I need birthday ideas!!

My dd just turned 6 and wants a sleepover instead of a regular birthday party. I said ok before I thought about it and now that's what we are doing, THIS Saturday night. I have no idea how to entertain kindergarteners for an entire night!! I can barely entertain them for a 2 hour birthday party, I usually have parties at places and it's so much easier!! You show up, pay a little too much, but it's all taken care of, I just bring cake and that's it!! I'm not creative in the least!! So, I'm thinking paint nails, let them do each others make up and hair, have a fashion show and dance party?!?! And hopefully watch a movie around 9 or so and everyone falls asleep happy? Does it usually work like that?

And if any of you wonderful mommies are creative I would love ideas on arts and crafts we can do, that aren't too expensive, that are good for 5-6 year olds!!

Please help me! I have gotten myself into a slumber party and now I have to find fun things to do!

I really want this to be the best slumber party ever! My dd6 so deserves it, she's such an amazing little girl!!

Ok, how many 6 year olds are attending? This is an important thing because you may need to enlist some mommy backup. If it were me I wouldn't have more than 6 of them. And as for crafts, you can look into a create your own tiara kit. they have them at Michael's and Hobby Lobby. The hair and makeup thing, you WILL need backup. You really really don't want to entrust them with some of those things solo. It's best if you can do "stations" where a mom or older girl does it. The reason I say this is they tend to get things tangles in their hair and some makeup stains.

When I was little and had parties the one thing my mom always set up was a "make your own sundae" bar. She'd get all sorts of candies, cookie crumbs and sprinkles & lay them all out & let us make our own sundae. It was so much fun.
You could also rent some movies for them to watch & make popcorn.
The hair/makeup/dance/fashion show sound awesome too
As for crafts, I'm not very artistic, but you could do cookie decorating. Make some simple cookies & then let them ice them & cover them in candies (just tell them they have to take them home so they aren't awake all night on a sugar high)

I think your ideas are awesome. Although I doubt you'll get them to sleep at 9.  Hehe, good luck with that.

How many kids are you having?

What about going to the dollar store and picking up cheap crafts?  Or the make-up dont want them using your good stuff.  And if its nice outside, kick them..er keep them out of the house as much as possible.

Thanks ladies! I'm thinking there are going to be 5 or 6 girls coming but not sure because some aren't RSVPing so there may be less, but I hope not becaus that would hurt my Lily's feelings. I really like the tiara kit idea, I'll go in search of those tonight and I also love the sundae bar and cookie decorating, and my girls will too! And thanks for the dollar store make up idea because I was worrying about spending too much money on makeup that probably wouldn't be able to be used again and no way were they getting ahold of mine! I am going to have the help of my sil and one of her friends that are teenagers and are looking forward to having life size dolls to make up. Lol!
I know they won't be asleep by 9, I doubt they'll be asleep by midnight, lol! I know I was wishful thinking with 9! Hehe! I can't even get all my kids to sleep by 9. Oh and if it's nice out I will be "nicely" suggesting all of the fun things we can do out in the backyard!!

You are a very brave woman!  :D
I went to a lot of slumber parties as a kid, and we always had more fun if there was something more than just movies and popcorn.  I went to one once where we dyed t-shirts, then wrote our names in fabric marker on them.

Most definitely!! All those ideas are pretty great! I always make sure I have lots of disposable dishes around, too. Saves on the mess, and paper plates are also great for crafts. Masks, shakers, all kinds of stuff to make out of them. Good luck to you mama!! You might want to check into a spa day for you after its all over!!

@nessamommy I figured just movie and popcorn would last, oh about, 10 minutes with a group of young girls that's why I wanted ideas! I love the t-shirt idea too! I want to give them fun things to do and for them to all have a great time. And also I want to wear them out so hopefully they'll sleep good and at least sleep until 8 the next morning. I know they'll probably be up before that, but I said hopefully! Lol!
Ear plugs are a must! I just added that to my list along with disposable dishes and utensils!! Thank you so much! I am feeling a lot more confident about this sleepover and I think its going to turn out great now!

How outdated is it to suggest fruit loop necklaces?
Make your own pizzas were a hit at DD9$ bday.
Make your own bracelet/jewlery kits are nice.
I like the sundae bar idea.

I love the make you own pizza! I would've never thought of that, we were going to buy pizza. Now I'm just going to buy pizza supplies and set it up like the ice cream bar.
I think I'm going to do the jewelry making too, simply because my dds love making things with beads and I HATE beads!! They get everywhere, but I can make an exception. Maybe we can do it on the back porch.

Love the make your own sundae idea! I may do that tonight with my kids just for the heck of it, as something fun to do.
