I remember the moment quite vividly that Lily looked like a kid to me, rather than a little girl. It was heartbreaking and exciting at once. My Benji seems to be approaching that line rapidly. He’s getting to be so strong willed and independent and I’m just not ready for him to grow up so quickly.
Fortunately, he still sleeps on my floor every night and poops in a diaper. I think I have a good few months left until he fully transitions into a big boy, and I’m in no rush. Well, except for the poop part.

I am hanging on to baby Kainoa with everything I’ve got. I know he’s my last baby and I refuse to let him grow up.
Benji DEFINITELY is looking like a little boy in that picture! How old is he again?

One day, my 10-year-old woke up and NOTHING FIT. Not her school uniform, not even her SHOES that she had worn the day before. It was insanity. She’s been on a strict diet of soda, cake and candy only, no veggies, milk or vitamins, ever since, in order to ebb the growing.

The worst part of being a mom is our greatest chore…helping them to not need us anymore:-)

My oldest is nine, but I still get the glimpse into the near future of her teen years. It seems just like yesterday she was itty bitty, needing me..for everything.
It’s the same with my one year old, too. I can’t wrap my brain around how, in just 365 days, she has transformed into this adorable, busy, intuitive toddler, when only days ago…she was brand new.
Instead of an easy button…I need a pause button.
Being a KID has its perks too… like oversized backpacks on small bodies… that is cute.

I have been having these same feelings about my three. They are just so big. I just wish it would slow down. And being away this weekend, didn’t help. I swear the grew more while I was gone.
You have inspired me with this post. Thanks.
He is just precious. Looks so much like Lily.
They grow up soooo fast.
I know the feeling all too well. I don’t miss the poop and wiping part, especially once it started to smell, but I miss the age. Funny how with each milestone you celebrate the newer expanded freedom you gain via their independence, but you mourn for the times when they needed you that much more. Funny balancing act this parenting stuff is, I guess it’s all good so long as they know you are still and forever their best friend!

haha… they really do grow up quick. Too quick. My daughter just started K in August and I still can’t believe it.
I feel the same way about my kids. Of course George pees on the floor and sleeps on top of his diaper (he takes it off at naptime)…

What a CUTIE-PIE :)
Mine is 5 now and I miss the ‘little boy’ who still needed cuddles from his momma. :)

Sometimes I look at Sophie and I see baby, and sometimes I look at her and see a little girl. It’s a strange and heartrending dichotomy.

Yes, I am ready for my little guy to stop all the pooping in all the wrong places too.
There is even a quote about that tomorrow in “Things Kids Say” Thursdays! You should check it out.

I love this photo. I am noticing that the transition from little one to boy is much more pronounced with the boys vs. my girl. It’s bittersweet, isn’t it?

Wow, is it me or is this text really small. I want it to grow up.
Anyway, I hear you. I want Lukas to stay this age for freaking ever. It is so fun. Of course I would not want to age anymore either. Combo deal.

Oh, every time I think of Kaish growing it scares me. It scares this part of me deep inside. I just love that I still know all about his world. The changes happen constantly though, don’t they? Like last week he told me he couldn’t possibly ever take a bath again. “But why” I inquired? “Oh Mom, Joey says only babies take baths. I can never take one again because I am in 4th grade mom. I am almost grown up.” So he is taking showers now. And I am watching my little boy grow up. It makes me cry sometimes Jill. It is happy that they are growing and learning and changing, but so hard too!

I remember the first time I noticed the babyfat leaving my sons face. He was turning into a little boy. I cried for hours. I still look at him some mornings and tell him he’s changed again. It still makes me sad. And yet excited to watch my baby evovle into a boy into a young man. It makes me proud. But still sad too.
