My husband told me that dd's room smelled like skunk bud. I asked her, she handed it over. Some PRIMO shit. Smells & looks delicious. We never had weed like that when I was 17! Guess what we're doing tonight :)
-
:)) Love it!! I remember when my mom found mine when I was 16 I wonder what she did with it?? Lol
-
My mom gave me pot for my sweet 16. Her theory was she would rather me do it at home and get it from her, so she would know it's safe, than be running around with who knows what.
-
I would freak out. Sorry I might be a stick in the mud but there will be no pot in my house ! If I find it first it will be flushed and second the child who had it will not see anywhere other than school and maybe church." Wibbly wobbly timey wimey ......." The Doctor
" I'm a leafe on the wind..watch how I soar ." Wash :((
" Oh the wall had it comming.' Sherlock Holmes
yea I am geek !! -
Unless someone is growing in their house, you can't guarantee it's safe, a lot of marijuana is laced with pcp, coke, or other such nasty things. If I saw something like that in my child's room, I'd get him into some type of treatment right away. He knows now that doing drugs is dumb, I just hope it sticks.

18you can do what you want before that your dead.. I was 19 when i started and 23 when i stopped..mom of wild children

I swear my mother smoked the stuff she found in my undie draw when I was 16.

Im not sure how Id feel about this. I used to smoke it, and to be honest it seems like one of those things that a lot of teens/young adults try. I know ppl think its a gateway drug...but Its sorta like drinking. You can't wait to have a drink when you go legal. But not everyone that has a drink ends up an alcoholic. Probably not everyone that smokes pot now and then needs treatment either. I used to smoke, now I don't. If my kid does I hope its just an experimental occasional thing and not a career path :P
-
@OtakuHime
I totally agree that pot is not appropriate for teenagers, but I just wanted to point out that most pot is not laced with PCP and coke. If it were laced with those things a dealer would absolutely charge more for their product since it would be quite expensive to randomly add more drugs to drugs.
I think this is an important detail, because when I'm telling my kids about why smoking pot is a bad idea, I think that once they figured out that pot isn't laced with PCP and coke they should be armed with the facts. Pot will make them lethargic and not care about their grades and life as much as they should. They could become a basement dwelling loser while all of their friends pass them by.

Yeah, I have to agree here. I've been buying pot for 20+ years and I have never even heard of such a thing actually happening. I don't know where this information comes from, but it is certainly not the general practice. Perhaps it happens sometimes, but "a lot" - I'd have to disagree with that. Most dealers aren't really in the habit of giving away their expensive products for free. I would much rather the kids know the real dangers, like @purple_crush pointed out, rather than believe the fear-mongering hype. It seems these days, kids need to be educated on the legal drugs that are far more dangerous...giving them false information isn't really helpful. -

Your statement about pot making kids lethargic and not caring of their grades isn't true at all.... My sister has smoked for about two years now (my mom and step dad know and join her, as have I) she graduated from high school Tuesday with honors as well as completed her first year of college while going to high school, he played sports and won awards and isn't a "basement dwelling loser".
There is such a stereotype around people who smoke pot! Dh and I smoke regularly, we work full time if not more, make good money, have nice things, take care of our children the way they need to be.... We are my bad people or any less a functioning member of society because we smoke pot. The family members that know we do smoke don't bat an eyelash at it! We're good parents and good people. Pot isn't a gateway drug either, it has the complete opposite affect on people that other drugs do so someone who likes how pot makes them feel isn't going to want to be cracked out and up for days! Nobody laces pot with coke or pcp and if you actually look back, pot (before it was illegalized) was used by doctors for depression, pain management, sleep disorders, sedatives as well as other things....
Seriously, people need to research cannabis sativa, what the pot plant is a derivative of and learn about what they are going to preach before he preach it. I don't see why people think it's such a "bad drug" there are far large battles to be fighting like the uprise of Molly, research that drug... Uncut, pure x..... It's far worse than weed.
If I found pot in my sons drawer (when e is old enough, he's three now) I would ask what he knew about it and why he had it. If he told me he has smoked it I will have a talk that it is ok to do this in our home but once he is stoned l, he stays. Same as my parents did to me with pot and drinking.... -
Review what's in your medicine cabinet before you come down too hard on a teen for smoking weed. It may not be legal... but its less harmful than most of the scrips I hear a lot of moms are taking. Id be counting my pills before id send my teen to rehab for weed. I smoked a little... and id probably do it now except I don't need to end up in jail. Legalize it and tax it and move on!
-
I smoke pot; yes I do it responsibly, but I still smoke it, and I'll tell you it makes schoolwork WAY easier! It helps me focus, and relax, huge bonus' when you're looking at writing a long essay that's worth a third of your mark.Teens and pot: I smoked pot when I was 13, only once or twice, and then I didn't pick it up again until second year of University. I also have never tried anything else except shrooms once, and hash once, both were way too hard for me to ever even consider trying again. It's not a gateway drug, and if you're honest and open with your children about it, it will make it a lot more likely that they'll come to you to talk about something more serious like cocaine, or e.And I agree with @Demanda, no drug dealer is going to lace pot with more expensive drugs. Most pot dealers I know only sell pot because once you get into selling the other drugs the entire process gets way more dangerous.Back to the confession; I love this confession. I dream of the day I find pot in Rylee's room, free pot? yes please! lol. Seriously though, my husband and I have already discussed this; we will be open with Rylee about drugs, and the dangers that come with it. We won't hide that we smoke it, the same way we won't hide that we drink. We hope to teach Rylee that you can consume these things in moderation, and be responsible about it.
-
It scares me that people act like marijuana is harmless when it's not. It doesn't actually make school work easier, you just think it does. The random stories of "so and so graduated at top of their class and smoked pot all the time" are rarely true. There is actually quite a bit of pot that is laced with stuff. It's usually the people who smoke it that will say these things, and act as if they are true, maybe to justify what they are doing, I'm not sure. I smoked pot for about 8 years straight. I did nothing with my life, and most of the people I know who are still doing it, are still doing nothing with their lives. It's considered a gateway drug because it's not as expensive, easier to get hands on and people act like its not a big deal, so it's ok or expected for kids to do it. Personally, I think writing an essay would go a lot easier, and be a lot better if a person were not high.
-
LOL - I will agree with you there, @OtakuHime that it doesn't help schoolwork...not for me anyway. I have classmates now who do it and it blows me away, I couldn't! I started in high school, I still pulled off honour roll, but I didn't care about anything... for years. I do blame my pot habit for me not getting my shit really together until age 30. I'd still prefer the kids not do it, ever, just because I want them to grow up super healthy and better than me in every way. But if they do, I do hope that's as hard as they get.I don't know anyone, though, who currently smokes and is doing nothing with their life. When we were younger, yes, but I guess now that I'm in my mid-30s everyone seems to have outgrown the chronic phase, ya know? The people I can think of like that and there's only a few, tend to be heavy drinkers or into pills instead.
-
@OtakuHime I'm not condoneing pot use, but I do agree that of all the drugs (prescription & street) its definitely not the worst out there.
I know plenty of people who smoke pot, and they're all across the board when it comes to productivity/usefulness of their lives.
As far as I'm concerned, the parents who posted this original confession were likely making light of the situation as it could have been so muh worse.
-
LOL! my hubby smokes pot and he is FAR from a "basement dwelling loser". Yikes @OtakuHime way to be hasty in your judgement.
-
Different react differently to substances, so you might have gone nowhere with your life while you were smoking and for that I am truly sorry but that doesn't mean that everyone is like that.... I wouldnt say i am in any way addicted to it as i can go weeks without amoking it but on the nights i do, i am relaxed and calm and am able to look at my house that needs to be cleaned in segments rather than one overwhelming task that has to get done. My dad, for example used to smoke daily and enjoyed it, while he was smoking he climbed the cooperate ladder and now is one of the highest grossing electrical designers for the company he works for and Brings home 200,000+ a year If that's going nowhere, I would go nowhere any day of my life!
We buy ours from someone we know and trust and have never had it laced with anything.
Some people are lazy when they smoke, some people aren't. But just because you had that experience with it doesn't mean you can label everyone who smokes the same as you.
It's the same as saying that people who take perscription pills are addicts because you became addicted one you were taking.
And how is it a gateway drug of its easy to get and cheap? People who are used to paying for pot aren't jut gonna up and say "huh, I would like to switch to a different drug that has the complete opposite affect and cost 3 times more than pot! Yup, sounds like a plan!" I really think, again, you need to do your research before being so hast to judge people based on the way pot "ruined" your life. -
I'm going to jump in here real quick & then jump back out...
For the record, I DON'T smoke weed. Nobody that I am close to smokes it anymore. I know some people that would turn into complete morons when they smoked. And then I know other people (adults) with ADHD and they smoke a little to calm their brains so they can get stuff done. It truly does help them focus. They figure it is better to take a naturally occuring substance for their problems rather than a prescription pill, plus it is cheaper. I think the issue behind the "basement dwelling loser" is a personality thing rather than a pot thing because there sure are plenty of them that don't smoke. And IMO, weed isn't a gateway drug. It just isn't. -

Not a pot smoker...never have been, not interested. That being said, no one is going to waste good profit margin on lacing pot with anything. Unless they are intentionally trying to kill off their customer base, no one is going to waste coke or anything else in lacing pot.
I'm as sexy as a burp mid-kiss. Watch out! -
As most of you already know, my Ds smokes pot and it makes him soooo much easier to be around. He has ADHD and anxiety/anger issues. I wish it was legal so we could all use it as needed. BTW, I laughed my ass off at the confession even though Ive never smoked it in my life.Stay away from my chocolate and nobody gets hurt!
I think I like who I am becoming... -
I haven't smoked pot in almost 18 years, I remember it made me laugh a lot and get really hungry, I don't remember it making me lazy. I remember walking around with my friends after getting high and laughing a lot. Maybe it wasn't exactly ambitious and we weren't setting the world on fire, but we were out and about, not sitting at home. Some people do get lazy, my xh smoked during our marriage and he spent a lot of time on the couch staring at the tv. So I really think it depends on the person.
I live in an area where pot is very common. It always has been. I know and see a lot of growers. I can't imagine any of them lacing their pot with anything. It would affect the profits and also would affect their clients, and pot is all about the money for growers. People may lace it in other areas, I have no idea, I just can't imagine this being very good business for most of them.
My mom would have killed me if she had ever found any marijuana on me. I had to be super sneaky and make sure I was out of the house for hours before I smoked. I laughed so hard reading this confession, I wonder what I'll do when I find my dd stash?
-
@missmamma5 I didn't call anyone a "basement dwelling loser", it was actually Purple_Crush who said that, and the people I used to smoke pot with over 4 years ago are still sitting in their houses smoking pot and whining about not having money to do anything. @misstressheidi707 The pot now is more potent then it was then. I guess I've just known some really bad people, because they would add whatever they could to the pot themake it "fun"
-
@OtakuHime I guess that could be. I haven't smoked in so long I have no idea what's really out there any more. I just find it hard to believe that people would do that. I don't remember ever running into that when I was younger. Like I said, last time I smoked was 18 years ago or so.
Yes some people do nothing with their life when they smoke pot, my xh is a prime example of this. but my xh also used pot to come down off of other drugs, so I don't think pot was his main issue. When he only smoked pot and was off of the other drugs he actually held a job and only smoked on the weekends and a bit after work.
I grew up around pot, I knew people who grew it way before the 215 law came into effect and now that it's here I know a ton of people who grow it. I also know a lot of people who smoke it, and are productive, have jobs etc... I probably have really relaxed views on marijuana because of the area I live in. It's pretty much as common as water here. It's not unusual to see people walking down the road smoking joints, and conversations about the best way to grow and best soil and things are fairly common too. I'm probably not impartial enough for this conversation. I really do feel like marijuana is not as bad as so many people think it is.
-
@mistressheidi707, I don't think it's as bad as people think, either. It's been demonized a lot, but there's also a great deal of research that shows benefits as well. As a matter of fact, the main danger with smoking pot is the carcinogens in the smoke. If it's vaporized, there's virtually no danger. For the vast majority of medical users, it has been shown to lower blood pressure, relieve headaches and nausea, increases appetites of those with HIV and who undergo chemo for cancer, and very recently has been shown to be beneficial to those suffering MS. Now, I realize that not everyone who smokes (like me) have medical problems. But it's benefits are there, nonetheless, and though cognitive abilities can be decreased temporarily, it's not a drug that most will find themselves battling an addiction to after a period of time.
@OtakuHime, I totally get what you're saying about the drug being laced. It happens, but it's not ususally the dealer that laces it. I had an ex that laced a joint with cocaine once and didn't tell me until I started feeling bad. He was a fucking jerk. Most people that smoke pot aren't into other harder drugs because the desired effect of pot is relaxation. Cocaine, PCP, crack, heroin, meth, and ecstasy have very different effects compared to pot, and far more extreme addictions occur with those drugs than pot as well.
Obviously there are potheads out there who fit the stereotype of the lazy, useless stoner, but most people I know that smoke are very productive, active members of society. My dad smoked for years. He was a chairman of the board at our local hospital, active in several community organizations, and took care of everyday responsibilities. I just personally hope that if my kids make that choice that I can have an open and honest talk about it. Does it make you care less, usually. Will it be your undoing as a responsible contributing member of society? Only if you let it. At least with pot, the choice is there. There are many drugs, legal ones included, that hold a much higher propensity toward addiction. I guess what I'm saying is, there are far worse things for me to worry about when it comes to my kids than smoking a little pot.

Thanks @katz_meow! I feel kinda strongly on this topic. I've been chastised way too much for being a smoker.

@Grits great post!My dad smoked pot up unti the early 90s, he's a lawyer. My GPA is very strong, I smoke pot. My husband's GPA is strong, and he works a full time job, he smokes pot. Are there people who are lazy when they smoke pot? Yup! But those people would probably be lazy regardless of whether or not they smoked pot. They're not bored and lazy because they smoke pot, they smoke pot because they're bored and lazy.
-
@CanadianMama YES!! That's it exactly!

Most students leave high school having experimented with something- for many it is either OTC drugs, or prescriptions not belonging to them (especially adderall or the like for high achievers). I'm more afraid of prescription pain killers or stimulants than pot and I have done extrensive research.
For those who question the efficacy of those who smoke pot, all I can say is that almost evey president, CEO , genius has smoked. Most students at the top universities at least experiment with it, and it is no more problematic than a glass of wine or two when used responsibly. -
@Chocoholic Would you care to put up some links to prove that every high achiever smokes pot? That's a pretty broad statement there.I avoided this topic because I'm not a fan. Not that I wanna delve into the ins and outs of the legalities of ingesting pot, I think responsible adults should have the freedom to decide for themselves. Adults. I tell my kids that when they are legally mature to make those kinds of decisions, and take that responsibility, then they can do so. Until then, they are a child in my house, and if I find anything, liquor, cigarettes, pot, whathaveyou, I will destroy it in front of them. When you are legally and financially independent, you can do whatever you want, and god bless your soul. Until then, I will do my best to teach my kids that drugs meddle with your body in both good ways and bad, and that the way to good health is to simply not do them.See ya in another life, sister!
-
@curious I didn't say every one did, I said many- i should have clarified that to say post-Vietnam era people, and yes when I get home I will post linking that the last 3 presidents of the US have smoked, and leaders in most industries (especially technology- Steve Jobs, Mark Zuckerburg etc). I also know from personal experience that the majority of people at the top schools in our county do at least experiment with marijuana.
-
Actually, I would concur that a lot of tech people smoke, but I wonder if that's a regional thing. One of my exes was a computer dude in Santa Cruz, and his friends were all highly paid computer engineers, and it was commonplace to light up in the evenings.See ya in another life, sister!
-
I'm right there with you @Grits. My DD's bio dad had a huge problem with my smoking, but wouldn't ever give me a reason except that it's "illegal for a reason"
I smoke daily, and I'm a manager. DH smokes daily, and he works 2 jobs. My sister, also a daily smoker, and she's a banking exec. My brother-in-law is a heavy equipment operator, so he can't, but in the past when he was in demo (his OWN business) he smoked daily. All of us are moderately successful in general, and all of us would be considered "productive members of society" None of us could ever be considered lazy basement dwellers.
Also would like to add, over the MANY years I've smoked, I've bought pot from many different people. Most were trusted sources, some were not, and I have never had anyone lace pot with anything.
Judgement comes in many forms but never scarce or shy -
And I have to say I agree 10000% with @CanadianMama's post
Are there people who are lazy when they smoke pot? Yup! But those people
would probably be lazy regardless of whether or not they smoked pot.
They're not bored and lazy because they smoke pot, they smoke pot
because they're bored and lazy.

Of course there are worse drugs than marijuana. I'm not saying there aren't. I'm saying marijuana shouldn't be treated lightly. I've heard of doctors prescribing medical marijuana because a 13 year old kid couldn't sleep. Yes I believe their are medical advantages. I also think that people will make bad choices because they know better. I can just hope that someone who spends their apparently successful lives high, don't drive a vehicle near me or my children.
-
"apparently successful lives"? What's apparent about being a multi millionaire or a bank exec, a tech manager or a Hugh end electrical engineer? That IS success, nothing apparent about it.
And about the driving next to you and your kids part? Better look at everyone you pass because 90% or more of society is hyped on some prescribed drug, most of which say "may cause drowsiness" on the side of the bottle because they whine to their western medicine doctor, their doc sees $$ and scribbles on some blue pad or presses a few buttons on the keyboard of his computer.
My aunt was t boned by a man that was on ambian and some other pain pills, he ran a stop sign doing 70 and rolled her suv 9 times into a field leaving her in a coma for three months. Those drugs are far more dangerous that weed but their better in your eyes because they came from a doctor? Looks at what goes into making prescritpion pills!
I don't know what your basing your judgement on but from your previous posts it sounds like its coming from the lack of motivation that you once had in your life causing it to go nowhere, was being nice at first but, sorry to say, it had nothing to do with weed. You do what you set your mind to, high or not. If your life went nowhere its because you chose that path. -
I smoked pot and I graduated at the top of my class. I was baked pretty much daily from tenth grade on. My geeky school friends were always surprised to find out I was a stoner, and my stoner friends were surprised to find out I did well in school. I don't smoke anymore, and haven't for about two years now, one day it just started making me feel paranoid, and I didn't like it anymore, but DH still smokes daily.
I did get a laced batch once, as a party favour when I was in college. DH and I smoked it later, and I got sooooo sick! I pretty much just puked for a few hours. Knocked my ass out. I dunno what the fuck was in it though.
My parents also smoked, but I didn't know it until after I had already started myself and could recognize the smell every now and then.
My brother smoked, and he is now a cop. My other brother also smoked, and he is now an alcoholic. Hmmm... The only one who didn't was my sister, she was a high school drinker instead, now she is a nurse.
I did do some experimenting with harder stuff back when I was in university (the first time), but never to the point of an addiction, we just lived a party kind of lifestyle for a few years, and I am the sort who thinks I should try everything at least once. Much of it was fun, but coke is a waste of money, made my face tingly and made me really talkative for about 20 minutes.
-
Wait a second....no one here said all drugs are good. We are merely stating that pot isn't necessarily bad for all users. And we gave examples. Also I fail to see where your criticism @OtakuHime is in support of the confessionJudgement comes in many forms but never scarce or shy
-
Pot is similar to alcohol. Some people can drink/smoke and have a good time, some people get depressed. Some people want to add on to smoking pot w cocaine n all the other stuff out there. Just like people who drink. It's different to everybody. I remember when I was young (summer of 6th grade :O I smoked for the 1st time. It was great! We laughed and laughed, ate and ate. By 20, I was so over it. I wasn't laughing or happy at all by then, so I stopped. I'm not innocent, but I will not be ok with my kids doing it! Once they are out of my house, they can do as they please.
-
@OtakuHime, I totally agree with you. I do not condone drug use of any kind. I also don't think it should be legal, ever. I would loose my mind if I found out my kid was smoking it. I'm talking about when they're kids, which is until they've graduated high school. Now, when they're in college, I'm sure they'll be smoking it... DUH (although, I hope not), but as long as they're grades are up, and not driving while high, then so be it. I'm not ok with underage drinking, and I'm definitely not ok with this.
-
Found my kids stash last year ( she was 17 at the time ). Smoked it. Made sure she smelled it. what was she going to do, come ask me if I took her weed ? And she knew she couldnt do that and she knew I was fucking with her and she was PISSED. I spent the evening baked, laughing my ass off at her slamming doors and bitching on the phone with her friends. I smoke, my mom smokes, my whole family smokes. I have no problem with it at all. I taught my kid not to get behind the wheel under the influence of ANYTHING or be a passenger of anyone under the influence of anything. I never believed in teaching her that pot, alcohol and heroin are the same thing. Because one day she would grow up, realize that was bullshit and it would invalidate what I'd said about a lot of harmful stuff. I personally would rather her smoke pot than do beer bongs.
