Ok ladies. When I get this bad of a funk I try (keyword TRY) to do 10 things a day I'm thankful for. Tonights... you'll laugh about. and I haven't even done it yet.
1) Diet coke. God I love diet coke more than... most things. an icy cold diet coke is bliss
2) Hot showers, thank god I have a hot shower and can take one EVERY day.
3) washer and dryers... I had to go like a month without clean clothes when homeless. there are days now that I just want to hug my washer and dryer... I love that I ALWAYS have clean clothes of some sort now
4) tooth brush and tooth paste and teeth! I get to brush my teeth when I want to! I have running water!
5) Cell phone. I can text people if I want... and sometimes people text me! It's so nice to get a text saying "Hey thinking of you, love you" from a friend
6) a bed. Thank you god I have a bed. It may be an old old old bed but guess what? I have sheets and a comforter and I have a place to sleep
7) shelter. Yes I live with two very odd ducks. but I have a roof over my head when it rains or when it's boiling hot or when it's snowing. I LOVE that. I didn't have one for 15 months. no place to call my own. never sure where I'd sleep that night. and I have it again.
8) did I mention diet coke? SHIT. :( uhm lets go with... ice cream this time
9) (fuck I'm struggling) shoes. I'm glad I have shoes to wear. very comfy practical shoes. a couple cute unpractical pairs too (that I wear less often)
10) my laptop. it lets me talk to the ladies of SM and ... let my brain rot. Thank you ladies.

@fatchickonabike does she have epillipse (damn you spelling why do you make life so difficult!) or an undiagnosed seizure disorder (that's what I have)
Grand mal? petitie mal? and what is she on? sorry she's on the meds... but I'm SO glad she will take her meds so she doesn't seize. How old is she?
Just keep swimming. Just keep swimming. Just keep swimming, swimming, swimming. What do we do? We swim, swim. -
@Luvlyssa, my daughter has Sturge-Weber Syndrome, which is essentially an overgrowth of capillary blood vessels in the skin (causing a port wine stain birthmark) and brain along the path of the trigeminal nerve. The seizures are caused by the excess blood vessels, which behave like a mass in the brain and trigger the seizures.
We were incredibly lucky in my daughter’s case. Normally SWS seizures are intractable and surgery is required; also, if the seizures begin before age 2, children will often suffer neurological impairments that delay their development. However, our daughter didn’t begin having seizures until she was almost four years old, so her development was able to proceed normally and she does not have any delays or deficits.
According to her neurologist, in some SWS cases, the child’s brain realizes there is something wrong in one hemisphere and performs a sort of “natural lobotomy,” meaning it cuts the neurological links between the hemispheres to keep the seizures from spreading. That seems to be what has happened in her case. I just pray it continues.
As for meds, she takes Frisium and Topamax, along with baby aspirin to maintain blood circulation through the capillaries.ETA: She'll be 7 in July.
"The most essential gift for a good writer is a built-in, shock-proof bullshit detector.” - Ernest Hemingway -
wow @fatchickonabike that's... ok I admit. I said "wow that's so cool". I mean it sucks. don't misunderstand but human bodies are SO FREAKING WEIRD. I've never heard of Frisium... I'll have to google that. so she could be seizure free after her body takes care of itself? that's ... I admit. awesome. I'm jealous!
Just keep swimming. Just keep swimming. Just keep swimming, swimming, swimming. What do we do? We swim, swim. -
@Luvlyssa, no, she will never be seizure free as long as the overgrowth of blood vessels is there. The "natural lobotomy" business just keeps the seizures treatable with drugs but can't get rid of them altogether. The reason SWS seizures are usually intractable is that the "bad" hemisphere begins recruiting the "good" or unaffected hemisphere into the seizures and that makes them very difficult to control. I wish her brain could heal itself, but unfortunately it can't in this instance.

awww crap I'm sorry I misunderstood @fatchickonabike i'm glad they're treatable though:) they suck ass... but thank god for meds.
