In case you’ve forgotten that women are beyond amazing, let us introduce you to a new mom who finished her finals while giving birth. Nayzia Thomas gave birth to a healthy baby boy, but first, she needed to complete her college exams for the semester.

Her mom took a photo of her working on her finals while laid up in a hospital bed, in labor. Thomas tweeted the image where it quickly went viral.

“My mom took this pic & it’s the perfect explanation of my life. Yes, I’m about to have a baby, but final SZN ain’t over yet.” Thomas is a sophomore at Johnson County Community College in Kansas City, Mo., where she studies psychology. In the photo, she’s working on her major’s final on dissociative identity disorder.

“It wasn’t due until the end of the week but my goal was to try to have everything done before,” she told Yahoo Lifestyle. “[I thought] ‘before all this gets crazy let me hurry up and finish this final.'” Thomas kept attending classes until she was 39 weeks pregnant and had planned to finish all of her exams before going into labor, but her bundle of joy decided to show up a bit early.

All of her hard work paid off. Thomas delivered her baby and finished the semester with a 3.5 GPA. “On 12/12/17 we had a healthy baby boy. However, I experienced major blood loss & my body went into shock post-delivery,” she tweeted with the above photo. “It was very scary, but his father was right there to take over when I went unconscious. We are blessed!” Thanks to a blood transfusion the new mom is doing well.

Thomas tells Scary Mommy, “I luckily only [have] one more final to attend to after my actual delivery. As of now, all of my attention is directed to my lovely son. I am excited to continue the school year for the spring semester!”

Obviously, school is very important to Thomas, who was working three jobs and taking summer classes when she found out she was pregnant. “I didn’t want [the pregnancy] to be in the way,” she explained. “That’s what people expect. You’re a teen mom, you’re a young mother. That’s why my mom took that picture. It shows [I] follow through.” Talk about setting a good example for her new baby. Thomas went way beyond in the effort department than most college students. I didn’t want to take my college exams ever let alone during labor. Her tweets went viral because how could someone not take a minute to praise this young woman’s drive?

She also got a reply from a mom who can definitely relate.

And, of course, she had some excellent advice for other parents in her position. She tells us, “Keep going despite any doubt or fears! In school find a motivation that is deeper than having ‘good grades,’ make your reason for success meaningful to you.”
