    Ok. I'm trying to stay calm, rational and level headed...but I can feel my heart thumping harder and my chest doing its best to not cave in.

    My brother is in the hospital. My sister just texted me. She's with him and my Dad. They think it's bad pneumonia...but they aren't sure yet.

    I'm worried because it could be more than that...or that it'll hit him hard. He was a heroin addict for a many years. He cleaned up, but he still smokes cigs and pot and drinks...and I doubt very much he makes yearly wellness visits to the doctor.

    There's so much swirling in my head right now.

    I'm asking for anything...good vibes, well wishes, prayers...I'm sure I'm over reacting, but I've had nightmares about losing my big brother so...

    Praying heavily. Please mention MRSA to them. We went through this where they thought it was pneumonia, TB, and whooping cough with my brother. he was in icu 7 months.. it was MRSA in his lungs.

    Thank you everyone! My sister texted me this morning. He is in the ICU for severe pneumonia...she was going back to the hospital in a little bit.

    Its hard not living by everyone anymore...I can deal with things like this so much better when I can be there in person.

    @silentscreamer I will mention MRSA. He had been camping and doing outdoorsy stuff a lot the past few weeks. I know he and some friends were caught in a bad thunderstorm on a mountain last month....

    They were getting fluid out of his lungs this afternoon....this AM he tried to make a break for it. He's a piece of work. I think he feels like a caged wild animal.

    Thank you! I don't know that he's scared. It might be more antsy and slightly paranoid.

    Our sister and Dad are there in and out during the day. I'd go up, but I don't want to risk bringing germs home fom the hospital and getting the kiddos sick. For now I'll keep checking in with them and I'll plan fom there.

    Just spoke to my sister and then my dad. He has Legionarre's Disease. They moved him from the ER to ICU last night. He's hooked up to an oxygen mask for now and they are draining his lung at 1:30pm. The doctor said once that's done they're keeping him a few days to monitor and put him on antibiotics. He'll be on antibiotics for a little bit once he gets home.

    If his roommate hadn't called my dad, and he and my sister hadn't dragged him to the ER he might not be here. If he succeeded in his "jail breaks" (he tried again last night) he probably would've died.

    So...he's ok now. I think 2 days in the ER definitely rattled him, it would rattle anyone. His uncle pulled strings to get him in the ICU sooner and he's helping with the doctors.

    Thank you all so much for your support. I didn't want to take this to FB...the support here feels more genuine and sincere. No one's sending their well wishes to save face, KWIM? Thank you!

    Spoke to my dad today. My brother is doing much better. They drained his lung successfully and he's on antibiotics. Dad said he should be home in the next couple of days.

    Thank you all so much for your support and well wishes. I can't tell you how much it means to me. If I could buy you all a round of your favorite beverage I would!

    I am glad he is doing better. I will continue to pray for him to get better and better. I have heard that having a lung drained is not what you would call fun. :-&

    I am glad he is home. You tend to heal better at home. You don't have the nurses waking you up to see if you need and medication to help you sleep. My mom actuaully had one do that. :-/
