Sheriff's Office from ABC News were not immediately returned.

    LOL, @mai

I was talking to @livinthedream about how my DD has begun escaping the house as of late. I have to deadbolt everything. I'm waiting for the day she escapes and I don't realize it until the police and news are there. LOL!

How are you not sure who has your 3 year old? Isn't there the standard bag of 'things' most 3 year olds need to be sent home with? Aren't you asking the person you think is taking your child if they would like you to put the car seat into their car for them?? I'm baffled.

@lifeisgood - DH and I both have car seats and so do my ILs. They also have clothes and stuff there. We only see them every month or so.

For the record, I say it in jest, that my toddler will escape, mostly. I typically know exactly where she is, but she does tend to go to my mom's apartment when I'm not looking frequently. My mom leaves her door open because she knows DD will come and go as she pleases. I have a few times caught her standing in the door way. Those little suckers can move quickly when your pissing!

@LivinTheDream - I guess I can understand that...My mom always had stuff at her house for mine when they were small. I am admittedly a bit of a schizo ...I would have walked my kid out with whoever was taking them and did the kiss kiss hug hug...and then I sure as HELL would have sprinted to my car joyfully childfree!!  I guess I can also understand temporary insanity upon leaving Chuck E Cheese.

It never ceases to amaze me how dumbass people keep populating our planet.  I could understand if the kid wandered out of the house for a little while, but no one even knew they left the kid at chuckee's  until it was on the news?  WTF??  Poor kid.

@onetime my son escaped all the time we had to put chain locks on the door and chairs in front of them. He is autistic and didn't sleep so we were afraid he would go wondering in the middle of the night

    @Daystar8531 and @imjustme I agree

@kjkrazy, We are thinking we might need to do something similar if she figures our the locks. She's not on the spectrum or anything, she's just wild and crazy! LOL!

  • wow.  I get that is was a mistake but still.  Who doesn't check to make sure their kids are taken care of before they leave?? I left a family reunion early last year and was leaving my DD behind with my parents.  I checked with them, double checked so they knew I was leaving, then made sure SHE knew she was supposed to be leaving with Grandma before I left.

What I don't get is chuck e cheese puts a stamp or sticker with a number on the kid and the parents so they make sure the child goes home with their parents...so how could another relative take the child home??? Doesn't add up to me.

Anytime my kid is missing in a crowded place, I always assume they're either with relatives or the guy with the van that says "Free Candy" on the side.

    Um, really? :/

    You'd be surprised.
Last summer, my nephew had a birthday party at ChuckECheese. My husband and I and ALLLLL our kids went, and they stamped all our hands when we went in.
About an hour or so later, my SIL needed to go out to her car to get more batteries for her camera, and DD wanted to go out with her, to get something out of my truck. They breezed right through the door, without so much as a second glance.

My first reaction was "Are you kidding me!?!" Then I remembered my parents leaving my sister behind at church when I was growing up. They didn't notice until supper time.

I've never done that with my kids.

reminds me of candid camera where the parents would pretend to leave their car carrier on the hood of the car & drive off.  didn't that lady have a tribe of kids with her?

Anytime my kids leave the house or me we do a round of goodbye kisses and "I love yous"
I feel so bad for that baby, imagine the fear she was expieriencing!
Never assume, it doesn't take much to make sure your kids are safe with the person you've left them with.

There really isn't but I had conversation previous to this post that I said I am expecting it to happen to me, so that made @livinthedream tag me and I laughed about that, not this situation... :)
