How would you use $3500?

I have lots of credit card debt and medical bills and I need a car but I would undoubtedly get my teeth fixed. I have had to have 14 pulled because I couldn't afford to fix them. I am lucky that none of them are front teeth but it makes me sooooo self concious. Not to mention the ones I still have are in horrible shape.

@irishlass I understand the checkout anxiety! I'm always afraid I've added wrong and I'm going to be embarassed and have to put something back. When DH and I dream about what we are going to be able to do once I am done school and working, buying whatever we want at the grocery store without having to count is way up there on the list. A backyard with a fence and a barbecue is my favorite dream :)

I would finally be able to get myself and the three kiddos away from my crazy STBXH. Deposit and 1st months rent, set up utilities, and some used furniture. Living in this house with all the fighting and tension has been the worst. I didn't realize you could grow to hate a man you made babies with so much. $3,500 would mean a fresh start.

Wow with that much right now I'd pay ahead on bills, electric alone is $300 a month, umm fix my car...again, grrr, buy all the kids new shoes and clothes, and maybe get myself some new underwear and a new bra. Get DH some new underwear as well as some new pants, and put the rest into paying off some of our credit debt.

If it came floating to me from the universe I would use it to purchase security software for the clients we would be serving with our nonprofit computer geek business. That would give 35 people virus and spyware protection.

I would replace the gross toilet in the RV.

I would not pay off bills. (it's a fantasy right?)

First, I would definitely fix the A/C in my van.  It is miserable without it!  I feel so bad putting two toddlers in the van when it is 90 degrees outside.  Even with the windows down, it is still sticky!

Put it towards lawyer fees so we can go to court and make them let us see my bonus kids. It's been almost a year and we miss them like crazy.

wow if I had 3500 to spend, first and foremost Id use it to have surgeries medicaid wont cover so i cld feel remotely normal.. ie i need a few tumors removed tht are painful and are on the surface of my skin( I have neurofibromatosis) and medicaid refuses to remove them since its consider cosmetic surgery.. also i wld use it for my nasal surgery.. medicaid will cover the sinus surgery but not the cosmetic part even if it helps me breathe better... its a suck situation when you have a health issue and need surgery and medicaid wont pay for it unless its life threatening.. I guess I can live with a deviated septum

If I was lucky enough to get that amount of money I would spend it on living expenses. I am currently unemployed and barely making it day to day and I have ran out if items to pawn....I owe day care for 3 weeks and I have no clue how I am going to get to school now...but no matter what my circumstances are I'm not letting it affect me so my son doesn't get upset...I pray everyday that it will be better tomorrow

Headstart on paying Manchild's dr bill. I am sure 5 days in the Trauma Unit adds up. Fix my car (lawn ornament). Pay it forward to the Ronald McDonald house. Take care of anything unexpected for Adams rehabilitation and therapy.

    Buy a pair of jeans.

I didn't even think of medical stuff. I would go and see the fertility specialist that comes to town. He's $180 per appointment and Medicare doesn't cover any of it.

Sorry that so many of us have dental issues.  Sad how it's looked upon as cosmetic. :(  I feel less alone though regarding my own screwed up teeth!  Last time I went to a community clinic, sliding scale, and paid $40 for them to pull a tooth which is really cheap, but the dentist lectured me on fixing it instead of pulling it.  Duh, asshole, why do you think I'm at the sliding scale, no insurance place in the first place? $$$$

I'd get my bills (car payment, car insurance, electric, cable, phone, last credit card) completely caught up and pay off my debt to welfare ($1K) so they can be completely out of the picture. All in all that would leave me with about $500-800. I'd stock the house in groceries. Get gas. Then I'd buy the kids the clothes/shoes etc they need. After that, maybe husband and I would go out to dinner. That's about it.

@RonansMum I am sorry about your baby. I know how much it hurts not to have a marker. Hopefully we will get DDs paid off soon and they can put it up. It's been over a year.

I would pay off dh's friggin expensive ass Snap-on (damn toolbox)
Pay off dh's credit card, and loan (only about 300 left)
Pay off my furniture financing. (1500)
And use the rest to redo the porch on the house we just bought.

@lesbomom that's for the conversion!! Hmm then I would change my locks, buy myself a pair of shoes that doesn't fuck up my feet. Then learn to drive. I could get a reeeally cheap car too maybe. I would see if my parents could give me money for xmas to get a car then I could be totally independant :) orr I might use some of it to pay a childminder so I can study properly until my courses are finished in july.

$3500 would be a wonderful thing! I would put part of it towards my daughters braces. My co-pay for her braces is about $4500. I have to come up with the first thousand by October or I have to pay the initial screening fee of $300 all over again. After that I would put the rest towards fixing my car or getting a cheap used car. My car is on it's last legs. About a year ago my car literally caught on fire. (there was some type of wiring issue.) I scrimped and saved and manged to throw $1000 towards fixing the burnt issue, but now the transmission is going and that is money I don't have. My plan right now is to drive it till I blow it up, then worry about not having a car.

@ronansmum and @momofdbb I'm very sorry for your loss.

@LesboMom We have picked one out ( my exh and I ). We want one that shows her and what she was like. So we chose a portrate piece , it will be a brass portrate collage. With 7 or so pictures of her. XH is paying for it, hey he won't pay child support I am thinking he can pay for this, and I don't have the money. It is 3,000. I know it will take a while to get it but I know it's on the way. Till then my uncle made a steel one, he welds and cuts steel. So he cut her name out of steel , then painted it .

Being all...willfully unemployed has cut severely into my spending money, so I'd buy my golf membership, pay off my cart shed rental ($700), buy a bunch of groceries, all the stuff I like to get (My dh buys us stuff, but you know how men are with buying the right brands), and get my oldest some summer clothes, since apparently she grew out of her last year's. I really don't need money, it's just...nice to have.

I just messaged one SM about this but since there seem to be more people with dental problems I'll repost it here:

Go to www.ada.org and get the list of dental schools.  NOT assistant or hygiene schools.  The students work on real patients so they do the work cheap(er).  The work takes longer & it is done by a student but they are closely supervised.  They have to do a good job because their grades depend on it!

Yeah, I've been in dentistry my whole life so if any of you have any dental issues I'm your girl   :-c

I hope this helps some of you!  Good luck!

Oh and I would use that $ to catch up on the mortgage.  When we moved to Florida I had to retake 4 exams to get my dental hygiene license down here even though I'm already licensed in RI & MA.  I've taken 3 out of the 4 so I'm almost there :) I've been doing sales in the meantime which doesn't pay well in this economy when no one can afford to buy anything!

I'd have to send part of it to Ronansmum. (My cousin recently passed and I've watched my aunt go through what no mother ever should.) Then i'd buy a van...I already know which one..

I would pay for my UK citizenship, and then go back to the US to see my family. There are so many health problems, and I haven't seen them in two years. My grandfather has Alzheimers, so we don't know how long he's got before his memory is gone. He's only met my son once.

Oh I have TOTALLY changed my mind! Am I allowed to do that!?

I would enroll Benji in martial arts classes. I would pay to have his iq tested.
I would buy myself one pair of jeans that fit.
I would also change my locks and learn to drive.

Just me, Dh, Kids and whatever they wanted to do. (as long as it involves waterparks.)

I really need a freezer and blinds for my house... but I would still use it for a vacation >:)
