My husband has a tendency to tune me out more often than I’d like. For many years he successfully convinced me that I was crazy and never relayed to him information that I was completely sure I had. I’m onto him now, but it’s still infuriating to repeat myself three times simply because he wasn’t listening the first two.
But tonight, after reading this: (from yesterdays post,)
he came home with this:
It may have been nine years late, but the greatest wedding gift? A husband who listens.
At least, occasionally.

We have that exact mixer, but in Empire Red. We have several attachments, my fave of which is the Ice Cream maker!
I think that’s one of the best presents I’ve ever seen! Even men who listen, don’t always really “listen.”

But I learned today that a new Kitchenaid mixer does not a baker make. I must start following recipes and stop thinking that I can improvise with baking.
I think of it (and tell my kids) this way: Baking is Chemistry. If you’re lucky, when you screw up the results will not explode.

This is a guy thing because every husband I know does it. I think they tune out their Moms and then when they get married, us. But once in a great while they get it right and that is very nice, the gift is okay but the listening is so much better.
