I have a two year old and I noticed he is starting to swear. I have to watch my mouth around him. He said last week bullshit! I said Jayden what did you say baby and he said mama bullshit! WOW. :O

About a month ago I was picking up my 8 y/o son from baseball practice. The assistant coach told me that he & his buddy had been benched bc they had a scuffle. Then he tells me that when his back was turned one of them said ass hole. I was surprised bc my curse list really does not include this word. As we walked back to the car I asked my DS if he was the one that said ass hole. He said no bc he didn’t know what it meant!

Well, I’ve never met a kid whose first question in a foreign language class wasn’t a request for swear words. Most are afraid to ask the teacher, but there’s always at least one who does. Suddenly, the whole class is listening hard. The replies the teachers gave ran the gamut from, “That’s not what you’re here to learn.” to the middle aged woman who taught Spanish who said, “The Spanish-speaking people don’t swear.” So, if nothing else, learning swear words in another language should make them popular in language class.

According to family lore, my first word was bullsh!t and I haven’t stopped swearing since. I did try making my son not swear at all and I was a tremendous failure at it. Now that he’s a teen, he pretty much knows when and where to use his words. Thanks for the LOLs. So glad there are other perfectly imperfect parents like me around!

On a recent 12 hour car trip with my 5 children, I taught my 21 month old a couple of new words. I was trying to get in the motel quickly and quietly because it was really late, but my kids were being really loud and I was dropping everything. I muttered “shit,” which she instantly repeated. Then I said, “dammit.” She really liked that one and started screaming it over and over at the top of her lungs. With that and the kids roaring laughter at their sister’s new word, I’m sure we woke up a lot of weary travelers. I hope she doesn’t repeat it at church, seeing as how her grandfather is the preacher. Yikes.

Thanks for the LOLs, even the comments from your readers are hysterical!!! I hate that i cannot curb my gutter gums and have always dreaded that my kids 6&10 are going to pick it up. Aside from the occasional hilarious outburst as preschoolers I have been lucky until Saturday when i overheard my oldest daughter talking to a friend about some ‘Fucking loser’ My instinct was to barge in the room and reprimand her for her foul mouth, but with hand on the doorknob i completely realized that i have used that phrase all too often! Oh my, i was so enlightened at that moment i had to let it go, at least until we were alone and i could explain the whole ‘time and a place thing’!!!!

My son’s first word was “dammit”, yup even before mum, I didn’t swear much around him back then , now as an adult(27) he tells me I swear too much around his little sister(12) but she doesn’t swear around me at all and from what I gather from the people in the neighbourhood she doesn’t outside the house either…and I have huge potty mouth now for some reason..must be old age lol, I think it depends on the kid, some do it..some don’t. This post made me almost pee laughing though..gotta hand it to her..she said it right!

My 12 year old could make a sailor blush…drives his daddy crazy, I’m kinda impressed with some of his combinations. I’m also amazed that he’s never gotten in trouble at school for this. Sometimes, some words just express emotions better than others..whether you are 12 or 32 or 62…

I have two teens, 16 and 19. I really curbed my language when they were small, but over the past few years it has slowly crept back in. Sometimes there is just nothing else that can replace a da** or f***.
We recently took over custody of our 3 yo niece and 18 mos nephew, who had probably heard their fair share of bad language but, it’s been a while since I had to really watch it.
As we ride down the road, the 3 yo is jabbering away and suddenly yells “bullshit”! As I try not to laugh I tell her that it’s not really a nice word for little girls to say, and that sometimes big people do but they really shouldn’t. To which she replies, “oh okay, so the big people handle the bullshits”.
I am obviously not doing quite as good a job as I originally thought, but she has a heck of a vocabulary :-) And “big people” do indeed handle all the bullshits!
