All day, I long for a few moments of peace and quiet. When I get them, I’m always suspicious– inevitably, someone is up to no good. Traces of evidence can usually be found with some novice detective work: Hand soap poured into the toilet produces a whole lot of bubbles, markers on arms don’t rub off so easily and dirt plus water equals a mess that a toddler just isn’t equipped to cover up.
Today, the evidence of quiet time was found in an unlikely place; right here, on my beloved Mac. Ben was napping and Lily was playing downstairs. I was folding laundry with the baby and noted that I hadn’t heard a peep in a good half hour. Hmmmm. I tip-toed downstairs to find Lily sitting in front of the screen playing with Photo Booth. I’d left it open and the little (Harvard bound) genius figured out how to use it. She had filled the folder with glamour shots of herself, covering every emotion in the book.
Never mind that my computer screen was covered with fingerprints and there was a glob of peanut butter on my mouse. Small price to pay for 30 minutes of quiet time. And I even got pictures to boot? Doesn’t get much better.

Those pics are adorable! What I wouldn’t give for 30 minutes of peace around here any day. My girls are a bit young to be navigating the computer yet, but something I can look forward to.
So adorable! You should print them and put them up in her room. Or save them for prom night in a few years, just to remind her who’s boss.
I am always suspicious of quiet time, and never do I get a treat like this. That is just too darn cute.
How funny! It looks like she thoroughly enjoyed herself!
Wow, it alsways amazes me when me kids out computer me. I know they have in born technology skills.
How do these kids figure it out….it always amazes me…the photos are cute.
What a little cutie! Thanks for the button; you might want to make that title bigger; I almost missed it…
The fact that you used the term glamour shots in this post made my day.
Man, now all you have to do is get her to learn how to scrapbook and your work is done! She can handle the photography and the memory making while you go and have a nice appletini or something.
PS. I have found that baby wipes work magic in getting marker off of skin.
Too funny. I agree with Texan Mama – print them for her room.
Why do our kids insist on showing their aptitude with computers? Mine makes me feel technically inept
She really is a brilliant, little thing.
She did a great job! What good shots
We have fun playing with Photo Booth, too! I really like these photos and the way you’ve framed them. The best way, I’ve found, to get some peace and quiet is to encourage lots and lots of socialization. That way, when they’re out of the house, you can do something for yourself! The trouble with that, though, is that then you need to reciprocate, and you’ll have twice as much noise when the friends pay a visit! BTW, Aunt Julie needs help planning the rehearsal dinner for her son’s wedding, and needs your help. Plus, she’s giving away a complete set of Pop’rs in the bargain-the best way to encourage your family to Eat Their Veggies! Please drop in sometime and check it out!
That is adorable!! Keep those for sure! SO funny!
Oh what a creative little genius you have there!!!
OK, that is really cute. What a smarty. Sneaky, but smart.
I have my laptop on fingerprint lockout security. Because I trust my kids so much.
She impresses me daily with her little brain. She really is scary smart. And she never forgets anything. I’m so in trouble!
The experience made me wish I had a video tape hidden in her room. I’d love to know what she’s actually doing in there for hours at a time! (Actually, on second though, it’s probably better I don’t)
Your little Lily is quite the model/photographer!
That’s really fun. She’s definitely Harvard bound. I don’t know how to use Photobooth.
Those are classic shots. Definitely keep those or frame ‘em!
Silence = trouble.
The kids have Macs in their classroom so my oldest gets on mine and plays with the photo booth and garage band all the time. I love coming to my computer and finding all kinds of masterpieces.
So cute! And YAY for 30 minutes of quiet time!!
Thanks so much for dropping in today! Remember–every comment on a post this week counts as an entry in our Great Pop’rs Giveaway. Hope you drop by again soon!
Too funny
What a personality, and what a face! Adorable.
oh, that’s just awesome
How adorable! Great shots. I agree, put them in her room.
When that kind of quiet strikes at my house? The kids are always in the toilet. ALWAYS! Glad to know eventually they learn to play with other things…
I have, like, literally hundreds of these photos on my photo booth too! lol
It’s a great way for you to get your quiet time and for the kids to have some innocent fun!
Love it! And I love how you posted them. Very cool!
Priceless history! I love when it gets that quiet around here for 2 reasons.
1.) because it's quiet
2.) because usually the reason it's quiet is because someone has been up to no good. The surprise is always something I can look back on & laugh about.
Those are awesome! That she figured out how to use it – well, that's bigger awesomeness.
That’s so awesome!! it’s gotta make you laugh!!
I love it!! Those little brains work a lot better then we think!
That is so awesome. Not that you have fingerprints all over your computer and peanut butter on your mouse, but that your daughter figured out the computer, took pics of herself, and the best part, you got 30 MINUTES to yourself. I cannot remember the last time that happened and both of my kids were awake. If they are that quiet, then I am usually going to find the boy up to no good (you know, throwing all the toothbrushes int he toilet, taking every single tissue out of the box, coloring the table, etc). My 4 yr old daughter is typically pretty good and stays out of trouble.
Too cute! You should have those pics matted and framed just as they are on your blog for her wall. What fun! My dtr is just at the age where if she gets into anything you can count on it being broken within seconds. I look forward to finding such fun pics of her on my camera. Today’s mischief was her picking my faux cranberries off my centerpiece. She came running to me in the bathroom screaming, “MOMMY! THE GRAPES FELL OVER!” Hmmm, I’m sure the “grapes” IE cranberry’s fell over all by themselves. NOT! I have to keep reminding her they aren’t real and you can’t eat them. This was yet another attempt by her to sneak a treat. Silly Girl. I’m going to have to put them up higher aye?!
My little girl loves to take crazy photos — I will have to post some — Love her pictures she is so cute — they keep you on your toes i have a 2 year old and you can’t leave him for one sec. This is my first friday so check me out
PRICELESS!!
That is so funny. She is adorable. I agree with texan mama, print them and put them in her room.
LOL The things they find to do. She’s a cutie pie.
How fun…I’ve seen other blogs with the Photo Booth feature at work and some of the pics are dang hilarious! So cute…and you’re right…anything is worth the 30 minutes of peace and quiet!
Wow…she is a genius! And talented to boot!
I love your proudest parenting moment!
