The Greatest Wedding Gift Of All

My husband has a tendency to tune me out more often than I’d like. For many years he successfully convinced me that I was crazy and never relayed to him information that I was completely sure I had. I’m onto him now, but it’s still infuriating to repeat myself three times simply because he wasn’t listening the first two.

But tonight, after reading this: (from yesterdays post,)

jeff

he came home with this:

59ce5237efd25e57f30309a37cff201c

It may have been nine years late, but the greatest wedding gift? A husband who listens.

At least, occasionally.

Wow! I’m impressed! Can he give my hubby some pointers? :)

Oh and I’m just a slight bit envious of that beautiful KitchenAid mixer.

And, he’s right on with the cookies. My three year old refers to mine not as “The Kitchen Aid Mixer”, but THE Cookie Dough…because that is what most often comes out of the bowl. :)

We have that exact mixer, but in Empire Red. We have several attachments, my fave of which is the Ice Cream maker!

A husband who listens is gold. At least to the important stuff. Like “I don’t like old lady jewelry” or “the only thing I want for my birthday is a Rebecca Minkoff”. Those are vital bits of info. he can tune out other stuff, but that? he needs to hear. Your hubby gained lots of points with this, didn’t he? ;-)

OMG, seriously? Where can I get one of those? The husband, not the mixer. I’d have no idea what to do with the mixer, but I could put that husband to good use.

And holy smokes, if they mad a husband who actually listens and DOESN’T try to fix whatever issue it is you’re trying to talk to him about? And instead, just empathizes with you and tell yous it sucks and then give you a hug? Without expecting nooky in return?

I’d buy ten of them. Especially if they’re on sale.

Jill! I seriously love your husband. He is perfect : ) Even if he doesn’t listen that well. In order to get Gary to read my blog, and God forbid, the comments, I have to tell him that someone said he was very hot : ) Which one of my FAVORITE readers does say when she sees his picture : ) and then I tell him and he looks at the blog for 1.9 seconds. And then I say, don’t you think you should read every day so I can become famouns? And he rolls his eyes : ) So, I am going to apply to be your husbands back up wife. Just so I can have a blog reader : )

And believe you me, I am 1000 times more scary than you could ever be. If you saw the state of my kitchen right now, you might faint. I think I am going to faint : )

Hi, Jeff,

Fran here. I was on Jill’s site for something totally dull and boring when I happened on this gem of a post! What luck! It turns out that not only can you write, but you also have excellent taste in home appliances.

In light of this wonderful discovery, I thought I would pass along an abbreviated list of things that Jill may need when traveling to Vegas in a few short months…

1) Feather boas for her and all her friends.
2) $1 bills…for stuff.
3) Anything Italian and leather. (My friends Gucci, Versace, and D&G all fit into this category nicely.)

Yes, he did well. A big improvement over the earrings! And he even got it on sale. Go, Jeff. :)

But I learned today that a new Kitchenaid mixer does not a baker make. I must start following recipes and stop thinking that I can improvise with baking.
