Prayers needed. Son fractured skull-blood on the brain.

ugh.... i hate waiting for them to do those scans... I'm surprised they don't have him deeper sedated. Poor guy may be in tons of pain.
*hugs* to you @sara... your family is in my prayers.

Update. Apparently the nurse was not well informed. The dr stopped by and said that Adam has a Subdural Hematoma. Bruising on the brain. There is progression is the blood in his brain (wtf?). The fractures on his skull are very close to the blood vessels that carry blood to his brain so they are going to do additional tests to ensure they weren't damaged. They are going to do an MRI/MRA this afternoon. It's a three hour test...nurse says if the dr doesn't come back and immediately start doing stuff...take that as a good sign. Some of the people here are very helpful...some are seagulls.Think of your problems as challenges to overcome not obstacles to be avoided.

Thoughts and prayers for you, your son and your family.

I know you have a lot going on right now Sara, but I was wondering if a caring bridge page has been started for your son? It makes it easier for you to keep everyone updated at once so that you do not constantly have to separately update, family, friends, mommies, etc. individually. Praying for great scan results.

Thinking of you & your son, hope he gets well soon. Don't blame yourself >:D<

@Sara...caringbridge is a website that is free of charge and that allows you a place to update and keep in touch with people that want to know how your son is doing. You can post his updates, pictures, concerns, etc on it and everyone can access it to keep up to date. It is a godsend for people that have a lot of family and friends that need to be informed. here is the website and if you need help with it...ask ANYONE on the hospital staff...they are all aware of it. I am honestly surprised that they have not mentioned it to you. http://www.caringbridge.org/
If you need anything, please let me know.

thx for the update @Sara. I'll let you in on a little secret: it's probably a good thing he's not being rushed in anywhere, that means he's fairly stable, despite being sedated and intubated, though I know the waiting for tests and results is ALWAYS the hardest part...Bite me, cupcake!

I'm sorry you and your family are going through this, my family has been dealing with brain issues these past few weeks as well, feel free to PM me if you need to vent on someone. Try to have faith that the doctors will be able to help him. It is too early to know anything for sure, and worst case scenarios are just that, worst case. Brain damage is not neccessarily horrible, there are so many areas of the brain and they each have different functions. Waiting for the tests is horrible, but you should have some more specific answers soon. Sending all my love to you and Adam.

Oh, sweetheart, I'm so sorry. Sending prayers for your whole family.

Hey sweetie. I can't check in as much on here, so I'm just now seeing the updates. I know nothing about what any of that means. But I know you have to be scared to death. Thank you for updating us. You will continue to be on my heart. Sending you and Adam much love.

Prayers sent your way!

Thank you all so much. Adam's tests came back. Long story short, for the overall situation he is in the best shape possible. His blood vessels are fine. The blood in his brain is minimal and expected to absorb naturally. They are planning to remove his breathing tube and lift his sedation tomorrow. They say his numbers are perfect and the outlook is good. Just this second they are removing his neck brace. Again, thank you all so much. Will keep you posted.Think of your problems as challenges to overcome not obstacles to be avoided.
