Penelope has always LOVED snow. Before we had children, Jeff and I would spend hours kicking snow piles outside for Penny to dive into. It was an instinctive game for her which she came up with her first winter. She would stand, poised and patient, just waiting to jump right in. For hours. Nothing made her as happy and we were willing to take her out to pee every five minutes afterward due to massive snow consumption during the process. We did anything she wanted back then.

There is little puppy left in our girl these days. She’s been through countless moves, demoted three times due to children, beaten the shit out of three dogs (they totally asked for it. OK, not really…) and had some frightening health scares herself. Most days she seems far older than her eight years, but yesterday, she was a puppy again. And we all loved it.

OH, sweetness! I can’t wait to have a dog again. I miss them so much.

Waiting on all 3 kiddos to be potty trained. So, in about 10 years, we’ll be getting one.

My mon has a Golden and maggie does the same thing with snow. Can’t get her to move unless she sees snow, then LOOK OUT! She will knock you over in a flash. I thought she was mental, maybe it’s the breed.

AWE, sweet post. I can totally relate as I have an old doggie and a new pup in the house. I have also fallen in and out of love with the old one when I had a child and I know what’s bound to happen again.

Aww! That’s super sweet!
We have a dog just like her as far as “family position”, he just turned 8 his face is starting to grey and he is the sweetest dog EVER. And poor guy was our baby he went with us everywhere, we bragged about him and just loved on him all the time. He has been thru 3 kiddo’s and numerous attempts at “buddies” for him. He’s still just as sweet though.

When it snowed here waaaaaay back in 2003, our boxer loved the snow…

I’m not sure if our current pup would like it. Probably not, seeing as how she won’t go outside if it’s raining. And if the wind rustles through the leaves and trees, she freaks out.

Congrats Penny for doing something blog-worthy! haha. I miss her. Stu and Penny have something in common because Stu is the same way with snow. He absolutely loves it. The 9 year old dog becomes a puppy. He wants you to throw snow balls so he can catch them and loves to run and play in the snow for hours. Have not made a snow lover out of Maggie yet though…

So someone told you not to go see Marley and me right? Cuz I didn’t get that memo, and bawled like a sissy.

Just the other day, Spaghetti and I were talking about how much older our Ding is. (she’s 6) Boxers age fast, and average 9-10 years old.

Your dog is beautiful! And yes with two dogs and two cats all being demoted twice with the kids. There is a good fight for attention daily!

Awww – I too love when people gush over their poochers! Don’t believe me? check out my blog – it’s mostly devoted to my poocher! Yes, it’s sad when they start to “grow old” – it seems like it happens all at once too. I just love when they get the puppy energy!! Enjoy your snow days with her! Dogs rule!

I love goldens, they are so sweet… a friend in Ohio has a golden named Daisy and she is the best, sweetest dog! Penelope is so cute, I can just see her, all focused on the snow, kinda like one of my aussies when you have something in your hand to throw. She is a freakin’ statue when she waits for you to throw something, anything! Great pics of Penelope! :-)

you have an adorable dog. btw, i noticed that you call your dog penelope and penny… does she respond to both? the reason i ask is bcs i am getting a dog and was wondering if i name her a long name, but call her by a shorter nickname if she will learn to respond to both?
