Strike a Pose

All day, I long for a few moments of peace and quiet. When I get them, I’m always suspicious– inevitably, someone is up to no good. Traces of evidence can usually be found with some novice detective work: Hand soap poured into the toilet produces a whole lot of bubbles, markers on arms don’t rub off so easily and dirt plus water equals a mess that a toddler just isn’t equipped to cover up.

Today, the evidence of quiet time was found in an unlikely place; right here, on my beloved Mac. Ben was napping and Lily was playing downstairs. I was folding laundry with the baby and noted that I hadn’t heard a peep in a good half hour. Hmmmm. I tip-toed downstairs to find Lily sitting in front of the screen playing with Photo Booth. I’d left it open and the little (Harvard bound) genius figured out how to use it. She had filled the folder with glamour shots of herself, covering every emotion in the book.

Never mind that my computer screen was covered with fingerprints and there was a glob of peanut butter on my mouse. Small price to pay for 30 minutes of quiet time. And I even got pictures to boot? Doesn’t get much better.

That is so awesome. Not that you have fingerprints all over your computer and peanut butter on your mouse, but that your daughter figured out the computer, took pics of herself, and the best part, you got 30 MINUTES to yourself. I cannot remember the last time that happened and both of my kids were awake. If they are that quiet, then I am usually going to find the boy up to no good (you know, throwing all the toothbrushes int he toilet, taking every single tissue out of the box, coloring the table, etc). My 4 yr old daughter is typically pretty good and stays out of trouble.

Too cute! You should have those pics matted and framed just as they are on your blog for her wall. What fun! My dtr is just at the age where if she gets into anything you can count on it being broken within seconds. I look forward to finding such fun pics of her on my camera. Today’s mischief was her picking my faux cranberries off my centerpiece. She came running to me in the bathroom screaming, “MOMMY! THE GRAPES FELL OVER!” Hmmm, I’m sure the “grapes” IE cranberry’s fell over all by themselves. NOT! I have to keep reminding her they aren’t real and you can’t eat them. This was yet another attempt by her to sneak a treat. Silly Girl. I’m going to have to put them up higher aye?!
