Some of the songs already mentioned like in my arms, travelin solders, and whiskey lullaby. Stronger by Sara Evens
Dance with my father again by Lynal Richie. That song was playing as soon as I got in my car after leaving the cemetery when I buried my dad.
Any country song pretty much lol

Blood Red River- Beth Orton

What is it with "You Are My Sunshine"??
When my firstborn was tiny, the very first time I tried singing this to him I just LOST IT. Inexplicably.
My Grandma used to sing it to me, and it never made me cry then. And now, my "baby" is 20 and ever since he was young, 8 or 9, he cannot hear that song without tearing up either. It's a really intense reaction.
"But a lesson must be lived
In order to be learned"
Ani DiFranco, Manhole -
@Charlotte_Sometimes that's the same with me! My 5 year old sang it to me a couple of days ago. I had to hold back my tears so she didn't thing she made me sad.
-
I can relate to the OP. My dad died 7 yrs ago at 53 and certain songs rip me up.
Couple of repeats...
Let it Be, In My Life, & I'll Follow the Sun- Beatles (for my dad)
Daughter- Loudon Wainwright III (saw it in Knocked Up, reminds me of DD)
True Companion- Marc Cohen (that song is like the epitome of love...)
"O Holy Night"... at Christmas-time
The Dance- Garth Brooks
Time Passages- Al Stewart (makes me think of my mom getting older, which is never a good thought)
and that Hallelujah scene from Shrek- oh, man.
-
Brooks and Dunn "Cowgirls Don't Cry" especially the part with Reba, I'm always a mess by the time that song ends.
-
Butterfly Kisses - Bob Carliyle
Chsing Cars - Snow Patrol

Let me go - 3 Doors down
When I'm Gone - 3 Doors down

@nikki I'm glad Dw isn't the only one who cries to Vermillion pt 2,
Also You Are My Sunshine is how my daughter got her nickname, it makes Dw tear up too.
You show the lights that stop me turn to stone, You shine it when I'm alone. And so I tell myself that I'll be strong
And dreaming when they're gone. -
Butterfly Kisses - Bob Carlyle
Landslide - Stevie Nicks
Dust in the Wind - Kansas
Taps
Amazing Grace - definitely the bagpipe version
On Eagle's Wings - always hear this one at funerals :(
-
Right now a big one for me has been Taylor Swifts Keep Your Eyes Open. I'm sure once things start looking up I'll feel less like bawling over it.
The 8th of November by Big and Rich ALWAYS gets me.
Jane Sibery - It Can't Rain all the Time from The Crow.
Flogging Molly's - If I Ever Leave this World Alive
Amazing Grace...doesn't matter who sings it.
And always...ALWAYS...shit I'm tearing up right now listening to it...the piano version of the Love Story theme song. My mom used to play it all the time when I was a little girl. I'd sit at the top of the steps, lay my head against the wall and listen to it. My mom is still alive and well...there's no real horrible moment wrapped up in that song. There's just a beauty to it that makes me cry.
