Sir Richard Owen

Have you ever heard of Sir Richard Owen?

I hadn’t. Or, maybe I had years ago but like most other information I learned before motherhood, it evaporated from my brain.

But, I digress.

Tonight, my neighbor was over retrieving her daughter from my house. In her arms was her (most adorable) baby boy. Lily peered over him.

He looks just like Sir Richard Owen, she pronounced.

Huh, we asked looking at her?

He looks just like Sir Richard Owen. Look it up on the computer!

So I did.

And he does.

Remarkably.

Lily tells me Sir Richard Owen named the dinosaurs. Wikipedia confirms.

She’s way too smart for me.

No comparison pic of baby in question = FAIL.

Unless Margaret does not consent to baby being on the interwebs. ;-)

HA! That is the best picture EVER. I’ve never heard of the guy, but paleontology looks right up his alley. Go Lily.

That’s awesome. When my son was a baby he looked JUST like Albert Einstein. More than a few people remarked on it. But, Sir Richard Owen? That’s WAY impressive.

I am super impressed and I am RELATED to Richard Owen lol! I have a family who is really into genealogy (it goes beyond a normal hobby since I remember spending my childhood looking over micro-phish to find birth records for my mother and grandmother). This is why I know who is and know he was not taught in school. I had a book about dinosaurs that mentioned him, but most do not.

My grandmother always said each of her children were genuises . . . until they went to school. I remember one of my son’s friends in the first grade able to SPELL all the dinosaur names! Sigh! I wish I was as smart as Lily, too – and had a daughter with her name – that was one of my favorites!
