A look back at Benji’s early years, as we get ready to celebrate his third birthday on Saturday…
(P.S. I’m taking my baby to have his tonsils and adenoids removed next Wednesday. Happy birthday, little guy. I stumbled upon this post and am now scared shitless. Has anyone gone through this? Any tips for him? Me?

Very cute!! Love the show!
Bram had his tonsils and adnoids out last August. TOTAL piece of cake. Promise you. I was a wreck but he was fine.
My only problem was, you are supposed to keep them still for several days. Ummmmmmm, it was impossible. Even Tylenol with codeine didn’t seem to keep him down.
Ben will be fine, so easy. Just don’t go online and research!!
Cute post. Happy Birthday Ben!
I love all your picture videos they are so cute.
As for the post you read, it is just one persons account. I have never dealt with this personally but I am sure all things will be fine. It is not going to be rose but I am sure it won’t be terrible.
Nothing says Happy Birthday like tonsil removal.
I’ve known several kids that have had this done…have lots of popsicles, I am sure it will go fine!
He’s a cutie, love the photo montage!
Thanks for sharing this! What an adorable video and an adorable boy! Happy birthday to Ben!
I have no experience with tonsils and adenoid removal with my own kids, but mine were removed at age 3, as well, and I don’t remember a thing! Good luck!
So stinking cute! Your children really are BEAUTIFUL!!!
Damn you!! You have to stop making me cry at work.
I loved the music along with the video, just like last time. So cute! And he’s got some big beautiful blue eyes there.
oh that was so lovely!!
my niece had that surgery- she’s awesome today!
Happy birthday to your big boy! Great video!
My brother had this done but he was about eight years old- back then they would not do this surgery on babies…It is not a piece of cake, unless they have developed some miracle way of doing it now. Ben is too young is my thinking…I would be worried about the anesthesia as well.
when my son had this done…..easy not problems….other than he would not set down and rest…..he acted as if nothing had happened!!!!
make sure he drinks alot of liquids!!!!
we gave out pennies everytime he took a drink.
hang in there…i know i was a wreck too!!!!!
Happy Birthday Ben.
Elizabeth had a tonsilectomy, she was four and a half and she did have some pain but it was very managable and after a week she was better than she had ever been. Her tonsils used to fall into the back of her throat when she was asleep and stop her breathing, they were so big. She was always ill, didn’t eat and was soooo under weight but now she is 100% better.
Well worth the worry!
I’m sure Ben (and you) will be just fine.
Hugs, xxx
Hope everything goes smoothly for the little guy next week! My son just today had a surgery, but he’s 11, so it’s a different story.
He just has THE BEST smile!
These videos always make me tear up. Beautiful!
Because we just went through this with my six year old I will have to say…
As long as we gave him his medicine every 4 hours the kids was fine…in fact more than fine.
It was sad to see him after surgery so drowsy and out of it…and then right when he rolled into recovery he threw up…but just that one time, and the doctor said it was normal because some times blood gets down in the stomach during surgery.
We didn’t have any problems with him taking the medicine…we usually had drink or something to give him right after he took it and he seemed fine.
We had him eat cool mashed potatoes, jello, pudding, and sherbet because ice cream and milk sometimes make their throats all phlemy and it takes longer to heal…supposedly…but I didn’t take the chance!
After a few days we started feeding him like mac and cheese and scrambled eggs.
Really though, we made him drink as much water as he would…I think that helped.
The only REAL problem we had with him was one night he woke up with his throat hurting really bad…we got the medicine down him, tried to distract him with his favorite movie…about 15 minutes later he was fine and we put him back to sleep.
Anyway…our experience was not as bad as that families…it was just fine and he bounced back really fast.
We asked a lot of questions and told the Doctor to tell us everything we needed to know.
Our surgery was about 40 minutes and we stayed in recovery for an hour…then they let us take him home.
There you go!
Such a sweet show! One to be treasured forever!! What beautiful kids!!
Awwwww…what a sweet video! I am sure his procedure will go smoothly!
Momma you are worrying too much– you can’t do that. Almost all tonsil procedures are a piece of cake. If you stress too much he will too. Everything is going to be fine, fine, fine. Just make there is enough of his favorite ice cream, ice cream pops, frozen whatever-thingee-ma-dingees at home.
Man, I did this sort of thing earlier this week. I found pictures of my 8 and 5 year old at 2 and newborn. Whaaaaaaaaaa!!!! Where’s my babies???
I had my tonsils out at 13, and I hate to tell you IT HURT. I remeber crying when I woke up in recovery becasue my throat hurt so bad, the good news it didn’t last very long (like 24 hrs)
My little guy had tonsils, adenoids and tubes when he was 4. We probably waited longer than we should have, being worried about every side effect imaginable. We have absolutely no regrets. He did great. It was absolutely the correct decision. Stock up on popsickle varieties and you’ll all do fine.
So sweet! What a wonderful montage!
Happy Birthday Benji!
Happy Birthday Ben! He’s got the cutest smile.
Great photos! Time really flies, these kids are getting so big!
Good luck with the surgery, that’s always scary for parents to see little kids go through…
happy early birthday big boy!!!!
This is a very painful operation. You should keep your baby in the same room where you are (or in the same bed), as he will be in major pain and also will probably throw up a bunch of times. Somehow you have to get him to drink so that he won’t become dehydrated. Watch closely, it will take a week or two for him to feel truly ok.
Early birthday wishes to Ben!
I’ve not had to deal with either of my kids needing their tonsils removed… I still have mine, in fact! I hope it all goes well. Like someone else said, the post you read was just one person’s account and not necessarily what will happen for Ben.
Wow..lovely baby, so cute. My youngest daughter’s birthday is on Saturday too ^^
So cute…I am sorry he needs surgery…I will think of both of you! God bless!
awwwww….I love him! what a sweetie! Poor little boy having to get his tonsils out. He’ll totally be ok. Lots and lots and lots of cuddles and ICE CREAM!!!
Hope he has a great bday.
My hubs had the surgery done about two years ago. Luckily, they say kids bounce back fairly quickly.
Loved the photos of Ben! I hope he has a fabulous birthday tomorrow.
If you need any help next week then please dont hesitate to call or e-mail…seriously. Just remember that I am only an hour away :-)
Such a sweet video.
Happy Birthday Big Boy.
Adorable little guy!
Will had the works done at 3 and a half. He did have some pain on waking but as long as I kept up the painkillers he was fine. He was sat up eating crisps in bed about 15 hours after surgery! We have never looked back.
That was a beautiful video. Your family is gorgeous. My 6 year old had her adnoids and tonsils out a year and a half ago: Just be prepared to cry when they wheel him away, and really only the first couple days are rough. Make sure you give them the pain medication exactly when needed and stock up on popsicles and icecream or whatever is his favorite. My little girls sleeps like a baby now and is amazingly healthier than ever before. Good luck and I’m sending my prayers.

He is so cute! Happy birthday!
Oh, how adorable! Happy birthday!
What a wonderful photo montage. Happy Birthday, Benji! :)
My friend’s son (Ben!) had his out, and she was struck with the how upset he was when he threw up after surgery. Apparently it often happens, blood gets into the stomach. Throwing up blood is NOT FUN and is SCARY so be there with a dark-coloured container to catch it and hide it away. Several containers, even. And some red or multi-coloured hand towels for wiping up. He doesn’t need to see blood, poor guy. Good luck! I bet you will be glad when it’s over, and he will bounce back and be better than ever.
Oh no! Poor guy. We’ve never been through it and with anysurgery there is risk but so many of these procedures go well. Focus on that. Easier said than done right?
I say this often, but thank you for letting me escape in your world. That was a great video, and song!
Feisty
great video! do you get choked up just watching that?
Awwww, what a cutie.
My little one (2 at the time) had his tonsils out last year. We had two days of being miserable, and eating only chocolate ice cream or jelly, but besides that it was fine. Not scary at all.
Thinking of you both.
Hey SM! Long time no chat. Sorry to hear that your little man will have to have his tonsils and adenoids done.
I was about six when I had mine done. I remember that it sucked b/c everyone told me I could have all of the ice cream I would care to eat. Wouldn’t you know it, I didn’t want a thing to do with it after my surgery. I remember it being a tough couple days after surgery, but I was soon back in school and had put it behind me.
The beauty of getting it done at this age is that he will have few memories of the unpleasantness. It will definitely both you more than him.
I hope that both of you recover quickly. :)
Hello, and sorry for my mind. Stories like yours certainly motivate me to keep going & make me realise what’s possible canine and So it goes. canine and, KEEP IT UP…
